Charlie is a most welcoming host and bartender. We enjoy our visit with him as well as the superb dining experience.
The restaurant was very romantic customer were very friendly food was outstanding included was dessert. We had the peanut
Brownie. The plating was outstanding. The serve was very poor. My wife ask for extra roll, we had ask two times. He gave us menu
But did not go over specials, we ask for tea and we waited a while for it to arrive. I know the waiter was running short on help. All in all I would go back for and other dinner.
A simply charming dining room, attentive service and a gourmet meal. The menu read like a home cooked holiday dinner, rich and comforting but it was the carrot-ginger soup that stole the show for me. Most enjoyable was that we were able to converse comfortably with the piano playing in background. We did not feel rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. Highly recommended.
Restaurant is very pretty and romantic. Pianist was wonderful. Food took way too long to arrive. At least 1 hour. Waiter was friendly and accommodating. Caesar salad dressing was not fresh. Duck was delicious.
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere. Thank you for a great experience.
Delicious duck special; a slight change from the one on the new autumn menu and it was cooked perfectly!
They hate customers and don’t want people to come. Crazy for a nice place like this, but they do not like it when you show at 7:30. They also do not answer the phone and loudly talk about it. The bartender slams things to make sure you know he does not want you there. The old saying: “the fish stinks from the head”. The owner must know that this is going on as it is costing him / her business.
Where do I begin? As we walked in the piano player was so loud it was impossible to hear the person next to you. I felt bad for the people even closer to him than my family. The waiter, Jonah was horrible. It took some time for him to acknowledge us and when he did he seemed rushed and unapologetic. Then the real wait began. We ordered drinks and eventually got them and ordered our meals. Three simple pasta dishes and a hamburger along with a salad and an appetizer. The salad and appetizer came out in a somewhat acceptable amount of time but the time between clearing those plates and the main course was totally unacceptable. There was a time of 30 mins at one point where there was not one person that came to our table. We had to ask the hostess about our food. Our glasses sat empty without a single inquiry about refills. Then after asking our food came out. It was underwhelming to say the least. My wife, whose birthday we were there to celebrate, had clams with linguini and they were so sandy that they were almost inedible.
My wife and I went Harvest Moon almost 20 years ago the night I proposed to her. It was our special place when we had something special to celebrate. I thought this time we would bring the kids to show them the place where mommy and daddy went after I asked her to marry me. After this experience I’m sure they are wondering why mommy said yes!!!
Where else can you get homemade yeast rolls like only your Grandmother used to make? Homemade pasta? Fresh greens in your salad picked from the garden on the premises? An amazing array of top- quality produced, REAL foods. Go try it out. We can’t wait to go back try the pizza (also homemade crusts!). Yum!
Harvest Moon is one of the finest dinning venues in central New Jersey. The menu selections are always superb and prepared to perfection by the chef/owner. The service is excellent and the piano player on Friday and Saturday night is a special treat. Take a moment to view the landscape filled with flowers and the vegetable garden. Harvest Moon is our favorite restaurant for a fine meal.
Very nice, on the pricey side .
A small glass of soda , Full of ice $3.50
We consider Harvest Moon to be one of the finest restaurants in this area. As always, everything was tops in our most recent visit. You always take notice when we're celebrating our wedding anniversary, and we appreciate that. Special thanks to our server, Jonah, who took very good care of us.
Wonderful experience all around! The food was excellent and the staff was as well!
Great food! Always fresh local ingredients. Great ambiance with piano music as well as great staff.
This was the best restaurant meal I have had in many years. The pork dumpling first course was bursting with compex flavors. The scallop and shrimp main course may have been the best seafood dish I ever had. The sevice was great.
We enjoy the friendly service and the wonderful food. Charlie the Bartender prepares excellent cocktails to accompany a delightful diner. Desserts are always a treat. This is must go place!!!
