The meal was the best we have ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. The service was amazing and the atmosphere was outstanding.
Food good, rather expensive but worth it for the views. Fabulous setting but aspects of the restaurant are starting to look rundown. E.g. our table was warped and the one next to us broken. So the place is in need of some TLC. Don’t like the unisex bathroom (especially with children) and it looks like it needs a bit of a scrub. Still, a very special place to go for a treat.
Beautiful venue with excellent service and amazing menu.
Fantastic food and excellent service. Will be back again soon !
Highly quality restaurant in a beautiful setting. Well done everyone at Goonoo Goonoo
We had a lovely brunch with friends and family. Only criticism is the size of the coffee - when the coffee tastes sooo good you want more than two mouthfuls!
We enjoyed a great meal there with family. The share platters are a great way to be able to enjoy a variety of meats and salads. Everything was delicious and the service is excellent. We have been a few times before and have already made a reservation for our next trip. Love it.

6 dining to celebrate a 20th wedding anniversary and to have special family time together during the Christmas break. Our whole experience started by checking into our accommodation at 2pm so we could fully enjoy The Cooks, the tennis court, the gardens, the pool, the view, the buildings....everything restored thoughtfully and stylishly. For our evening meal we shared the squid, charcuterie and scampi. Delightful flavours and beautifully cooked. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. Mains included the pork neck, scotch fillet, duck, barramundi and chicken with potato, taro chips and corn sides. Everyone was very happy; my husband stating it was the best steak he has ever eaten. We ate more! Dessert included the bombe Alaska - ‘best dessert ever’, cheesecake, and sorbet. Our night out was an occasion, nothing was rushed, nothing too much trouble. A very special memorable evening.
We also had breakfast. . Delicious smashed avocado, scrambled eggs, bacon and eggs....the meals were a manageable size.
We couldn’t dine out like that often but I’m so glad we were given a gift voucher so we could experience The Glasshouse and GoonooGoonoo Station. It is an experience we will remember fondly.
I was excited to finally experience fine dining at this restaurant, however, after actually experiencing it, it fell far short of excellence. Upon arrival and when we were seated, we were told that there were items on the menu that weren’t available, one of which were the oysters. The meals lacked fine dining presentation, the price was not reflected in presentation. My husband and one of our employees order a main meal and the waitress said ‘this particular main is quite a small serving, i would recommend you order a side to go with your meal so you are not hungry at the end of the evening’ what an odd thing to say. If the meal isn’t enough for a main perhaps the head chef should consider changing the menu item to reflect a more substantial serving. Not only that, the side that he ordered was a potato salad which lacked flavour.
I ordered a black Angus scotch fillet, I have dined at many restaurants as I am an executive in the hospitality industry. I have never been served a scotch fillet sliced lengthwise that was super thin in my life. A good piece of meat should bot be cut before it is served to the table.
We also ordered a bottled of Moscato, being fine dining I would expect our glasses to be refilled as they got low, however this did not happen, I had to ask for the bottle of wine to be handed to me so I could fill it up myself. I felt the table service was lacking, but when it came to upselling beers to the male counterparts on a table, they were there asking if they would like another before their glass was empty.
I love dessert, I ordered the espresso mousse, the garnish was hard and inedible and the popcorn stale, it was extremely disappointing.
The venue may be lovely but the food did not match the quality expected. It was highly overprice for the quality of the food. This restaurant has a lot to learn about quality service, fine dining food and value for money. I would not recommend the drive to this restaurant. You will get a better meal at a pub.
A memorable evening fantastic food and service. This was our first visit to the restaurant but it certainly will not be our last
I expected a higher quality of food from this establishment.
Our family gathering really enjoyed the experience of lunching at the Glasshouse. We thought the venue was very professional and really sets a standard not achieved by others in the district. Well maybe one other.
We will be back.
our recent experience was lovely albeit the time between sitting and being serviced breakfast was just under an hour and likely due to kitchen staff.
on going to pay for our meal the manager advised this was paid for on her behalf due to the wait, which my wife and i found a lovely gesture and shows why we love coming to the Glasshouse frequently.
Noisey as there were a few Christmas party lunches happening. But otherwise lovely.
Fantastic service and the food was to die for. The lamb shoulder melted in your mouth and what a view!
The first thing you notice about Glasshouse Restaurant is the amazing architecture both inside and outside the building creating a great atmosphere with stunning views. The staff are very friendly and helpful with the menu and the food was delicious. We tried the crisp szechuan pepper squid, the home-made charcuterie, followed by slow cooked pork neck ...it was a bit dry could have done with a bit more sauce and then finished off with creme brulee which was my favourite! The mandarin gel, yuzu sorbet and lemon myrtle & finger lime served along side the brulee capped off the meal perfectly.
Would highly recommend both the Glasshouse Restaurant and Goonoo Goonoo Station as a must visit destination in NSW.
I had the pork neck which was basically pulled pork compressed into a cylinder. It was very dry. There was supposed to be sweet potato purée with it which would have been less then a teaspoon full smeared across the plate. We had broccoli as a side and it was too hard and mostly stalks. My friends ordered a plate of baked potatoes which was quite nice but they brought and extra plate of them so they gave them to us as well. The deserts were very nice, but overall considering it was very expensive I was very disappointed especially with the main meal. Won’t be going back
Service was very slow due to an injury in the kitchen, took over 30mins to get drinks to the table and the bacon and eggs enjoyed by myself and my dad was swimming with oil from the bacon and hashbrown. As we both suffer from reflux, the extra oil on the plate caused us both to feel unwell after the meal. The hashbrown was very yummy, but the amount of extra grease and oil coming from it and the bacon made the meal not as enjoyable.
