Hartsyard is set on Enmore road embracing the neighbourhood vibe in a relaxed casual environment. We have limited outside seating in the warmer months. Hartsyard is only a two minute walk from Newtown station.
Very busy, service drop. Overall ok
Really annoyed at myself that we haven't been here sooner! Such an amazing experience. Will definitely be back and will be telling all of my friends about the amazing service, cool fitout and such fresh seafood, and well-cooked meats that we ate here. It was the perfect way to bring in the new year! Thanks Hartsyard!
The food was absolutely amazing and the service the staff gave was next level. Will definitely be going back.
A spin on the hartsyard of old with a Japanese twist and a few tatts.
Great food, cocktails and service, will definitely be going back there again. The pork dish was amazing.
Every dish we had was amazing and the staff were all very helpful in explaining sizes and recommending dishes and wines. Fried cheese was defiantly a highlight.
Love this restaurant. It's rare to find a place where all the staff seem so invested and knowledgeable about the food. Everything was gluten free and incredible, the restaurant is intimate and relaxed. Had a great night, again! Will be back
We had most of our special family moments at Hartsyard over the last 5 years. Great place to take friends and enjoy the greatest meals and wines. Fabulous to see how dining has changed over that time which makes Hartsyard a place we will keep going back to. Keep going please, we live you.
Delicious, inventive menu with vegan options ! Super loud, though.
Outstanding service, and delicious food! Highly recommend Hartsyard to anyone!
We had the set menu and were impressed with every course that came out. The food was well presented and each course was full of flavor. The waitress was exceptional in servicing the restaurant and made awesome cocktails. One of the best Negronis I’ve had. Highly recommended.
Great food, fast service...we had the testing menu with each dish better than the last finished with the milk and honey desert yum!
Busy casual restaurant. Fun place for meeting up with friends. The food was amazing and beyond delicious, I loved every mouth full. I am still dreaming about it, I can not wait to go back. The timing of each dish / course was perfect. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. I will totally recommend Hartsyard to anyone who will listen.
We had the tasting menu and found every dish to be well balanced and delicious. What they do with vegetables is particularly interesting. One of the best meals we’ve had in a while and will definitely be back!
We attended a Saturday lunch special and ordered off the ala carte menu. We took full advantage of the bottomless Rose’October special. I was blown away by the flavour of the food, portions, value for money and friendly staff. We had an awesome long lunch and I would highly recommend this gem to anyone.
The food could have been amazing but some things not great.
Miso eggplant awesome. Cuttlefish great. Kangaroo tartare nice. My friend loved it the most.
Oysters drowned in weirdness and oil, kingfish didn’t go with pineapple.
Fusion didn’t fuse as well as promised, especially due to booking holding limitations. While accommodating in the end, I think we should’ve given somewhere else a go that was more flexible. Wine was awesome.
Wow! We had the tasting menu between two of us. Food was outstanding, great atmosphere. It was a little noisy but that just added to the vibe. Highly recommended.
Excellent food and wonderful staff. We had a really great night.
Incredible food, friendly and fun service, incredible food, great night out, incredible food, nice atmosphere, incredible food. Did I mention the food??. Highly recommend.
Excellent food! Our waitress was great too. Wine awesome. Music too loud. Walls a little bare n white. But all in all amazing
Sorry. Just fell short. Cut corners on the food (they actually cut a fish head in half) . Too noisy and it seemed like they were breaking in two new staff on a Saturday night
The food is delicious and inventive, the service knowledgeable and attentive, the atmosphere is fun without being too loud, and it's casual but takes itself seriously enough. We will be back. Never disappointed.
Great service, food, menu. They easily accommodated my gluten free request. Wine menu is also my tho g with lots of natural and preservative free options. I’m a huge fan!
Amazing food and amazing service- always consistent at Hartsyard!
Food and service was superb. Quite pricey with small portions though. Food is made to be shared.
Fantastic food and customer service easily wins us over! We’ll definitely be back again for the next menu! They paid attention to my note I left on the RSVP (regarding our anniversary) which is amazing!
From arrival to leaving the service was genuinely attentive (not forced), the food was deliciously adventurous (we had the tasting menu) and the cocktails were keepers. A new favourite!
We had the pleasure of spending the day after our wedding at this lunch and we had a wonderful time.
The food and staff were amazing and accommodating. James from Four Pillars was informative and fun. The whole experience is something we would love to do again.
Every dish was sensational - the chefs have a real talent for flavours and textures that just work together. The shared plate concept just means that you get to taste more delicious dishes.
Very average atmosphere. The renovation was very chilly + bright, with a cafeteria looking interior. The staff were fine. The food was tasty but over-priced, super small portions.
Sorry, won’t be going back.
Been to hartsyard over the years, the food is the best it has ever been. All dishes faultless, standouts include: duck breast with cumquat, poached calamari, celeriac with chocolate dessert.
Cant wait to come back!
The food used to be much better.
We used to go for years but I think we might not anymore.
We were rushed through our meal in an hour (including a bottle of wine!) Our plates were cleared the moment we put our fork down - in one case my husband's plate was taken before he had finished the meal. We had 5 courses land on the table one after the other - too rushed.
Amazing menu! The food all went together so well. Several stand out dishes.
Restaurant busy with nice enough seating (perhaps too bright for my liking). Service was good with nice staff.
Menu is very underwhelming. The three of us did not eat red meat so had the veg and fish/seafood dishes and the flavours and combinations were underwhelming, not creative and overall not special at all.
Wine list was good with a good range of prices to choose from.
Unfortunately when the competition for Sydney restaurants is so fierce, this restaurant does not stand out and I will not be visiting again.
I had visited last year and the restaurant was fabulous. Food was great and service perfect. However I have since learnt that management has changed hands and this makes sense given the experience we had. While the service was great and the atmosphere was lively the food was really sub par - like charred broccoli and a sauce I could have made myself, and leeks which were sloppy and tasted......just like boiled leeks. mY husband and one of our other friends ended up having a stomach problems the next day. I wouldn't complain this vigorously if it was cheap and cheerful but it set us back at $120 pp. Won't go again.
Great place, great food. Staff very helpful and quick service
Quintessentially Newtown: eclectic, vibrant and fun. Food was delicious and the service excellent. Will be back👍
The flavours were unexpected and pleasantly surprised us. Each dish presented us with something new to experience. Both of us love to cook so it is always a delight to eat somewhere that explores food texture, flavours and combinations that we would not necessarily think could partner together. Thank you for a memorable evening. The music could be a little more muted.
stupid place - don't care about customers at all - don't go
Hi Mr Rorrison, Glad you reviewed, -You were 30 MINS LATE (peak time sat night) -You complained there's NO FRIED CHICKEN(hasn't been on menu for 2 years). You easily could've researched online but you didn't. -You complained the WAGYU steak price $38. The owner spent 10 mins explaining it is a reasonable price for Sydney restaurants. Yet you repeatedly ignored her advise on other items to match your budget. -Oporto is next door. -You didn't order any food so how can this review be accurate.
