Grossi - Grill
“In my earliest memories of childhood I can see the kitchen, a place where all would come, filled with these familiar smells, and the laughter of people that love each other and with the anticipation of flavours to come”. ?Guy Grossi
The Grill is the embodiment of this, personal service and the buzz of the open kitchen creating a magnificent atmosphere. One that is centred around ‘La Griglia’, where the Grill derives its name, is always full of the finest aged meats sourced from various producers, and the constant quest for the best quality ingredients. This is a fundamental of our philosophy. The Grill is truly an extension of the Italian kitchen’s soul.
The personal service from the staff was exceptional. Our waiter was divine, and the restaurant is magnificence itself!
Love the food and service couldn’t do enough for us. Always lovely to catch up with Guy Grossi couldn’t believe we saw him again - the last time we saw him was at The Garum in Perth and always makes us feel special...thanks again for the lovely night!
Loved the whole experience. Amazing food and just wonderful service. Great vibe and crowd. Can’t wait to come back.
We love visiting Grossi for special occasions when we are in the city.
Food, service and overall experience is always spot on!
Amazing!! We had such a great night!!!
Delicious food and amazing service!
Food and service on the night was very good. Knowledgeable floor staff who were engaging and friendly. Would return for another experience.
Super service from start to finish. Arrived 10 mins early and waiter showed us to the bar next door where we were met by friendly staff. Table available 20 mins after booking time, however we were kept in the loop by waiter. Not a problem for us. Food and service in restaurant all great, couldn’t have asked for a nicer anniversary lunch. One of the best we’ve had in numerous trips to Australia from UK.
Dining is an experience of all fronts at a restaurant, it is never solely about the experience of a sumptuous meal.
I’ve often been to “The Grill” and without fail their food is wonderfully displayed and with exceptional taste, what one would expect from classic modern Italian dining.
As to the service from the waiters at our table - a complete let down that, somewhat, spoiled our experience, especially for my interstate visitors and my embarrassment in choice of dining.
After sitting for almost 15 minutes we were asked what drinks we would like for the evening, after a further 20 minutes our waiter returned and asked us to repeat our dining order as he “wanted to make sure he had it correctly" – the difference, this time it was written down.
From our arrival and the serving of our entrees our wine was constantly filled to excess without any hint of our food arriving.
Entrées arrived without table cutlery, main course dishes were placed in front of the wrong persons with incorrect cutlery, 3 requests were made for accompanying bread and when it did arrive two orders arrived at the same time and placed on a table with a sense of disdain.
From this point it was easy to refuse any further indulgence and not order dessert
In essence Grossi’s Grill has a comfortable and relaxing ambience, the food is exceptional and the service completely intolerable for industry standards of this level.
I was disappointed with our lunch on many levels the food was average and overpriced, the wait staff were pushy and appeared to want to rush us. Our glasses which we were using were picked up by the rims and moved aside...not really hygienic. The young woman serving our table was not welcoming and accommodating. I won't be recommending Grill to my friends.
Service was super friendly and engaging, food was excellent except for my lamb rack, the cut of lamb was average. Everything else was as usual out standing.
It was a disappointing - the food and service were not what you would expect from a Guy Grossi establishment. The dishes were expensive for the quality and standard that was served.
As always a special experience-except this time it seemed overly noisy and difficult to converse. Next time i will request a table away for the area adjoining the next door bar.
Three things brought it all down. First, pate should NEVER be served that cold. Second, my lamb special was luke-warm, several degrees cooler than it should have been; the dining room was half-empty, which makes that even less excusable. Third, the wild boar ragu was B-grade; I could have done better. Wine service was, however, excellent. Tirimasu was superb.
Great food, nicely seasoned, well cooked and well presented. Good portion sizes, not too big or small. We had had excellent service.