Wow!!! What an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, staff were very friendly and the atmosphere and view was gorgeous. Will definitely be going back again.
Great food and excellent wine list. They offered many good wines by the glass including a good Champagne by the glass.
We enjoyed a memorable evening with great food, excellent service and beautiful Australian rural views at sunset.
I thought the breakfast menu had been scaled back considerably since my last visit & while it was enjoyable portions were small
Glasshouse for breakfast offers excellent value for money, service and food. It is definitely no more than what you would pay at a café in the Tamworth CBD. It is ideal for a celebratory outing and is worth the short drive. Even in drought the setting is beautiful .
The food the service and the location is unique! Good value! And as I always say , I love taking out of town visitors to this piece of Tamworth’s history with a fabulous modern restaurant!
The food was okay but the menu choices were very limited. The portion size of the meals were very small and the 2 men went home still hungry even after 3 courses! The prices for the food and drinks were extremely high, especially considering the frugal serving size. If your “fine dining” means less food for more money then we certainly will not be returning to your restaurant.
We have visited Glasshouse and stayed a number of times and we have felt for some time that it's not quite what it used to be. The place is still stunning, and a beautiful situation, but small things have slipped a bit - the dead/ dying roses on the bar counter didn't look good, the first thing to be seen on entering. The breakfast was adequate, nothing special. I don't think we would be making the trip from Armidale again; it's disappointing to see a place which had been such a wonderful venue in every way becoming just another highly priced but unexceptional venue.
Always love dining at the Glasshouse!!
Very proud to take our out of town visitors to experience a wonderful historic venue in a modern setting! Highly recommended! And the new shop is a must visit with an eclectic collection of fashion and homewears !
The ambience of the restaurant was most pleasing. We loved the selections on the menu. I chose the Corn fed chicken breast and was not disappointed! It was very tender with a beautiful flavour. Our party of three shared our desserts - bombe Alaska, Creme brûlée an finally the affogato - loved each of them.
The staff were fabulous. They looked after us without a lot of fuss, ensuring all our needs were met. The meals were served promptly and efficiently. Would highly recommend the Glasshouse if you are looking for the ultimate food experience.
Great rustic, rural setting - beautiful views. For the most part our group enjoyed the dining experience. Only negative was that food could have been hotter, plus delay in getting butter on the table until all 20 had their meal meant that for those served first the food was cold by the time the butter came and they got to start eating.
Email I wrote to Glasshouse which to date remains unresolved!
My wife and I dined in the glasshouse restaurant and were looking forward to celebrating our 10 year anniversary at Tamworth’s “best” restaurant. Our night started beautifully as we also booked in to stay the night in the shearer’s quarters. The accommodation and grounds are superbly maintained. We had high expectations for dinner after walking in to the restaurant and admiring the wine cabinet, decor, architecture and view out to the albeit dry countryside.
Waitress service was excellent throughout the night but thats where it ends.
Given the abundance of staff both entree and main were extremely slow to come out, something which was reiterated by other tables nearby.
The meals were Luke warm, steak over cooked, lacked flavour and for the portion sizes, overpriced.
On mentioning our thoughts on the meals, the waitress did offer dessert or a cheese platter on the house, and even though still hungry, declined the offer due to the dissatisfaction of the previous meals.
Referring to your website illustrations and viewing the selection of meals and menu on offer, we were left utterly disappointed with our choice of venue for our anniversary.
After the dinner experience we won’t be attending the breakfast service which we were looking forward to also.
Our breakfast took an hour to be made and there was no one else waiting. As result we had to rush through eating because we needed to get back for work. This was very disappointing.
We have been to the glasshouse a number of times, we have always found the experience exceptional. The atmosphere is hard to beat with the large windows looking out to the rolling hills of Goonoo Goonoo. The difference this time is that I found the food has developed a further level again of sophistication and complexity of flavours.
Beautiful views, excellent service, delicious fresh local produce.
Gorgeous View, beautiful view and very attentive staff.
We were a family of five and found it very comfortable and the acceptance of young people .We loved your new menu thank you for the experience. 🍺🥂☕🏺
Absolutely great, could have stayed much longer, also great experience in the 'Shearing Shed'
Lovely food and drinks, nice way to spend a Sunday lunch
We were so looking forward to this lunch having booked it for our 10 year wedding anniversary but the overall experience was not nice. I have dined before at the Glasshouse but not my husband. The meals were so so small and I was really shocked at their size when they arrived. My previous meals were quite large when I have dined before. My husband ordered the steak & for $42 you would think it would be a decent size, but the entire meal was no bigger than the palm of my hand. I had the barramundi which was also really small.
Our lunch was $128! I realise it’s a 5 star restaurant but when you pay lots of money you would expect value for money.
I’m really sorry but after this experience I don’t think we will be back in a hurry.
Excellent and I would recommend to all. Service and food brilliant.
Absolutely delicious food set in a casual friendly atmosphere which is child friendly and fantastic views - the perfect place to celebrate Father’s Day!
