Grain of the Silos
Accompanying Chef Thomas’s menu is a considered wine list, and while it tips its hat to a selection of mainland and international picks, the list takes the majority fill from handpicked local selections.
The restaurant itself, located inside converted grain silos, displays unique features drawing on the buildings industrial and agricultural past. Featuring luxe, earthy tones, reclaimed timber with contemporary settings, this natural style extends from the design to the delivery of service.
Breakfast selection for $29pp was poor, quite a few items had run out and not replaced. Chef had unhygienic habits putting hands in raw meat products and then other ingredients when making omelettes . Plates were dirty and difficult to get clean plates. Poor value for money and disappointing. We were celebrating a special occasion and venue was a let down for us.. won’t recommend to others.
Great meals, great service, friendly staff.
Came to the silos for my mums birthday lunch just like last year and it was as good as I remember. Everyone was happy with what they got (especially since I was paying) and I'm glad I could get a Jack and Coke to go with my porterhouse.
Bill came out cheaper than I expected which was great and everyone left with a smile, even my mum who had ran the marathon that day.
Business meeting with managers from Melbourne. We choose the feed us menu and they were impressed.
We had an amazing night at Grain, fabulous food and wine, friendly and efficient service and great ambience. We will definitely return.
Fantastic dining experience.... excellent friendly service from a great team. Great food with wonderful atmosphere.... Totally enjoyed and highly recommend 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
We enjoyed a beautiful lunch. Food was fantastic, set really good. Lovely views and venue.
We thought the food was very average, a breakfast buffet that you could get at any budget hotel. No barista coffee in the price, no fresh squeezed juice, not much variety of ingredients for the omelettes. For the price we expected some wow. We've had an outstanding lunch at Grain earlier this year so we were expecting an amazing buffet.
A nice menu and the food was very good, the location is great, the decore is lovely and the male waiter was very friendly and helpful but the 2 female wait staff were very unfriendly and rude and it seemed like any question etc. was a bother to them.
The service was outstanding but I was a little disappointed in the food. This is my second visit and I loved the food the first time.
Excellent food, fantastic serving staff we will be back.
$29 Breakfast buffet, which is excellent, but be earned, service fee applies and not disclosed
Outstanding restaurant, the service was amazing, the food was delicious and the setting was beautiful. Only criticism, the menu was very small. Would certainly go again
Decor was smart and simple, view of city and water was beautiful, the food was excellent (very tasty and generous portions for the price. Our waitress was wonderful and we let her choose the wines for us and we were very happy with the selection. Overall a awesome night out in a warm comfortable inviting place for dinner with great food great service.
Lunch with friends in a great atmosphere, good food and wine, reasonable lunch prices. Great staff attention.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Sauces on food were to die for.
Another wonderful night at Grains of the Silos. Only thing that I have also noticed the last two times I’ve dined. The room is way too cold and I find I need to keep my winter jacket on.
This was an unforgettable dining experience. Superb service and fantastic company. Food was 100 percent. Will be coming again. Cheers.
Food was fantastic... Quality menu with plenty of options. We considered the feed me menu but decided on Al a carte as one of our group really wanted the mushroom entree which I believe was really good. Calamari was delicious as were the scallops. Our mains were wonderful... (Ricotta cavatelli was amazing) and all beautifully presented. We were a little disappointed with desserts... Nicely presented and very tasty but lacking any wow factor. Service was great - friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back.
4 guests, 3 ordered fish and chips, more batter than fish and dry.
A new and exciting addition to the Launceston dining scene. Dined for lunch and had a varied choice on the menu as well a a daily special. Reasonable view overlooking the park and onwards to the existing Seaport. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and I would recommend to friends
Delicious meal - good to have gf options, possible to consider low FODMAP options on the menu too?
A very pleasant evening out; nice and quiet, easy to hold a conversation, food was really, really good, as you would expect for this price, but I'm told the squid was a little chewy. The truffled mushrooms were yum.
Very good experience, food was yummy and service employees were friendly.
Fantastic atmosphere and views. Amazing service and absolutely delicious food.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. We did feel a little like we were being rushed. The mushroom starter was AMAZING!
Very pleasant dining room for lunch with lots of light and views. Proud to take visitors from out of the area. Food was faultless. Service friendly. Able to sit in the comfortable lounge area while waiting for guests to arrive.
I love this place. Any excuse to visit, whether for an evening meal or a visit to the cafe.
Exceptional food and service but had to use a torch to see the menu. You need to do something about the lighting!
Lovely breakfast, peaceful, great setting and friendly helpful staff. Chef had no problem making me dairy free scrambled eggs. Partner had an omelette with the lot, it arrived hot and fresh, delicious!
Friendly service and great food, the fantastic views over the Tamar River are free.
We had a lovely evening with 4 adults and had the please feed me. It was amazing food and certainly $85 worth!! I felt bad that we left food as there was so much, I would have preferred to pay $10 less and had a little less food as I hate wasting food. It was all amazing, service perfect and lovely atmosphere. We will be back . Drinks were a little dear but a great range.
Excellent service with happy friendly staff who were attentive to my needs without being intrusive. Seating, table and utensils were all clean. Staff allowed the right amount of time for me to read and consider my menu choice. Once ordered my meal was delivered in a realistic amount of time. My meal was fresh, the correct temperature for eating, a realistic portion size and tasted excellent.
Service was fantastic and food was to die for!! Can’t wait to come back again
Service was slow. We suspect our order was misplaced give the number of guests whose meals arrived before ours although they had arrived later. Credit card fee in addition to service fee is a bit much. Food was good and selection of Tasmanian wines by the glass was exellent.
Although Grain of the Silos has a nice Ambience the seating was too close together and there wasn't enough privacy. We waited a long time for our meals and although our waitresses said the portions were generous the steak meal was very small and not cooked to my request. After spending $150 I went home and made a sandwich!
Great place to eat - food was superb and atmosphere and service great too.
Waiters Elle and Loxley were fantastic! Food was delicious but their service is what will make us return.
Fantastic and friendly service. We ordered the ‘Feed Me’ was a great way to try little bits of everything. The food was fantastic! Highly recommend to give Grain Silos a try.
Great service and great food! We will definitely be back.
Had a wonderful pre 80th birthday lunch for my Mum. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. My dad particularly liked the Tiramisu. Nice wines and coffee. There was not a morsel left on our plate. Our only criticism would be the fries could have been hotter.
