We had an enjoyable dinner celebrating our daughter’s birthday. Food was great and we appreciated the complimentary birthday surprise, baked Alaska.
This was our second visit. Excellent service and meal.
Perfect little spot for a 3 year anniversary and it was only a 2 min walk away!
Went for a birthday Brunch. This isn’t the place you think about having brunch but we’ve heard great things and weren’t available for dinner so we tried it. Was possibly the best brunch we’ve had anywhere and that’s saying a lot. The ambiance is wonderfully done yet comfy. The service was attentive, timely, and friendly. But the food…couldn’t have been any better. Four different orders and we argued about who had the best meal. Definitely a place we’ll visit again…and again.
Can always count on Gunther for great service, food and ambiance! Also best oyster selection!
Been to this place 3 times now for brunch, excellent every time!
Perfect for a sweet date night or a mature dinner party, this place has the ambience and food to match. The oyster selection is very good as well. Highly recommend. Prices are also very affordable
Gunther typically always exceeds expectations but last night was disappointing. We still enjoyed ourselves but that’s because we made it that way. We were celebrating our anniversary and specifically requested “counter seating” on open table. We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time only to be told that we weren’t going to be at the counter. The host and hostess told us that the upstairs section was considered “counter seating” when it was just a normal table. (Scratching my head, “the counter is the same as a table?!! That’s new…”). To me, counter seating is exactly what it is: at the counter. We were further told that AFTER booking on Open Table, at counter seating, we should have called to confirm that we were at the counter, which they then said was called “the chef’s counter.” Why call to confirm when we were already confirmed through Open Table?! My boyfriend LOVES cooking so it was important that we had the counter experience watching the chefs prepare.
The food was excellent as always, beef tartare never disappoints and the cocktails were awesome.
Our server was okay. She was pleasant but didn’t introduce herself by name and seemed to rush the bill at the end when we declined desserts. She also seemed irritated when I asked about a few items on the menu.
We will definitely be returning because we’ve always had a great experience and the food is great, but just a piece of advice:
If you book specifically on Open Table and want to sit somewhere specifically, be sure to call to follow up! Evidently it doesn’t matter where you request to sit on Open Table because it’s not honored when you get there.
Great from start to finish! Cocktails✅ Griiled Octopus✅
The food was excellent, to say the least, but we had booked a counter instead of upstairs reservation and we were taken upstairs. Nothing wrong with that as we enjoyed our time there, but it didn’t make sense since there were plenty of spots at the counter when we arrived. Our server was also fantastic. I did not mind the 3% up-charge so they can pay for their employees benefits and insurance. I wish more places did that. Will come back ☺️
Gunther is hands down the best restaurant in Baltimore City! Always good food and service. The kitchen counter is the best seat in the house-you get to see all the action of how they prepare their good food.
We were rushed out of the restaurant towards the end.
Food and staff are great!
Never a bad meal at Gunther & Co. We haven’t been out to eat in a very long time, so it was great to experience such amazing food, kind service, and adherence to COVID precautions at our favorite restaurant.
Awesome birthday dinner! Great food and great drinks!
Wonderful outdoor seating and delicious meal. Heaters were outdoors so as to make outdoor dining in cooler weather pleasant.
First-timer dinning at Gunther. Great place to dine on a weekend or weekday. Honestly speaking would've liked to try all the dishes on the menu. Will definitely come back again!
We had a great meal from start to finish! Our server was knowledgeable and fun. She Suggested great drinks and gave us excellent recommendations for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We will definitely be back to visit Gunther again soon!
Wood grilled French toast fabulous and unusual. Lovely
Outdoor area with multiple warming devices that made dining outside lovely. Service a bit light due to understaffing. Fish was not fresh so stick with brunch classics
Everything was amazing, from the food to the atmosphere and service. Top notch!!
We enjoyed a nice brunch with family from out of town. We enjoyed the patio and delicious food. Thank you for a nice time visiting with family.
Best food, great cocktails
I have eaten at the Gunther several times before and the food has always been very good I think yesterday must have been an off day in the kitchen The hash browns were like sawdust the bread that the poached eggs were served on was rock hard the ham /proscutto was inediable. The lemon ricotta donuts were very nice and mimosas cannot be screwed up. I will come back again and give the Gunther another try hoping that it was an off day for the kitchen staff.
I love the ambience and quality of food. Will be coming back again and again. Book in advance though cause this place is popular.
Excellent from start to finish! I dined with a restaurant owner and his wife - both of whom are pretty particular (to the point where I am always a little nervous picking the restaurant when we go out) - but we all thought the meal, the atmosphere, and the service were fabulous! Thank you for a wonderful evening - we will be back!
Great outdoor space! Food was fantastic and service was amazing. Only slight downside, we couldn't order appetizers in advance of ordering entrees (due to COVID?) and we had someone show up late to dinner.
Five stars all around! This was such an excellent dining experience! The food was so delicious and thoughtfully prepared - I had the best pork chop of my life. The charcuterie and cheese plate is a must - very good. The wine recommendation was top notch, and our server was incredibly helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. The outdoor dining was the best I’ve seen - heaters for every table, spaced well apart. The outdoor courtyard is quiet and private - perfect for a date night or small dinner party. This is one of the best restaurants in Baltimore!
Sat outside on a beautiful night, nice heater and table lights. Service was great and food was delicious! If you need to impress someone take them to Gunthers 😉
We met a couple friend there for my wife’s birthday. From beginning to end, it was a delightful experience. Thank you for making the night special for my wife and for keeping it so laid back and relaxed. Just perfect!
I love Gunther's for brunch, but I feel like the quality of the cooking has deteriorated slightly. I am disappointed in their hash browns. They have no great flavor and are quite frankly forgettable. Put some onions in them and add some flavor.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner, your host could be a lot friendlier to the customers or at least fake it. The only thing I can criticize is we felt rushed, we do not drink , and our entrees came in like ten minutes instead of letting us sit for a little bit, but like I said it was our first time at your restaurant and we will try it out again. Thanks so much
Very expensive for mediocre food.
We had amazing service and food! Love this restaurant!
Fabulous al fresco dinner with friends! The heater was perfect, the food was excellent!
Food came out cold, even the table next to us complained about their food coming out cold
Best meal out since COVID started! Food was great and the courtyard is beautiful
Cute location, free parking, delicious drinks (try the golden gun!) and equally delicious food (shrimp roll is top notch). I would definitely go again!
Loved the outdoor patio. There are heaters for cooler temps, which were very helpful. We were there for brunch on a Sunday around 2:30p. The food and service were both great! It wasn't super crowded. Actually there were only 2 other parties on the patio with us. Will definitely go again.
Gunther & co brunch service wonderful and restaurant ambience beautiful. Food inconsistent. Raw oysters fresh and delicious. Mignonette dipping sauce special.
Duck confit so over salted it was inedible. Hanger steak the same. Someone in the kitchen table needs to understand salt can be added, not taken away. Desserts delicious all around. Without the crazy amount of salt, would have given 5 stars.
