The Eatery & Bar offer seasonally focused dishes — using traditional cooking methods - on an open fireplace and in a wood-fired oven.
Half Acre has a 75 seat glasshouse dining room which opens into a luscious courtyard, with a 12 seat semi-private dining room attached.

The grandeur of the old mill – with its exposed brick walls and soaring stained timber ceilings dates back to the early 1900s. Built in 1912 the building was originally used as a paper mill and then used by the country roads board. It sets the scene for a relaxed, comfortable, intimate, and rustic dining and event experience.

To ensure the best quality service provided and atmosphere for large groups (10 - 15 people) we offer two menu styles.
Our personal favourite is based on the premise that food is best shared. -Sharing Menu: Pick two/three items in each category and the food will come as it is prepared.
The modern traditional style. -Set Sharing Menu: The chef prepares a set of favourite small dishes that are to be shared as starters and the next course consists of individual large plates that are chosen by each person.
Groups larger than 15 people will be given the Set Sharing Menu, which has the option of personal large plate choice.
Please contact reservations to book your group and we will send the Menu's and further pricing details.

Pre-orders must be finalised and emailed to reservations by 10am. We will send you a pre-order form by email upon request.

ve the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
Beautiful, smokey, flavourful food. A very considered yet well priced wine list. Balanced service that is not too 'in your face' but attentive and friendly. All set in a beautiful, open, renovated space with a lovely courtyard area for outdoor drinks/dining. We loved it and will be back!
Loved the food & service. Noise level was fever pitch due to a large group of unpleasantly loud females. This sadly detracted from our overall dining experience.
We love the food and my friend who is a vegetarian, loved the choices she had.
The only thing we didnt like was the noise level.
But we definetely will give it another go.
The venue and the food are amazing. There were four of us dining together for sunday lunch and we got 2 mains and 4 sides to share, which were all delicious and very reasonably priced. There was a bit of confusion with a cabbage dish and roast pumpkin which we assumed were sides but must have been entrees (though not stated as this on the menu) and we were waiting for the mains to come and but they weren't served until these two dishes were eaten. Service in general was a bit slow, we had to ask for more drinks etc , but this could just be new restaurant teething issues. I'd still go back and highly recommend it.
The location is great but if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't stumble across it. The setting is beautiful, the food amazing but there was 1 hr in getting our 1st main to the last. Something that I'm sure they will fix as it's only early days yet and we had a table of 11. I think 2 to 4 would be ideal but worth checking out
Amazing restaurant - very friendly staff and the food was amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant. The glasshouse roof is really something different and gives a great vibe to the restaurant. From entry to exit everything was wonderful - thank you Half Acre people :)
An absolutely beautiful restaurant that could be even better. Still finding its feet with the service, and the lack of acoustic treatment in the room makes conversations challenging, particularly for larger groups. The menu features an array of simple and rustic Mediterranean flavours but execution was inconsistent, with an earlier weekend visit spot on and a later visit a little more haphazard. It makes a lovely local, but perhaps not quite a destinational visit.
First time here - great local find but it is loud and it takes a while to get used to the woodsmoke. Service and food and cocktails are however...fantastic!
Fabulous food, including delicious pizza and lots of shared plates. I am vegetarian and there were more than enough options. Only complaint was the noise level, they probably need to address this with some noise reduction measures. Beautiful design, well priced wines and champagnes.
Always enjoy a meal at Half Acre. We go early before it gets busy so it isn't too noisy
So impressed with the creative menu, wine selection, table service/banter and the ease of the dining experience. We were humbled to share a moment with the head chef, and congratulate him again now on a menu that is both exciting and accessible. We'll be back
This place is a 10/10!! We had a large table of guests and every single one of them raved about the food ( an we’re a a tough crowd to please). I highly recommend having dinner here.
Absolutely outstanding food, service and ambience
Highly recommend this very cool light space for lunch or dinner
A destination for foodies
