Gradi - Crown Melbourne
Classic Italian cuisine comes to Crown as Gradi brings the flavours of Naples to you with delicious Italian pizza, pasta and seafood.
Gradi's chef and restauranteur Johnny Di Francesco is a master of his craft, recently named the best in the world at The 2014 World Pizza Championships in Parma for his now famous Margherita pizza. Johnny's passion for Italian cuisine draws from traditional Neapolitan techniques, with his family originating from Naples.
Nicknamed Mr. Pizza in his home country, Johnny is well known amongst Australian food lovers for being one of the best in the pizza business.
Johnny's much-loved style of regional cooking is an exciting addition to Crown's culinary offering.
Hugely disappointed with the soggy pizza . Had waited ages to go here for the Margarita Pizza and was so disappointed - won’t be returning
If this is a review for both Open Table whom we booked with and Gradi then great.
Firstly, our reservation wasn’t on their system- Open Table’s problem or Gradi’s? This wasn’t actually a problem luckily as they weren’t to busy so they gave us a seat.
The staff are very kind and professional. The restaurant looks clean and very nice.
The problems- They didn’t have what we contacted prior to booking and left un fed after 30 mins travelling to them. Didn’t actually eat here...
Great food, ambience and service.
I would say that it might have been all of the Grand Prix people that they were trying to accommodate but the service was down a bit from what we experienced at the Brunswick restaurant.
Pizza was perfect as always. Can't go past a good Carnivora!!
$36 pasta mains and $27 pizzas are a bit of a stretch. Happy to pay that for the award winning margarita but the pizza came out sloppy - still VERY tasty though. The service was warm, hospitable and balanced between present and giving of space.
Gradi encapsulates exactly what casual fine-dining is - 'casual' with a touch of class.
The food is great quality and are the perfect portions to make sure you leave perfectly full. Our waitress was very accommodating and tried to make the night special for us.
It does get quite busy so it isn't hard for the person on the next table to know your life story. However, overall it was a great night with great food.
Quality food and very friendly and helpful staff.
I definitely recommend to others. but the prices are a little too much for the quantity served.
The pizza is overrated, there are many places in Melbourne which make a better, great authentic Italian pizza. The sauce was so soggy and made the pizza sloppy in five minutes. Otherwise, Gradi is good. The service was great and the pasta is nice. The carbonara has an overwhelming flavour of the guancale fat which was a real pity. But the mushroom papardelle was great.
Pizza was really what we went for cause it was also close to casino and near our hotel.... Pizza was excellent and authentic... But overall cost of meal was a little expensive... But overall satisfied
Food was excellent. Staff were very awesome on both getting your food and drinks whenever you wanted. Right up close so you can see your food being prepared. People might look at the menu and go $30 for a pizza but it is two meals I got through half of it and got to take the other home home.
Overall would recommend this to any Italian food lovers
Great food, really good service. Noisey so a bit hard to hear others in our party of four.
Food was great
Service was fast which is what we needed on the night however you can feel to rushed if you want to stay for a while.
It is very noisy and hard to talk at your table.
Felt very rushed and not good level of service. The food tasted like it was rushed too
Service was great pizza was wet and the seafood was very dry
Service was top notch.
Best Arancini and Calamari ever eaten.
Always a great experience at Gradi.
Lovely dinner, great recommendations from staff! Food was delicious!
Service was good at the start when it was not busy but once it got busy we did not get served for 40 minutes, despite many waiters and waitresses passing us by
Had a gorgeous waitress who was very warm and welcoming she looked after us very well and had no problems answering our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed a tasty pizza and easy the best gnocchi I have ever had. Great portion sizes and a lovely environment to enjoy a special night out.
The service was extremely welcoming and professional and attentive. The food was reliably great. What more do you need.
Disappointing, won't be back.
$41 dollars is to too much for Mussles, so i ordered the Fish mixed Grill $49, scallops, prawns, fish - all of it was well below par.
Restaurants like these at Crown have turned into tourist traps. Much better food in quality and price only a suburb away eg. Sth Melb, Albert Park & Port Melb.
unfortunately it was extremely loud and not as pleasant as we have experienced before
Pizza’s are AMAZING!!
The staff were so friendly and helpful
Always go there for pizza when in Melbourne every second year. Never disappointed. Wine list bit more expensive than others.
We love attending Gradi for dinner as we feel like we are never disappointed in any facet of the experience.
Great food , great wine & exemplary service combine to make dinner at Gradi fantastic
This was the fourth time we've dined and everytime Gradi delivers fantastic service and amazing food!
Service was excellent and good great.
The gnocchi is still the best in town says my mum - only nonna could do better.
Love it here
Great restaurant with fantastic food and friendly staff.
Great meal with friends. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone wanting to dine in the city.
Had dinner Christmas night with the family, amd whilst it was a little busy, the service was below poor. Our waiter forgot entree dishes, mains and even dessert! When we needed assistance or beverage refill he wasn’t around and preferred to laugh and joke with the other waiters. He was also very arrogant and spoke down to us. I have eaten at the Carlton location and unfortunately the service was really bad there also.
Food was ok, Pizza was soggy and full of water.
Good place for Italian food and wine with family or friends.
Customer service was fantastic, it was very busy but the staff were always around asking if we needed anything and if we were happy with our meal which means they take pride in what they do. The pizza was excellent as was the perfectly grilled seafood. Highly recommended
We celebrated my husband’s birthday there and I couldn’t have been happier. The food (totally value for money), the atmosphere ( electric) and most importantly the service was fantastic. Thank you Gradi’s for making our evening a fun and memorable one. We will definitely be back!!!
Wonderful service! Can’t rave enough how happy we were with our dining experience at a very busy time.
Loved it!! Staff was excellent even though it was incredibly busy! Food was great, fantastic wine list.
Too expensive for the quality. Too noisy. Service was excellent.
