Harry's Daughter Caribbean Inspired Gastro Pub
Nice relaxing experience with delicious food and good drinks.
Good food, good music, good service.
Table wasn’t ready for the reservation. An hour later we were seated. Waited 30 minutes for apps, then told one of them was sold out. Ox tail was over seasoned, when I could get thru the bones and cartilage. The good news was it was our anniversary and they left the sold out app on the bill when it came! All in all, put a check in this box, never going back.
Loved the vibe of the place. There was a dj who played good music. Staff seemed friendly. Drinks were good. Food could’ve been better.
Food was good and the service was even better. Went on a Friday night and there was a DJ.
The singer and LIVE band were the main draw to such a diverse and beautiful venue. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Everything we tasted was a delicious adventure - and our small group of 5 attempted to order one of almost everything. Harry's Daughter mixes their gastro-metaphors, but the chef does it well and not to the point where the original inspiration is completely lost. One of Jersey City's best restaurants.
I probably should request a table that's not right underneath the speakers, but it's a whole lot better on week nights without the DJ if you are at all interested in having a conversation.
Our first time there, but certainly not our last. Great experience!
Specialty cocktails amazing. I had the sorry not sorry sorrell & and my friend had the frozen rum punch. Both drinks were on point. For appetizers I had the scotch bonnet honey wings which fell short. It had little to no flavor. My friend had the jerk egg roll which was season to perfection. Both dishes was hot upon serving which I loved (I like my food hot). However, our main course or as they called it large plate did not meet the mark. My friend and I both got the braised ribs with pumpkin rice and cabbage. I was disappointed to receive my food semi warm. The rice was extremely hard and the ribs had more fat then meat. Overall it wasn't that bad everything tasted well seasoned with the exception of the wings. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Great local spot with interesting food, good drinks and good people running the place.
I love Harry’s daughter!! I can’t wait to return again. It’s a gem in the neighborhood!!!
The food is amazing and the run punch is a must have. We really enjoyed the meal and overall ambience.
First - let me say we enjoyed our time at Harry's daughter. The food was delicious and the portions were HUGE. We were served immediately and never questioned the timing of our order. We visited Harry's daughter for brunch.
The bad - The first thing we noticed was a man in a somewhat grimy undershirt cleaning the restaurant. Now, this was not something we were concerned about but then we saw this guy in the kitchen.. So a sweaty guy in an old wife beater tank top who is cleaning the floors and sweeping outside is in the kitchen.. maybe sweating on the food? Maybe getting germs on the counters? Who knows.
To management: just need to lock that down.. gives a cleaner more professional feeling.
Can’t wait to come back!!
Good food, good vibes.
Great food and fun experience! The owners and staff were incredibly friendly. Drinks were legit! Highly recommend dining here.
A spacious dining venue with a comfortable ambiance. Interesting cocktail menu; pretty standard Caribbean choices; although they have jerk chicken on the menu the rest are of the choices lean more on the Trinidadian side, jerk being a Jamaican speciality. The jerk chicken was so-so but the vegetarian peas meal that I ordered was very tasty.
Neighborhood gem serving delicious Caribbean flavors in a charming atmosphere.
We were here on recommendation of our landlady. Nice service, the waitress was friendly and accommodating, the prices reasonable and the food was tasty. I would come back.
Went on a Saturday night with family, 2 adults and 3 kids: a 25, 15 and 8. Something on the menu for everyone. Food is tasty and service is outstanding. They had a DJ which was nice. I do think that the prices where a little steep considering the area. But good place overall.
Loved it! Great ambience, good food and yummy drinks. Also loved the music. It was a perfect mix of Soca/Reggae + R&B. I'm Caribbean so I can be a tough critic on Caribbean restaurants but this one is a great hidden gem. I definitely plan to go back.
Waited for a table although we had a reservation but they were apologetic and made up for it by giving us complimentary drinks. Service was excellent!
Great music and atmosphere. Authentic Caribbean food. Rum punch was delicious. Will be back for sure !
