Half Acre's stunning open kitchen sets the scene for a relaxed, comfortable, intimate, and rustic dining and event experience. Inspired by seasonal, modern cooking, with a focus on farm to table practices and local, ethical sourcing.
Half Acre has an 85 seat glasshouse dining room with a 12 seat semi-private dining room attached, along with luscious outdoors courtyard and separate under cover, heated bar area.
We had a wonderful time. The food was great, the service was friendly and the ambiance pleasant. It wasn't cheap - but we left feeling that we got a great experience that was well worth the price.
excellent value for money and great ambiance. food is fresh and abundant. There was only one meat option on the day, however great variety for vegetarians.
Great concept. Fabulous food! Wait service sporadic but staff were lovely.
Went for the sunday bottomless brunch. Not bad value and some yummy food but few kinks to iron out. Doors didnt open til well after 11 with a line outside so the 2 hr 11am-1pm timeslot was a slow start with lines for everything. Despite a table of 7 they would only allow one drink a person which meant 7 people had to stand in line to get a drink which didnt help and was silly. Limited table service. Food was good - think their ala carte menu is a notch better. Solo music guy was a good touch but a bit too loud and made conversation hard.
I really enjoyed the experience at Half Acre. The ambience was absolutely perfect for a girl's brunch. My only recommendation is that whilst the food was exceptionally yummy, I thought for a Brunch there could have been more Brunch options - it felt like more like a lunch than Breakfast.
The table was to small for our legs, a long slow line to get in and NO staff to be seen for drinks or clearing of the table. Bar empty at times too. Food was lovely but so frustrated by seating & mess on the table that we would not return. Understaffed. Spoilt something nice. Disappointed and embarrassed I suggested.
I thought the service was average given that the restaurant was by no means full
We ordered pizza we needed to ask for more topping as the pizza topping was minimalist.
So we add up paying $26 for average pizza .
My husband order calamari wasn’t fresh.
The letters salad full of sugar dressing.
The place buy himself lovely.lots of parking.
Half Acre was a great place for a family meal. It’s lovely to find somewhere that feels comfortable and like home, but still with great modern food and drink.
Some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten in my life!
Amazing food. Did run low on desserts and drink garnish, but otherwise amazing.
Fautless and perfect. The venue is divine, - intimate and warm. The service is so pleasant and accommodating. The food is just SO good, we'll be going back to make sure we eat everything on the menu. So tasty, perfect, and generously sized portions. Amazing, highly recommend!
I visited Half acre with 3 friends. The food was exceptional. Every single thing on the buffet menu was cooked/grilled/charred to perfection. Zero complaints there. I did feel however that having to line up for your bottomless spritz or vodka took away from being able to enjoy the 2 hours with friends. There was only one staff member serving drinks at the bar and so there was also a certain level of discontinuity about the brunch. Atmosphere is great. I was very aware that 3.30pm had hit and bottomless brunch was over as the wait staff were somewhat hasty with giving the bill and making us pay on the spot without time to ‘review’. All in all a delicious tasting lunch brunch menu. I didn’t necessarily feel relaxed though queuing for drinks and thus limiting the bottomless part of the deal!
Only problem was that waiting staff had difficulty understanding requests on multiple occasions. Supervisor had to come over to verify request.
Detracted from the overall experience
Great food and menu! Just a little noisy even if it is a lovely open space.
the service was terrible. it took ages for us to get our drinks, the waitress took our order but forgot about it, one of the waitresses spoke so quickly we couldn't understand her, they kept calling us 'ladies' in a very patronising way.
i requested a particular table and was told we would be seated there. i told the manager when i booked that it was a birthday and could they please put a candle in the dessert. my request was ignored. we were sat in an area that was dark and had a faulty light fixture, no special effort was made around the birthday celebration.
VERY DISAPPOINTING !!!
i had been there before and love the food.
Such a cool concept with the bottomless brunch. Staff was so friendly and nice and seemed genuinely happy in their job. Music was very chilled and cool! Loved it all!
Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our evening at Half Acre. Great food, service & ambience. Will certainly be back. Found the $79 set menu great value. Small round table for 2 was a little small especially when endeavouring to accommodate several shared dishes at once (food for thought!!) Thx
Convenient location, great ambience, friendly staff, interesting & very tasty food. Our second visit, we will be back. : )
Very very bad service. Had to wait 30 minutes for our table that was ready. One bar tender that was to busy to serve people at bar and didn’t serve us. No one at host area always had to find staff or call them over. Ridiculous! Food was yummy though.
Unfortunately our first impressions weren’t good. We were kept waiting for our table for about 20 mins. We had to approach 2 waiters for assistance. It didn’t set things up very well. Such a shame. I think a nice touch would’ve been a complimentary drink to apologise.
