Goryon-San Sydney aims to faithfully recreate the feel of traditional “Hakata Kushiyaki/Yakitori” where our “Kushiyaki/Yakitori” Chefs are grilling the skewers in front of you with the best care.
A “Kakurega” means a place that you come in and “hide-out”. we are a low-key izakaya that welcomes adults and young generation alike, where serve wonderful Japanese craft beers and a curated selections of sake, wine and cocktails from Japanese perspective.
After the drinks, the broth soup taki Ramen and Gyoza that we serve will be the best ending your visit, warm, tasty and filling.
Our pleasure is to see you can drop by with ease, at times with friends, partners and family, and treat us as a part of your family.
We have a wonderful night out with Goryon San, food and atmosphere are amazing. We will be back for more.
A really authentic Japanese experience. Love their restaurants in Tokyo too! Love this group.
Had a great night and food selection was excellent. I felt the value was a bit questionable with some dishes commanding quite alot considering a small portion on the stick.
Enjoyed the sake tasting
Great menu selection
Very very very yummy food reminds me of japan
We loved the experience and some of the skewers is just other worldly. Highly recommend the quail eggs, LPBs, chicken tail and their umeshu and hakata mules.
Food is great but slow , maybe I was in peak time at 6.15pm and hungry? Our first order came after 45mins waiting. Poor service on floor staffs. We have to looking for floor staff all the time., and also table next to me she also had to raise her hand up when need for service.
A very authentic Kushiyaki restaurant. This is real Japanese cuisine, not an imitator. Excellent food to pair with a drinking session.
So good . Closest tasting Japanese food since I went to Japan
Food was very good & different to any Japanese restaurant around Surry Hills.
We have a very good time, good food, and ambiance.
Open kitchen, professional chef and nice service.
Will definitely return to this joint. Very good food and great ambiance.
You would think its a Yakitori and the place will smell like bbq, but it didn't.
Loved this restaurant. Was like being in Japan, ambience, food and service were all top rate.
Very authentic Izakaya. staff is very professional and food is delicate and beautifully presented.
The food was really good and you had plenty of options. We will come back for sure!
Second time here, never disappoints!!!
An excellent place for a date . Lots going on at the front tables keeps things lively . The food is delicious and good value .
It was our second times to dine there. We all enjoyed the food. We will be back.
A casual restaurant with great vibe! Staff are friendly, food was good & wine list was great!
Interesting signature dishes. General yakitori was not fresh and no taste but other signature one was good. Valuable drinks price range.
All the skewers are good taste. and also，the ramen with dumplings is delicious. we also drunk sake，which is quite good. overall it is a great restaurant and i want to go many times.
Fantastic dinner place, delicious food. The music was very high and the waiters were passion to enjoy guests.
Absolutely fabulous place overall food was great made even by thestaff
I really enjoy the feel of this restaurant-warm and the service is passionate. Full wine menu with special Japanese whisky list and umeshu list. High recommend the Choya apricot drink- light sweet and fresh just match with pork belly skewers. Love the gyoza&ramen in TONKOTSU soup-super rich and thicker- remarkable memory
Loved everything about goryon-san. The food is amazing, and also very good value. Lovely ambience and our kids 7 and 4 also enjoyed the meal. Will definitely be back.
Great food with great service. All the dishes we ordered were amazing. A little bit pricey, but the quality is worth it.
Found this gem on a quiet street last Saturday night. Food was superb and service was excellent! Would definitely be back again soon.
Absolutely awesome !! Food relish and great value!
The experience of dining at Goryon San reminded us of our trip to Japan two years ago. The theatre of eating at the countertop close to where the chefs were grilling meat was fantastic. It took a while before our food came to the table (roughly 25 minutes after ordering) but we didn’t mind. The staff were all very attentive and the food was delicious.
Tasty authentic Japanese yakitories! A good menu selection. Will definitely be back.
good environment but a bit expensive
It was good. Food is good and service is good too. Only down side is the parking difficulties and also no washrooms inside. Too scare to go to toilet alone which is located outside somewhere .
Absolutely loved the food at Goryon. The Croquette was amazing. The salmon carpaccio was delicious. Loved it. Again, Aiyoko took good care of us. This was the third time we went there. Will def go back again.
The food from Goryon San was a great experience. The service was nice, food quality was amazing and it wasn’t that noisy.
We first ordered a few skewers, ramen hot pot and a few drinks. The food were constantly coming to the table. When we did order again for the last skewers, it did take a while.
Would recommend to order a lot first as it will take time to cook.
The bill was a bit pricey than I’d expect it to be, but it wasn’t over the top.
I’d definitely recommend to come here as a group or a date. Would love to come again and sit in front of the chef and watch the magic happen in the kitchen, but it was for solo or groups of two.
Nice ambiance, good food and good value. We were sat at the bar, where we were greeted with a personalised reservation card and were able to watch the chefs grill everyone's orders. An enjoyable visit overall.
I have been there 3 times and I love it, great atmosphere and the food is very outstanding, authentic and creative, mostly grilled/bbq in front of you, recommend sitting at the bar so that you can choose your food and watch the cooking. Sydney is full of second rated Japanese restaurants run by either Korean and Chinese, high end or everyday dinning, however, this is a truly good Japanese one. If you don’t drink, $30-40 per person is plenty for food.
It was very attractive counter seat with see cooking staff during eat.
Staff was very friendly and all dishes were very tasty.
Staffs are not fluent with English, especially floor staffs.
Staffs do not show any interest in interacting with customers, especially it is a new restaurant.
Table maintenance was not properly done.
Menu are not friendly for those who dont eat bacon.
Foods are great, good options of beverage.
We had a great time at Goryan San. Amazing yakitori. Aiyoko took good care of us. Place took me back to Tokyo
We arrived at 6:00pm for our booking and were greeted straight away, which is always nice. When given the menu, we asked “how many skewers do you recommend each?”. The waiter didn’t really understand our question, but we ended on “3”. Unfortunately there was no explanation as to difference in size of skewers, so one of us ended up with 6 mushrooms and 3 slices of zucchini. In addition to this, each skewer was brought up one by one, so each of us ate at scattered times, waiting an average of 10-15 minutes between skewers.
In saying that, the food was delicious. Lots of rich sauces and fresh food too, great Japanese. If you don’t have a sweet/rich tooth, avoid the meat dishes as they can be quite sickly (which we happened to like). Good vegetarian options but unfortunately the seafood options were all covered in meat (wasn’t an issue for us but could be for some). Regardless, this can be avoided with a browse of the menu beforehand.
Overall, good night but I would be hesitant to return based on the wait between skewers and the possible lack of explanation as to how much we should order.
Good place for a drink at night. Amazing food, good services and lovely staffs. On a busy time, they only have two hours to dining. That means you need to order first and talk to your friends later. Deep fried sweet corn is the first priority in my heart. Plum wine is my more fave drinks. Feel like sweet all the time, no matter afternoon or night. Matcha tiramisu is the best night treat. Matcha and Ice Cream in the Baguette are going together so well.
