Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
Top 5 meal of my life. Well done.
Best place ever
Great service and food. A must-do dinner when in Chicago!
All good--- thanks for a memorable experience. Great food

I have tried several times before unsuccessfully to get a reservation at Girl and the Goat. I was thrilled to get one on this trip to Chicago. The cocktails on the bar were great while we waited for our reservation. We came about an hour early to try the cocktails. So glad we did! I loved the Three Best cocktail. Not too sweet and perfect for a warm summer evening. The meal was exquisite. One of the best meals in my life. Just close your eyes and choose something. You can't go wrong. My favorites were the shishito peppers, duck tongues and the caramel popcorn dessert. Wow!
Food was great, service was excellent, so I definitely recommend going here if you like delicious food and an energetic vibe!
Only issue is that I’m visually impaired and this restaurant is definitely not suited for the legally blind. It was way, WAY too dark (the walls were painted black along with dimmed ambient lighting), and the space between tables was extremely narrow. It was nerve-wracking to figure out how to navigate through the restaurant without tripping or bumping into other guests and waiters. Be wary if you have claustrophobia or are sight impaired— just saying.
We attended for a small birthday dinner. It was our first time and I appreciated the small overview given when we arrived at our table. The cocktails were delicious and the food was flavorful. Service was friendly and helpful. They even threw in an extra dessert with a candle for the event.
Staff was very accommodating. My daughter has nuts and seafood allergies so the chef and staff even marked the menu for her and spoke to her specifically about what dishes came out she could eat. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
Great small plates. It’s all about the sauces, complex yet delicate. Outstanding unobtrusive service.
Our server was amazing. So knowledgeable of the menu. Willingness to explain to us new comers. Great recommendations. We were there celebrating my husbands birthday. Definitely a wonderful and memorable experience. Thank you!
OMG. I love good food, and this place nailed every high expectation I had. Short ribs were like heaven on a fork. I am rarely this expressive about food, but it was this good.
Great place to eat. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. Was very loud, but still enjoyed our eating experience. Food was very good, although some of the selections were smaller portions. Overall, incredible experience though. Stop in by if you when you have the chance.
Best food in town
The food was amazing, service was impeccable, ambience was beautiful!
Unbelievable. Start to finish.
Girl & the Goat is definitely a Chicago-must and never disappoints despite multiple visits.
I am not a foodie or typically fuss much about foot. I am a pretty simple eater and find most foods at “fancy” restaurants are not that much better than food at simple ones. However IMO this was some of the best food I have ever eaten. It’s obviously not cheap so go expecting to spend money and you will enjoy.
The perfect meal.
I hate to sound cliche but it really was the perfect meal. Every single thing we got was outstanding. After dinner my wife and I contemplated if there was ever a dinner that we enjoyed more and we could not think of a single time. Can't wait to come back!
Pork shank not flavorful
Goat empanadas were so tiny and okay
Food was absolutely amazing! Service could not be better!
Would rec only because everyone mentions it when Chicago comes up otherwise the food was ok. Desert was excellent as well as the atmosphere. I would not go again.
Food is outstanding, and so was the service. We can’t wait to go back!
Extremely small portions of food but lovely service.
This was my second time at the Girl & the Goat, and I’m sad to say that it was very disappointing this time around.
The music was loud enough that my partner and I couldn’t hear each other at a two-top, and we aren’t old or hard of hearing. For the price you’re paying (which is a fair price for the food), that’s a ridiculously stupid atmosphere to create. The music was also incredibly bad, but whatever. f you’re going to keep the music loud enough that it’s obvious you’re only interested in flipping tables quickly, maybe be honest about it and just give your customers the middle finger when they walk in.
Super lame development for a place that used to be one of the less douchey places in West Loop. Won’t be back.
Wonderful dining experience. We loved the chickpea fritters, green beans and the meat sugo. Recommend 5 plates to split for 2 people if you are very hungry and want a small amount of leftovers to take home. The service was absolutely amazing... when in doubt go with the server recommendations
I loved eating at the Girl & the Goat. The flavor combinations were completely unexpected, but still worked fabulously. Definitely would recommend for an non-conventional adventurous eater.
The food was amazing, truly. The service was overall very friendly, prompt, efficient, attentive. Our server seemed a bit jaded, I am sorry to say. May be just a busy day, but it affected the experience a bit.
Great food and fantastic service. There were clumps of dust on the back of the bench seating where we sat which threw me off a little but overall great experience.
It’s excellent despite I have to book it 3 months in advance via Open Table. Fantastic services, delicious foods, and nice decorations! Congratulations on your 9th celebration on the night of my visit.
One of my favorites in the country. Food, service, ambiance, creativity, and drinks. Has it all.
Amazing food and service. A little loud and pricey though.
It was the most amazing meal I’ve ever experienced. I literally shed a tear.
Absolutely fantastic dinner and wonderful service. Only downside was the rude, loud and vulgar table next to us.
Little loud green beans came out really late but they said it was because they weren’t satisfied with it. Came out a bit salty but overall food and service was great
I love Girl and the Goat. It is the perfect place to being our out of town guests! They loved it.
Food was great and service was very attentive
I thought the idea of eating something that was like a party in your mouth was hyperbole. I have been proven wrong. The food here is like a party in your mouth and it’s not hyperbole.
One of the best meals of our lives!
Enjoyed! A nice evening. Good place to take friends.
