Half Acre's stunning open kitchen sets the scene for a relaxed, comfortable, intimate, and rustic dining and event experience. Inspired by seasonal, modern cooking, with a focus on farm to table practices and local, ethical sourcing.
Half Acre has an 85 seat glasshouse dining room with a 12 seat semi-private dining room attached, along with luscious outdoors courtyard and separate under cover, heated bar area.
Great service from waiters who knew their wines and food. A buzzing atmosphere. The only disappointment was a dried-out cauliflower dish and a chewy, over-blackened cabbage dish. Otherwise I will return, one day, to retry.
Amazing food and amazing drinks! Will be back again.
Loved the idea of buffet bottomless brunch. Drinks were amazing, super tasty. A few more food options would have been good, but quality of food there was very good. Service great.
Price is now different to what is advertised on OpenTable-please check current price.
Would recommend. Good fun!
Great date spot, food was brilliant and live music when we were there.
Love coming here with the friends, it's got great food and ambiance.
Half Acre was not prepared for the hot weather days Melbourne had. They forgot our drinks, even though it was their suggestion and we couldn't wait to leave due to the heat inside
The food and service at half acre is outstanding. We had a lovely lunch and the staff were so helpful. Thank you
We’ll certainly be back. Beautiful food, excellent staff and a most relaxed atmosphere.
Food, drinks and venue was amazing!
However, there was only live music for the first 20mins.
Disappointing as “live music” was something I was looking forward too.
I therefore didn’t hear if there was any music playing for the rest of the day.
Interesting space and a great sharing menu. The service was excellent.
I have experienced Half Acre a couple of times and loved it. I bought my wife for the first time for her birthday and she loved it.
The food, the service, the atmosphere and the wine was amazing.
Thank you to the team at Half Acre!
What a terrific experience- beautiful environment, sensational food and relaxed but welcoming service. All added up to a wonderful moment spent with a loved one. Thanks!
Great venue, great atmosphere, great service and more importantly great food!
Delicious food, great service. Highly recommend the bread, roasted cauliflower and Barrumundi
Delicious food with lots of vegetarian options. Smoked salmon, chicken and eggs on offer too. As well as a MYO pav / dessert station. Food was very nice and fresh. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Drink options were great too.
I went with a few colleagues from work who had never been before -actually most never even knew the restaurant was there, surprising as our office is so close. All raved about the food, drinks and value! We will all definitely be back, and I look forward to sharing this wonderful find with many more colleagues. Must remember next time to leave room for dessert! :-)
We had a wonderful Christmas lunch with our team of 6 at Half Acre. The food and ambience was excellent. For a rather large restaurant it still felt intimate with different areas throughout. I would definitely recommend.
Great food, service and ambiance. A hidden gem in South Melbourne. We stayed after our sitting and enjoyed an extra bottle or two of bubbles .
We had a fantastic early sitting dinner at Half Acre with 5 adults and 1 toddler in our party. They were wonderfully accommodating to our one dietary challenged member, the food was fantastic, the ambience perfect. Sadly we didn't order quickly enough so our meals were a little delayed and we ended up having to relocate for desserts at an outside table. But that suited Miss 2yo and no drama for us. All in all a very pleasant experience.
The food is amazing! Not a huge selection but what was there was delicious and fresh. The ‘make your own cocktail’ bar is very slow - I recommend asking for a pre made cocktail jug. Staff will cut your time short in order to set up for the lunch service - would recommend going for lunch, breakfast was rushed and with only two hours I didn’t feel like I got good value for money. Glad I went but I wouldn’t go again
Great food. Many vego options!! YAY!
Very very noisy inside. Pleasant surroundings.
We tried this place in August and had such a great experience with ordering the half acre, the staff were also amazing. We thought since we had such a great time we would go back for our work Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, the experience wasn't great. We booked for 6:15pm and arrived on time however were told we had to leave by 8:30pm as there was another booking. Note, when Melinda called me to confirm the reservation 2 days prior I was NOT told that we had a time limit nor did the booking say this when it was originally booked 14 days earlier. As it's December, we were there to celebrate the end of the work year with my close team. When we're were exchanging Christmas gifts the waiter kept coming up and was rude wanting to take our order When he could clearly see that we were in the middle of the conversation and were not yet ready to order. This was about 10 mins after we had say down, we had just ordered drinks form the bar. We ordered the half acre banquet as we loved it last time. The food again was delicious but brought out WAY TOO FAST we all had indigestion. They took away mains and brought out dessert plates right away. My colleague asked to give us 10 mins before they serve dessert as we had literally just finished mains. His response was silence, he looked down at his watch for about 20 seconds looked back to us and walked away. Disgusting attitude. Obviously you just wanted us out. My colleague then asked another waitress were we can sit if they need the table as we didn't come to stuff our faces and leave we wanted to have a nice relaxing evening. The waitress organised another table for us in the bar area which was nice however the evening had already been spoilld by the appalling service and POOR communication. Also, we spent $700, we were not there for garlic bread and a house wine!! If they hadn't have pushed us out we would have probably spent more $$. Last time I was raving about this place, now I'll be telling everyone to stear clear!
