A fantastic luxurious experience. The food and service was exceptional and I couldn’t recommend it more.
From the moment we arrived the staff treated us as special. This continued throughout the evening with superb food and wine.
We spent a delightful lunch for our 17th wedding anniversary.
It was a monday and there were only 2 tables dining.
Everything was exceptional.
Our wine waiter and maitre de was Nick and he advised us with great accuracy and aplomb as to which wines would suit each dish and our tastes.
Emily was very attentive to us regarding food throughout.
The food courses were truly delicious.
I guess we should make sure to book in 3 years for our 20th anniversary!
Excellent as always dining at is best, great venue with staff attentive and friendly but not hovering, always a pleasure to dine there and as we had met Guy on a prior visit we were escorted by a staff member out to the kitchen to meet Guy again for a quick chat.
We celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary at Florentino last night. We have been to a few 'well recognised' restaurants between and since lockdowns ended in Melbourne and I have to say the total experience at Florentino puts it in a league of its own.
The food is amazing and when combined with the somewhat theatrical wine pairing and knowledgeable, yet humble staff - it makes for a truly remarkable experience!
The ability to switch dishes on the Gran Tour was also a wonderful bonus!
Food was exceptional. Delicious and authentic. The little treats throughout the courses were an welcome surprise.
Very tranquil and relaxing atmosphere
The service was friendly and impeccable!
Simply Superb food and wine. The staff listened and made our evening very special. Delicious tastings beautifully prepared and served between the ordered food - a truly lovely touch. Definitely, a must-go to special occasion venue. Thank you.
What an experience! The
Always wanted to go to Florentino and finally did it. What a fantastic experience. The quality of the food was amazing and the service exceptional. It is not a cheap experience but as a one off it was well worth it. Now I will have to save to go back again.
Top level service, excellent quality . Whole experience was A1, top notch
The place is fantastic, but the prices are to high
Even under COVID-19 restrictions, Grossi Florentino did a wonderful job for our special occasion; food, wine, and service. It was a fitting and much appreciated way to celebrate the successful completion of VCE for our twin sons after the challenges of the disrupted year. Although they are not adventurous eaters, the quality and balance of the dishes presented (we chose the Gran Tour) had them smiling and eager to see what the next course would be like. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Celebrated my anniversary in Grossi over lunch. Had the tasting menu and it’s amazing. Food is a touch too salty but it may be because I wasn’t having wine. The vibe is really nice. We had our honeymoon in Italy and this meal has brought us back to the flavours we experienced in Italy - service, music, ambience and food.
I’m already thinking of bringing family there when they can eventually come visit us from overseas. Mom loves a nice degustation menu.
The food was excellent and I really liked the tasting menu, though I was tempted on the night to go for some of the specials which also sounded absolutely delicious.
Unfortunately, I think I was let down by the service a bit. They didn't take any notice of the requests and dietary requirements I'd put in the booking notes, which resulted in a slightly awkward exchange around menus.
The wait staff seemed quite stressed out, this was an 8:30pm booking, so second sitting. Looks like they'd been run off their feet. There were delays getting us menus, getting drinks, even just getting water took a long time. They tried their best, but I couldn't help feeling that if I'd been earlier it would have been better.
Overall it was an enjoyable meal, but very expensive considering the service provided - at this price point I'd expect more. But the food was excellent.
We were welcomed for the whole time we were there. Some 3 and a half hours. The staff rotated through with professionalism, courtesy, humour and very welcoming attitudes.
Food was very well prepared and tasty.
The bonus which was somewhat unexpected was all the little extra morsels that are delivered before and after the courses you have ordered.
Generous, welcoming, warm, polite all in all a fantastic night.
Overall, it was a great experience. The service was top notch, and the sommelier helped us through the wine list. Chef Grossi was interacting with the patrons, which was quite a treat!
Had a lovely lunch here for my birthday. Excellent service and food.
It fulfilled all our expectations. Celebrating an 18th birthday. The food was so good, the service was spot on.
Perfection!!!
Good place
We had six dishes; all was excellent; five were "Woooooooow!"
Truly wonderful food and service. We also appreciated the space between tables and the relaxed but professional atmosphere. Perfect
We went with high expectations and were very disappointed. From having still and sparkling water being mixed, to meals which were far too seasoned and almost inedible and a sour dough bread which was actually inedible. The crust was so hard, it could not be broken and even when this was achieved (passing around the table for people to try) it was then unable to be chewed. Meals we ordered were in the main very disappointing although the small treats provided around these were very nice.
A special birthday celebration....hit it out of the park
A Melbourne fine dining experience rarely matched. A Melbourne institution
We had the Gran Tour which was amazing. Every course was a new taste sensation with some of the specials added to the tour. The service is impeccable with great attention to detail. The take home gift as we left was yet another surprise and delight moment.
Older restaurant which has retro charm and proper fine dining service but let down by mediocre food with a minimum charge of $150 pp and very few wines under $100.
Just not good enough. They need to get a proper chef.
Average food and definitely not value for money. We didn’t enjoy the food. Service was excellent though.
As always, a true dining experience. Beautifully done at all levels
Amazing! Highly recommend the Gran Tour
We dine at Florentino on special occasions.
I first went there in the 60's.
Went back again 3 years ago for my partners 70th.
For me it is a very special place, and we treat it
as such.
The staff , food and the ambience are just wonderful.
For us, french people, Grossi Florentino upstairs is
realy a very good gastronomic restaurant.
One of the best in Victoria.
Merci au chef qui a séduit nos papilles.
The entire experience was memorable with food and service excellent.
If I could give an 11 for service I would - unobtrusive yet So professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Food was sublime! They did not rush us so a very long enjoyable lunch.
A very limiting menu with a steep price tag. Quality, quantity and flavour of food underwhelming. Decor of dining room is stunning and classy. Service was adequate, with a degree of pomp and ceremony with every dish presentation and menu clarification. Menu needed to be thoroughly analysed and explained by waiter before conscious decision is to be made as each dish is poetically described which became confusing. The small appetiser courses between each course were tasty.
Had not been to Grossi for a while. Exceptional Melbourne establishment, great food and superb service. The dining room is the best in Melbourne with the various murals on the walls. Fully deserves its 2 hats and I would rate it 17/20.
Accommodated for vegetarians...explained thoroughly the ingredients and origins of meals....helped match the wines perfectly.....friendly staff but also very professional.
Couldn't fault it.
Always a pleasure to dine at Grossi Florentino...Superb ambiance, service, food & wine list.
We went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
It was a very special experience, the whole evening was fantastic from the moment we were greeted at the front door until we were farewelled.
We have only positive thoughts about our evening, ambience, food, staff and wine, all so good!