No need for 50 characters. This place is 'Simply Superb'
Our first time at Grossi, Oh My God, the food was to die for. The sausage pasta dish was the best pasta I have ever had and the tiramisu was the best I have ever eaten. We are coming back just for those 2 dishes, see you soon x
Value for money probably not, there are better places for steak at a lower cost
High level and fast service, our waiter was very helpful, professional and nice. The food was good, however one of our main course (lamb) didn't meet the expectations.
Overall a good experience, will definitely go back. Would have been 5stars, but the room was very noisy, too loud tables near us. We could hear just voices, not even the music.
A great restaurant for looking out on to Bourke St watching Melbourne's street life, while enjoying fabulous food, wine and service.
I was satisfied with our meals and wines, I chose the Flat iron steak medium rare. It is a rustic cut of meat needed an acidic sause such as chimichurri for the palette the pesto was not sufficient but not really an issue I used lemon so it worked well great meal
Food was delicious and the service, excellent. Our waiter knew his stuff and took his time to explain the menu.
Delish food, always love the amazing bread and fantastic service.
Stupidly small tables, the food wasn't anything special - my steak was overcooked and dry and the potatoes powdery and not crispy, service was pretty bad. They didn't give us a choice for tap water and charged us $8 for Capi (whatever) then the server topped up my half filled Capi glass with tap water. At the end of the evening, we asked for our coats back and were waiting about 5 minutes while we watched our waiter start pouring wine and serving other tables. Very very disappointing to say the least. Will not return and will be letting others know.
The only place to celebrate with family and walk away full and satisfied every time for the past 20 years !!!!!!!
One of the best Italian restaurant in Melbourne. We really enjoyed the food.
Good was above average but service and experience lacked considering the price. Would have expected better wait times on drinks etc and had to ask many times for items that should have been offered at time of service.
Had a fabulous evening at Grossi Grill. Highlights were the pasta special and the spatchcock. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Melbourne Italian experience!
Loved Grossi - great Italian experience and the food was typically great from what you would expect from Guy Grossi. Would dine there again next time we are in Melbourne. Not a cheap night, but you get what you pay for, right?
The express lunch menu at Grossi Grill was fantastic. Great food and value. Would definately go again.
We had the worst table in the place. Right by the door. Freezing cold. People stood over us when they came in, and held the door open while they waited to seated or turned away.
Ridicously overpriced for food and wine. The food had no wow factor. What is was cooked excellently.
Service was poor, not enough people on the floor, especially for prices they are charging.
Not sure why a negroni costs $22 there and at the $16 any where else.
Loved our dinner out at Grossi Florentine. Ambience, food & service all fabulous. Will head back again soon.
I was a little sad, because my birthday didn't surprise me
We made Saturday 17th August's dinner at Grossi - Grill our special night out. Travelled from our home in Epsom (Bendigo) especially for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have shared our delight with our son and his girlfriend, recommending they make the trip also when they can. Thank you for making our night one to remember.
Met the guy Grossi sister who was so warm and hospitable.
Hubby & I went for a pre theatre dinner. Shared a couple of small plates which were the duck liver parfait with crostini & grilled scampi. Both were yum but the scampi did not have much flesh! The mains & dessert were tasty too. Great service but had to wait a while to get wet towels.
One of our party thought they needed to cancel, so we changed the table booking, and then they were able to come -so the table was changed twice in 2 hours, with no fuss and very good grace. The Maitre d' was incredibly accommodating with our food and choices, all within some dietary restrictions, again with no fuss and good grace. The sommelier was engaging and helpful, an absolute delight.
The food was superb; it was a wonderful day - so good to know that one of the icons of Melbourne endures with kindness, quality and elegance. Thank you for a wonderful lunch
We had a delightful meal at Grossi; the food was outstanding! Our waiter was an older Italian gentleman - although we first thought he was a bit grumpy he turned out to be another highlight of our experience once he started opening up a bit and delivered a great experience. Would highly recommend Grossi to anyone looking for an authentic Italian Grill experience.
Nice classic atmosphere, excellent service, quality and quantitavely great meals.
Classic Italian delicious food cooked very well loved the menu choices would definitely revisit l had the swordfish for main and it was delicious