The food was so delicious, and a great variety for all. Definitely good value for money. The staff were really good to deal with when I made the booking
Staff were not particularly interested in serving four women dining together. to celebrate a birthday.
Wine was slow to arrive, or food too fast, we were already well into first servings before wine was served. We actually asked them to slow down the arrival of dishes, or we would have been done and dusted within an hour. Food was ok, but nothing special, (we shared the ‘half acre’ menu, it seemed rather heavy on the smoked flavours.
The food concept is creative and the flavours are amazing, with a lovely environment making the most of natural light even in the middle of winter. Hosts are engaging and check in enough at appropriate times to ensure the flow of food and drink are consistent. The combination of the kitchen and eating area works well in creating a vibrant and lively environment. Have and will recommend to all my friends
Ran out of spiced vodka in less than half and he. We were there on time. This vodka was advertised. Staff handled it poorly and were not apologetic. If we come a long way and book something for 60 dollars, they should fulfil what they promise or at least be gracious when they can’t
I’d recommend however not for the weekend brunch/lunch. It’s a beautiful setting and the food was quite nice, however not enough for vegetarians. I also don’t think the make your own drink bar works, because I’m not a bartender and don’t know what I’m doing, nor do I want to. Part of the experience of not eating at home is being waited on and served by industry professionals. Constantly having to get up for food AND drinks took away from that experience. However I’m looking forward to coming back during the week.
A beautiful space, lending it myself well to its sophisticated brunch menu. Staff were fun and overall provided a great atmosphere. My friends and I weren’t sure about a DIY vodka & spritz bar at first but we managed to get suitably imbibed despite the approach. Wonderful for a special occasion and excellent value for money.
Delicious food, beautiful venue, friendly staff and some delicious drinks! Would absolutely recommend the bottomless lunch, the chilli vodka is a must try! The food did look like it had been absolutely demolished at one point about an hour in, but it was completely replenished within 10 minutes with amazing fresh food (not that we could fit any more in).
Half Acre is genuinely a hidden gem..... the atmosphere is warm and energetic, it has great spaces including a private dining room, bar, terrace, main restaurant and function rooms - great decor and feeling through out. Service is warm and friendly and authentic.
The food is fantastic - a selection of pizzas, lots of vegetable and side options. The cauliflower with tahini cream is a standout favourite, as is the roasted chicken with curried pumpkin.
Great wine list. All round great place for lunch, dinner, anything.
The only minor drawback is the location - it's in the middle of an industrial area in Port Melbourne. It's certainly not easy to get to. But it's worth it regardless!!
Vegetarian dishes at Half Acre are delicious. Lovely flavours and fresh. The wine list is underwhelming, better choice at same price would be easy to achieve. Get rid of bottled beer and offer greater range on tap. Have eaten here twice and have enjoyed the vegetable dishes immensely both times.
It was a bit noisy due to the function wedding and we were asked to leave the table by 8.45pm for the 2nd service., which didn't leave us time for dessert/coffees. Otherwise the food was fantastic.
We enjoyed our lunch at Half Acre, the carrot salad was delicious as was the corn dish, both full of flavour although I would have preferred the corn to be warm instead of cold, however the flavour was so delicious it made up for that slight disappointment. The potatoes were fantastic and the only downside was the Flounder main we shared. It was dry and difficult to eat. The room has a great atmosphere but it was very noisy. Difficult to overcome in a large space. We will definitely return and hopefully there won’t be as many large tables making it hard to make conversation.
Loved our meal and night at Half Acre, beautiful food, great atmosphere. A new favourite!!
Should have an option for a feed me for two for date nights
Food is lovely and its a cosy environment, lovely.
We've been to Half Acre a few times and always have enjoyed the food, ambiance and general vibe. More recently we've been bit disappointed in the size of the portions, particularly the meat dishes. The chicken is menu'd as a half chicken however it should be a half "petit pousson", its that small. There were 4 of us dining and we were still not fully satisfied at the amount of food we had. We had the flatbread, calamari, corn, pumpkin, cauliflower and the chicken. We then added the lamb. We finished with a shared desert and coffee. The pace at which the food arrives can also be of a "fast food" nature unless one requests a slower process.
Food was beautiful and the staff were attentive.
Wine list pretty good.
The downside is that it is so noisy hard to hear each other across the table.
This is the second time we have been and we had hoped outside race season it would be quieter but seems not.
Still an enjoyable evening.
First time experiencing a bottomless brunch and half acre you did not disappoint. With several bottomless brunches I have seen this has to be the one that is money for your buck. With buffet food available this suited my friends needs aswell as one who was vegan, and found the food accommodating. The drinks were great, going up and helping yourself, really made the experience, I wish there was more to choose from such as soft drinks and Juice, overall would 100% come back!
Delicious food and great atmosphere - the bottomless brunch was delicious and fun!
We had a lovely night. Food and service was excellent only criticism the music was a little loud.