Eight in our party and we had a very good dinner. Noise level from the piano player in the tavern area was way too much while in the tavern, and also somewhat annoying in the dining room. Food was good. Tuna dinner is a very small portion of tuna with an abundance of vegetables. I think when you order a tuna your dinner should consist mainly of tuna and complemented with vegetables. Pork dinner on the other hand was as it should be a very good size portion of pork and complemented with vegetables. Also since we were a party of eight, we were not allowed to order (or even hear) the specials of the evening-I thought that was strange. Overall very good.
Friendly, welcoming, professional service; delicious food
The new menu for summer had some very good looking items that I hope to try over the next few weeks. Last night's chicken recipe was delicious!
Overpriced for just above average food. Whole place needs a physical makeover as this is outdated
Food was a bit bland.
We went early Friday evening. Service was top notch; it has an ambiance reminiscent of a New England inn and staff were all very friendly and efficient. White tablecloths and gaslit candles and fresh flowers on table were very nice ! Food was excellent
Excellent Menu of Chef Prepared Bread, Appetizers and Entrees, be that on the Tavern menu, or the Fine Dinning Menu. Special THANKS to Charles (The Bartender).
The food and service are always fantastic! We miss the heirloom tomato salad but look forward to it's seasonal return. Thank you for a great afternoon!
A great quaint hideaway-the food was Superb -,our waitress was Heather -fantastic service-and the dessert-mmmm
I had beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My steak was cooked perfectly, the was just the eight amount of gravy and the vegetables were delicious. My husband had a salmon dish and said it was also phenomenal. Our server was attentive but not invasive. We very much enjoyed the live piano music.
Nice restaurant, food good but overpriced for the quality. We are foodies & dont mind paying for wonderful food, this did not live up to expectations.
Excellent food and service. Small menu but every one in my group found something and were very satisfied.
Interior is dated, a little musty smelling. Noise levels high.
Great food and service once again; this was an excellent choice on a lovely, spring evening.
I've been to Harvest Moon previously and it's vacillated between decent and excellent. It was just pretty good on Mother's Day. The food was not hot as it should be, it seemed to be sitting for a few minutes before it came out. The taste was good, but for the price you expect a little better. Kind of a shame, but there are times when the food is excellent
The food was very good, for the most part. My pasta was a tad too al dente, but everyone else loved their food. But the service was very slow with not a lot of people there. Took 2 1/2 hours for dinner. Would still go back or recommend, but be prepared. And my first 3 choices for wine bottles weren’t available. They actually lost money as I wound up going with a less expensive bottle than I originally planned on.
Food was very good, but we went on Mothers Day and the service was a little slow, I would go back, especially for their carrot ginger soup. Portions a little small for a Duck Breast at $37, but good flavor.
We waited almost two hours for our entrees, when my first course came out in less than 15 minutes... the food was over salted, nothing special... we had to waive a server down several times to get our waters refilled and order more drinks while waiting on our food... we are in no hurry to go back...
The food and coffee was very good, special for Mother’s Day brunch. There was a wait for our table as well as a long wait for food (start to finish 2 + hours) but overall it was lovely. To their credit instead of making a standard pre fix only you could select a la carte at a reasonable price.
Room much too cold
Small water glasses
Entree mediocre to poor
The food and service was outstanding. We were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a wonderful time and we can’t wait to return. Thank you for everything Harvest Moon!!
This is our favourite spot! Great food, comfortable surroundings, perfect spot to meet friends for dinner or drinks!
Great food and service. The piano playing was really nice and the ambiance was amazing for a nice date night. Perfect! The seared Ahi dish is seriously fantastic.
Fine dining in every sense of the word. Locally sourced ingredients that are wonderfully prepared and beautifully plated. Salads were fresh and unique (loved the mixed greens with endive), meats are perfectly cooked, and desserts are dangerous... and not to be missed.
Stan Novak and his team have never disappointed, and they bring amazing sophistication to the food.
The only miss is the wines, where they have a diverse list but seem to struggle to maintain what they list. It's rather annoying to have the waitstaff repeatedly have to ask the bartender if they have my selection in stock.
They say you can't judge a book by it's cover, and don't let the exterior of this quaint Colonial home fool you- this is seriously good food and stands alongside the very best ion the Eastern Seaboard.
A very nice place with good food and welcoming staff.