Loved the brand new fit out - great space. We enjoyed tasting just a few things on the menu as we were a little short on time, would love to return and taste many more items on the menu and enjoy the wonderful service again.
Great atmosphere and really great food. Really enjoyed sharing a few dishes with everyone. Yum pizza, defiantly try the cabbage and the cauliflower dishes! So tasty!
Design-wise this is one cool space; and having schlepped across from South Melbourne it is great for parking but is in a very old-school, kind of desolate industrial part of town. When you walk in the smell is terrific, wood-smoke and good food, and it's a fairly up-market more Sth Yarra than hipster crowd. Service was efficient but knowledge of the food and the wine-list was fair to mediocre. The big disappointment was the pizza. We should have stuck with the smaller sharing plates for the pizza was not overcrowded but nor was it remarkable--pub standard maybe. Fancy gastro pub would your closest equivalent.
Service was friendly and efficient, drinks where lovely and food delicious. We had a lovely night and will be back.
Half Acre is a wonderful new restaurant in the area.
Parking is easy but more importantly the food, service and ambiance is exceptional.
It is a very relaxed establishment with an amazing fitout.
This would make a fabulous venue for a wedding or any special occasion.
A bit noisy, tables to large to talk across. food was good, fish was great and service good.
Food was amazing but service could have been better.
Loved Half Acre and will definitely return. Food was great comfort food with loads of options that appealed. Only criticism is that it is noisy - we were there on a late Saturday afternoon & sat far away from the other 2 occupied tables, and yet still the noise from those others impacted our conversation. If it was a full house it would be a real challenge. I do appreciate this is not a unique problem, with so many restaurants like this. However, if noisy doesn't bother you, then this place is fantastic and has really great food.
Really beautiful fitout with amazing food. Highly recommend. Would be great if they did brunch as the menu is suitable for lunch or dinner only.
Fantastic new bar/restaurant. Great food, atmosphere and service. We’ll be back!
My husband and I arrived not knowing what to expect as it has just recently opened. Walk in greeted by a charming girl took us to our seats the ambiance was amazing Industrial feel can I say we had a wonderful night. selection of entrees to share Flat bread, herbs with smoked butter, Grilled Cauliflower flavours with dukkah & tahini then our scotch fillet and the grilled hanger came it was so good exactly how we like it medium rare flamed cooked to perfection. Love the concept the way it was cooked we could not fault the food or service and will highly recommend to our family and friends and will be back. thank you again
This venue sets the bar very high from the moment you walk in with its exceptional appearance. The building has a relaxed contemporary-industrial style with just the right amount of rustic feels. It has a super high, pitched ceilings with glass panels and a variety of wood and stone tables. The food also exceeded my expectations. It is simple and wholesome, using quality ingredients with a twist. I highly recommend the cabbage dish! The venue had good ambiance, although it was fairly well lit in there which made it feel more casual/less intimate. Service was very professional and not overbearing. It is worth noting however, that this restaurant is not in a typical 'happening' area and is fairly isolated. Not ideal if you feel like going for a stroll or a coffee/cocktail nearby after dinner - this is a destination venue.
A great addition to the Melbourne restaurant scene and I highly recommend!
Amazing cabbage, I’ll be back for the cabbage for sure.
Good environment, I went when the sun was setting so the glasshouse view was amazing.
I also recommend Oven dried tomato with Stracciatella, flat bread and smoked butter and the kipfler potato’s. -vegetarian
amazing new spot in Melbourne. High end without the fuss. Great food without being expensive.
Beautiful space with kind caring staff and a unique menu that was actually perfect, non-pretentious, hearty, satisfying and delicious and well-presented with great portion sizes.
And really great coffee! Best place I've found in Melbourne to both have a quiet meal and sit in comfortable stillness for while.
And the sun through the steeple windows...just an absolutely cinematic experience.
The space is just inviting and beautiful. Service was great and the food lovely. One of the mains we ordered was the fish with pickled carrot and okra. What was not mentioned on the menu for this dish was onions. There were more onions than okra. My partner has a slight allergy to onions, especially undercooked ones which would have been a big problem. I think if there is big portion of any ingredient on a dish, it should be stated. We would not have ordered this just to be on the safe side. Other than that, it was a great evening and we will be back for the pizzas, minus the onions.
