We were well received. The staff was authentic and courteous. We felt I rushed. It was a wonderful home like feeling.
New Years Eve
This place really blew us away with the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service!!
Have eaten there at least "20" times and have always left feeling very satisfied with the service and food.
excellent atmosphere, tentative staff and food was fantastic
Always great. The best guacamole for 30 miles. Really special. Thanks
The wait staff was great, food delicious- will return soon.
Fun place and highly recommended but it can get packed on a Saturday so you might wait a bit fir your drinks
I have been here twice and both times were good experiences. The margaritas and guacamole (made table side) are delicious. I have had consistently good, if not excellent, meals. Both times I was too full for dessert, but the fried ice cream looks like fun. I will be back!
I went for lunch during the week so there wasn’t much of a crowd. Perfect for business lunch. Everything was great... food, service and decor was impeccable.
Guadalajara restaurant is a perfect place for a great dining experience. The food is delicious and the service is beyond compare. It’s a great place to celebrate any occasion and will leave you wanting to go back!
Been enjoying Guadalajara 3 or 4 times each year over many years. It's drinks, guacamole, entrees, or desserts, are consistently delicious and the reason I return with family and friends. However, in my last two visits, the vibe has changed considerably. There used to be a warm & welcoming host, eagerly smiling to find us a table. Now, a miserable woman seemed agitated or annoyed to seat us (even though the restaurant is two-thirds empty). The waitstaff would usually engage in friendly banter regarding drinks or while making guacamole. Now staff is more somber and robotic, and didn't even notice that our drinks never arrived until after our entrees. In the past, I'd be on my second drink by that time! I hope these last two visits are an anomaly and not a negative sign of things to come.
The presentation of the food was lovely, but I noticed that the tamale entree I usually order had two tamales instead of three. So not a great value for the price. While the food was good, the service was terrible. My daughter ordered dessert and it took 20 minutes for it to arrive (ice cream and fried tortillas with cinnamon and sugar, nothing special.) Overall, our meal was disappointing.
Food was good. Service ok. Prize is too expensive for taco tartare. $45 for a rib eye steak. 😱😱😱
Dinner, guacamole and margarita drinks were fabulous. Server was very attentive. FYI - Drinks and guacamole however were very expensive.
Food was great. Service was great. Restaurant was clean. I will definitely go back and recommend to anyone who wants a great time.
I took my niece and her daughter here to celebrate my grand-niece's birthday, it was wonderful. Great Mexican food and great margaritas. Our waiter was wonderful..
Great food and wonderful service!
We really enjoy going to Guadalajara. This recent visit was a little unnerving as an after work happy hour crew had a table in the dining room. They were so loud I couldn’t hear my wife. It took about 20 minutes for them to transition to the bar. I wish the staff would have politely told them to move on, but I think they were regulars or they knew the staff. Bottom line, don’t sit a family of four next the folks drink a lot of margaritas. This restaurant is to nice for that stuff at dinner time.
Everything was great!
We’ve been going here on and off for years and recently been coming back more often as our favorite waiter Jerry is back. He’s the best and has our drink orders and a dish for our younger daughter ready as soon as we sit down. Good food and great margaritas. Definitely a regular go to!
Good food - guacamole, fish tacos - fine margaritas - delicious dessert.
Love this place. Will be back again soon
We love this place! The food is great and the service is too!
Food is always good.
Service and ambiance was great and everything and everyone was clean, friendly and pleasant. The food, however was totally bland. There was almost no flavor to anything! Definitely no spice whatsoever too. I was really disappointed in the taste. Quality was fine, just lacked any flavor. I had the chimichanga and it was mostly dough. If they changed this, I’d be there all the time! Their tortilla chips were good! A little thick for my taste, but that’s nitpicking.
I had not been back to Guadalajara in 13 years; this past Saturday nite reminded me why. Solid guacamole. Margaritas with minimal tequila. Food ok but screwed up my order. Service slow. Very noisy.
An UNBELIEVABLE experience! Not enough that it’s the best Mexican in the area, I think in all of NYC...the service was amazing, the chef whipped up a collection of amazing mole sauces that perfectly complimented one of the best ribeye steaks I’ve had, and the margaritas made with mezcal were unbelievable - sweet and smoky at the same time! Never had one done that way before, but never want one any other way now! The owner James Lira somehow pulls off an elegant and yet family friendly experience — and is everywhere at once, ensuring a wonderful experience for all. Don’t miss this place!
Birthday dinner for friend. Everything was amazing.
Yes, it is loud, festive, but our family loves the warm “road house” setting. The food is consistently good.
Great margaritas and our waiter, Jerry, was wonderful. He went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great meal!
Okay, if I gave the food, service, ambience, value, and all the rest four stars, why did I give my dining experience two stars?
I took my wife to Guadalajara's for her birthday. I made that clear in the OpenTable reservation, in which I asked for any appropriate restaurant responses. I also mentioned it to our server at least three times. At least.
During the meal, twice a large sombrero was placed on a guest's head as the staff sang happy birthday. I kept thinking this was going to be a great video for our grandchildren and children to laugh at and enjoy.
The end of the meal came and nothing happened. Despite being very full I ordered a desert for my wife and I to share over her protestations since we really had had a lot to eat. But I figured that often the protocol is the guests order a desert, which is often comped, and then comes the birthday salute.
Just a bill for our delicious meal including the desert.
There was no one to speak to at the time we left so I awaited the opportunity to share this at this time.
So there it is an imperfectly wonderful and disappointing meal.
So, "yes" I recommend Guadalajara but "no" I don't recommend it for any celebratory event because you may leave as disappointed as I was.
Excellent choice for a reliable, satisfying dining experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the menu offers lots of well-pepared options and the atmosphere is warm and uncluttered. On Saturday night there are even Mariachi musicians for an added touch of fun & festivity. Saturday nights can get loud but for an early dinner or lunch, especially on a sunny day, it is lovely and quiet.
Our favorite place for Mexican good.
Table was ready service was great.
We went on a Saturday night at 7:30 with another couple. There were lots of families, which is great but the kids were making an lot of noise. At around 930 the ambiance improved. It was calmer and more adult dining like. The food was okay. The service was good and the staff was very nice. The drinks were good.
Restaurant is always pumping. Love the live music and food is on point- delicious. Excellent service.
Everything was delicious. I would definitely dine here again.
Excellent decor, great fresh margaritas, fresh guacamole, and best Mexican food (they serve traditional refried beans, not whole black beans like at the imitation Mexican restaurants in NYC (e.g. Dos Caminos)) in the NYC area.
Food was delicious , Outstanding service !! My favorite Mexican restaurant hands downs!
Went here for Valentine's day with our baby & the service was impeccable as was the food. The margaritas were perfect! We ordered steak, enhcilladas, & chicken that were all fresh & tasty! Has the feel of a small cozy place with a nice fireplace in the middle. The staff was both attentive & respectful. There was a large party that came in & was seated in the side room, we couldn't hear them at all! Would highly recommend for any occasion.
