Decided to dine-in after some relaxing of restrictions. Went early at 5:00 to minimize the crowding, though they spaced out tables well. We opted for the meal for 2 for $60. It included a number of appetizers, 6 different grilling meats, salad and vegetable. You cook your own food on a grill in the table. It can get hot near the grill so best to dress appropriately. It’s a fun way to eat, but you do need to monitor the cooking so you don’t overcook the meats. Overall, the food was plentiful. We took our leftovers home. It’s a lot of work for the servers since there are a lot of dishes and utensils to deliver and remove, so we tipped accordingly. We would return based on the quality and quantity of food.

While Gyu-Kaku is a fun and different restaurant, the food and service were good but the value for the money is not worth it. I would recommend only because it is fun to go with a group to experience the unique atmosphere. When my husband and I go out for a high priced meal, we prefer to have a sit down meal prepared by a chef, delivered by a great staff and feel full when leaving. The tables are small and tight based on the grill and venting system on the floor by your feet. I'm small, and i felt cramped for the 90+ minutes we were there. Went with my two sons and their girlfriends home from college for spring break, so 6 at a table is tight. Two of us did not get to cook b/c the food was all presented towards the end of the table by the people who could reach the grill. Two of us could not reach the grill without putting our arms in other faces or risk burning ourselves. My family cooked the food and passed it down....had they not, I would not have eaten. Again the young adults loved the place and enjoyed the cooking at the table. We ordered the Shogun $180 and serves 6, and with Tip....again not complaining about tip, service was good, but tipping 15-20% for having to cook my own food (and no cocktails) the bill was well over $200.

Try it with a group who has an open mind as it can be fun, but understand you will pay a lot and may not be full after your meal.

Food is good as alway just like any other Gyu-Kaku. But service was kinda slow maybe because of new opening. They count 1 hr and 30 mins for all you can eat buffet which is not very nice.

The meat quality is definitely degrading in the past years. We went to this new location for soft opening. The Naperville location is very clean and nicely decorated. All the staffs were well trained and responded to our request in a quick fashion. Though, kitchen was a bit slow to handle a about 75% full house business. The dessert, lady M green tea crepe and ice cream, is as good as usual. You must save space for it!