Great experience overall. Wait staff were attentive and food was delicious with the exception of Peach salad - whole radicchio leaves made it awkward to eat and overpowered the delicate peach flavor.
Having booked for a Friday lunch, we were expecting to have a long boozy lunch however, on arrival the Maitre d' informed us that it was only a 2 hour sitting. Not ideal considering I was not informed at the time of booking or when called to confirm my booking. What made it more frustrating is that a number of other tables, sat at the same time as us, looked to be enjoying their mains and cocktails while we were rushed off our table. Next time I want to enjoy a long boozy lunch, I'll be booking elsewhere.
A favourite place to go. Great ambience. Food excellent and varied. Staff amazingly friendly especially at this time of the year when it is just so busy (fully booked). The whole place is efficient - from seating to food arriving and staff always on hand.
Food delicious but it was incredibly noisy and our group of 5 found it very hard to talk to each other. It actually was unpleasant as our group were all looking forward to catching up over a yummy meal but, apart from talking to the person directly next to you (and really leaning in), you could not be heard. Apart from that, the service was attentive and the waiter very friendly. Shame that the acoustics were so bad - we probably wont return in a hurry.
Great dinner at Half Acre. Great ambiance, busy and bustling. Food and service were excellent.
First time at this venue was great. Second visit had some issues with drinks... Like seriously slow drinks. Ordered GnT on arrival and two courses hit the table before I asked where our drinks were. They arrived shortly after. This theme was repeated thought the night. The bar wasn't busy so I have no idea what the issue was.
Awesome venue, very spacious inside. All the furniture and spaces are well thought out and deliberate. Lovely staff and food was great also.
Always love coming to Half Acre. Have realised best to ask for food to all come together otherwise can end up with vege/salad dishes all eaten before meat dishes come.
Noise level a problem for conversation sometimes. Noticeable on Fri at lunch when restaurant only half full.
Great value, delicious food, great drinks, would definitely recommend!
10/10 would go again. Lovely venue, very good value for money. Great for groups/friends family catch ups
Nice place if you are going with a few friends, don't think it is the perfect place for a couple to go. Difficult to get your money's worth give the strict time frame (we were asked to leave) however the food was nice but not extraordinary.
Don't think I would go again, however it is a nice experience first time around.
Overall we had a great experience, unfortunately we had a staff member who had no personality and was VERY slow to take drink orders, after 3 requests for our drinks, we asked another waiter and our drinks arrived within moments. As this is a timed event, order drinks in advance both alcoholic and non alcoholic.
Food was delicious.
Fantastic food, friendly staff and speedy service. A hidden gem.
I have liked the restaurant more in the past so I would like to try it again.
I recommend the food but definitely do not recommend the $65 Brunch Special. The food was good. There was no real vodka - just flavored stuff which was watered down which they poured for you and you had to mix. You could not get a glass of Prosecco, only a small amount to make a spritz. The drinks were a rip off.
Loved the oven roasted cauliflower.
I'll be back!
We did the feed me $79pp deal. The amount of food was disappointing, with not enough between the 6 of us dining. We felt that this was not value for money. Many of us were all still hungry when we left which was disappointing for the cost to do the FULL sized menu. we were only brought 3 mains & 2 deserts to share between a 6 of us. We did express our disappointment on the night and were compensated with a bottle of wine off the menu which was appreciated. To give honest feedback on the service, the staff were friendly but felt as if you were very understaffed for the size of venue. It took over 20 mins before we ordered our first round of drinks. The venue is beautiful but we will probably not visit again.
Amazing. The experience, service and mainly food. I am looking forward to have a lunch soon.
Service could be improved..food was great. Would I recommend to a friend? I'm unsure. If the service improved I definitely would.