It’s a nice little quaint place, decor is nice, the DJ was on point with the music, the lighting could’ve been a little better, it was to dim so for those who a readers and can’t see to well in the dark this isn’t the place for you. If you come with a party please make sure the entire party is present because you will not be seated until the entire party is present. The menu is Caribbean then and the Food was wonderful but the drinks are a bit over price so anyone that loves to drink while dining, get your drink on before you go. Parking is tight so it’s best to Uber unless you know the area and know where to park. I was there on a Friday @ 7 and the place was already crowded so make reservations, try to get there early or be prepared to wait
This place was exactly what we were looking for. Cozy and low key. Ambiance was on point. Prices were reasonable. Food was Amazing. I even had to take an extra soup home. I’m definitely referring this place to all my friends. This will be our new hangout.
This place is fun and different but has some major flaws. First, the service was poor. After asking for her ginger beer three separate times, she finally went up to the bartender and got it herself. And the waiter sort of went awol after the food arrived. Also, the food was uneven. The salad dressing on one of the main salads was super watery, my shrimp (part of the shrimp curry special) were rubbery, and the vegetable that came with it was overcooked and bland. And I ordered the okra as a side dish which the waiter forgot to bring. On the plus side, the portions are huge, and some of the sauces were delicious. So I'd recommend it with reservations.
would have given 5 stars if not for the slow service. overall, worth the trip and food was delicious.
The owners are welcoming and make sure you are comfortable. The atmosphere is very friendly and staff are attentive. I always leave there feeling satisfied. I highly reccomend this Restaurant .
Exceptional food, atmosphere and service! We really enjoyed it.
My first visit to this establishment. Greeted by Ella who was a delight and seated at a high top which is a turn off due to age. Spouse had the red snapper with pumpkin rice which was delicious. I had the peri peri shrimp which was very spicy but delicious. My husband did not feel well so we took our dessert bread pudding home. The dessert was not worth ten dollars.
My complaint was a certain gentlemen brought me two dishes that were not mine and my pet peeve is clearing my dishes when my spouse was not finished his meal. I would go back again despite my minor complaints.
Run, don't walk, to Harry's Daughter! Some of the best food that I've had in a really long time. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt that I had to, given the wonderful meal that graced our table this evening.
My husband and I ordered the double-braised oxtail, peri peri shrimp, bonnet honey wings, and a Sorrel not Sorry cocktail. Mindblowingly thoughtfully cooked food that was complex down to the last bite. I've been searching for a decade for good oxtail, and the one served at Harry's was tender, juicy, and fatty right next to the bone, served with a rich sauce with beans that really complemented the pumpkin rice. My husband really enjoyed his shrimp as well. Honestly, it's hard to reinvent the wheel with wings, but the sticky bonnet honey glaze was not overly sweet, with a great smoky savoury quality to it as well. Lastly, the cocktail was refreshing and fun to drink, and the whiskey aftertaste made it even more interesting.
Our waiter was attentive and we had great service. Can't recommend Harry's Daughter enough, and can't wait to try out their brunch!
It was a perfect neighborhood gem. The food was awesome, good portions and the server was attentive.
Cannot wait to return.
Delicious food! Perfect portions. Great vibe, nice diverse crowd.
awesome food and drinks. I had the chicken and waffles and the rum punch. The music was great
The food was okay. It’s not authentic Caribbean food, but still enjoyed it. The waitress did not know much about the menu.
The food and service was excellent. I had the ox tail and the peri pedi shrimp, and both were delicious.... I practically licked my plate clean... no joke! The bartender, Alister, was super friendly, made great cocktails and recommended tasty wine! Can’t wait to go back and try the jerk chicken red snapper and for the live reggae music on Sunday, dj on Friday and rum punch happy hour on Thursday!
Even Better Than the 1st Time. We'll have to keep coming back until we've gotten through the entire menu.
Celebrated my wife’s birthday on Sunday, and wasn’t aware that a band would be playing. Everything was perfect, from the snapper to the service!
