We very much enjoyed our dining experience. We were made to feel special and the staff were very friendly and informative, especially the 2 female Italian wait staff
Unsurpassed service from another era. Everything is perfect from start to finish. If you want to feel special or treat someone special in your life this is the restaurant. Extensive wine list with a very experienced sommelier to guide you, lovely food and special touches all make it a wonderful experience.
It was our 6yr anniversary, and had a gift voucher too use( which was forgottenon on bill). And made it very awkward when paying).Service was very busy, with a different waiter every course, meals were ok, 2 we could not eat because tasted off or completely different to each other. My partner is vegetarian, I rang to confirm this and voucher and they forgot. I would not reccomend this restaurant to be honest when there is so much competition out there. Even though I admire the executive chef.
The 3 courses for $150 was too much food - not leaving any room for dessert.
Much preferred old a la carte menu - choosing entrée, main and desert
Pleasant service from start to finish. Food and wine options were well described. Attentive wine service. Crab with rice pasta and wagyu beef were special highlights. Tasting menu worthwhile for first timers.
First time visitor and we were blown away by the quality of the food, it was amazing! The gnocchi was absolutely sensational, as was the panna cotta dessert, blissful! We will definitely be going back.
Wonderful service. Excellent food. Good choice of wines. Traditional. Quite expensive but good value.
We celebrated our 20 Year Wedding Anniversary at Grossi Florentino, and from the moment we walked we felt we'd taken a journey through Italy! We selected the gran tour with the wine pairing and proceeded to enjoy the taste and flavour of traditional and exquisite Italy. The staff were outstanding - knowledgeable, professional and above all, extremely good at what they do. Thank you Grossi Florentino - it was a perfect evening.
such a wonderful experience, the food, the staff, the ambience, it was what we anticipated but so much more.
Our chosen dishes (for a party of four) were beautifully prepared. We sampled quite a range of things including some dishes from the vegetarian menu. Moreover, the attention of the staff in accommodating our requests and needs was exemplary. Grazie mille.
Such a treat to come inside from Melbourne’s icy wind to this warm, welcoming restaurant. The next few hours were such a treat: impeccable service, complimentary hors d’oeuvres; choosing dishes from such an interesting and inspired menu. The staff were attentive but discrete: we were offered several rounds of the delicious freshly baked bread. Portions were generous and cooked to perfection.
Wonderful attentive staff without being overbearing. The food was delicious with a couple of surprises along the way. Left feeling incredibly satisfied.
Elegant and fine dining at its best
It was a great experience if you ignore the cost. We didn’t appreciate being offered extras without being told the cost such as a glass of sparkling wine at $50 per glass.
Being charged $120 for Cloudy Bay Sauv Blanc when it can be purchased for $35 is exorbitant
The service is impeccable. Other restaurants should send their waiting staff here to learn the subtlety of when and how to approach customers. The food is of high quality, strangely enough not as "Italian" as you might expect, with quite a variety of dishes available. A great place for any occasion, or if you just happen to be visiting Melbourne for a few days.
THE AMBIENCE AND SERVICE WERE EXCELLENT. FOOD WAS CAREFULLY PREPARED AND LOOKED INVITING ON THE PLATE.
Grossi Florentino continues to set the benchmark for exquisite and authentic Italian food located in the best part of Melbourne. Its a fine establishment in every aspect which employs genuine career focused hospitality people that are exceptional in there service.
Great tasting food but unreasonably priced for what you get. We had a 3 course meal which the food was lovely but not worth the huge price tag. The service was ok at best but they didn’t offer a drinks list which would have been helpful to also see the huge price tag on the drinks. Although we enjoyed our night the wait times between course was far too long. When we are spending upwards of $500 for 2 people we would expect perfection which it was far from unfortunately.
Waiters were friendly and happy to oblige in our needs and have a laugh with us. Food was great ,
We had travelled interstate to have our special occasion at Fiorentino. We ordered the Gran Tour with matching wines. The best dishes were the spanner crab with rice pasta & bottarga and the Oxtail. The matching wines were an Italian regional experience. We had wines from Piedmonte, Pulga, Sicly and the Alto Adige.
It's been quite while since the last time we visited Grossi Florentino Upstairs. It was a wonderful experience. Almost impossible to fault any aspect of it;the atmosphere, the food, the wines and most importantly the service.
The service was truly outstanding and every dish was exceptional. We dined at lunch and I found the entire experience to be of the highest standard. It reminded me of dining in high-end restaurants in Italy, so they have really captured the classic Italian restaurant culture superbly.
Fantastic service and impeccable food. The wait staff were attentive the food was great.
Had a great time! Awesome food and service. What an experience!
I found the whole food experience too much , too many little dishes . Too many varieties of food mixed together in my stomach. Italian Food has never meant to be art , its about simple flavours done extremely well , not too much seasoning a perfect balance . There was no green salads or live food ? Let the beautiful produce speak for itself .
On a more positive note the waiting staff were excellent.
Very unbalanced meal. No greens no starch just a lump of meat and an onion.
Enjoyed the tasting menu (Grand Tour) with matching wines (classic). Food was exceptional, as well as the staff. Smaller servings of matching wines than I have enjoyed at other restaurants eg Vue de Monde, however sommellier was very attentive and knowledgeable. We booked and started early at 6pm when the restuarant was quiet. After 7.30 the restaurant was full and become somewhat noisy but not too bad.
A special dinner with my Mum. We spent 3 hours dining in classical Italian style. We started with a glass of the best champers. Our dinner choices were accompanied by a lovely selection of wines. We had 2 more wines in accompaniment of cheese and dessert. The beautiful dining was finished off with the well known Tuscan cantucci dipped in vin santo. A real cultural delight.
Thank you to Guy Grossi and all the gorgeous staff who were just delightful and made our occasion very special.
Terrific ambiance, food and service. Not cheap but worth it. The desserts were a stand-out for me...
Dined here for my 40th birthday. Amazing food and atmosphere with staff that made you feel 100% at home. Up there with the best dining experiences in Australia.
Incredible food , service and atmosphere
We have chosen Grossi Florentino for our wedding anniversary celebration and it was all and more than what we expected.
The service was fantastic, food was delicious and in abundance, and the wine was well paired with every meal that came out.
Our waiter/sommelier/host was a fantastic person and full of knowledge, a lot of fun to chat to and full of recommendations.
In one word “EXCELLENT”!
From the moment we entered we were treated with the utmost courtesy. The staff were super attentive and the way they serve each course was the best we've experienced. The wine list catered for every taste and the sommelier knew his stuff. There was one small period where we waited to be asked for a drink and ended asking the wait staff, but it was only a blemish when compared to the rest of the service. The food was exceptional. The pasta was melt in your mouth. The venison was tender and tasty.
Ambiance. Service. Menu Wine list
Wonderful staff and amazing food! Highly recommend this great dining experience
We took important clients to Grossi Florentino Upstairs because of the restaurant long standing reputation. The food was well presented and some our party enjoyed their choice, eg; gnocchi. The signature suckling pig was dry and just barely edible. The desserts and cheeses were acceptable. There were only 5 tables of diners and whilst the service was efficient, we felt we were being rushed. I was somewhat disappointed and feel they are trading off past glories.
Great for a special lunch occasion
Great iconic restaurant with impeccable service suited to a special occasion, romantic interlude or celebratory business dinner.
