About this restaurant

  • Great for brunch
  • Innovative
  • Good for groups
A world of spices and colours, sizzles and smells. Of secret recipes and even more secret ingredients, passed across tables in noisy restaurants and down through generations. Flavours we can’t even describe. In combinations you wouldn’t believe.

For us, there’s nothing more exciting than discovering these tastes. It’s our passion. Our obsession. It gets us up in the morning and into the kitchen, never knowing exactly what we’ll come across next.

My friend and I booked a table. Turned up to see a notice with a long list of foods not available. Many of which seemed to be veggie options and I’m a veggie. Then as we were being shown to our table we were told last orders for drinks were 6:15. Our table was booked for 6. And that the restaurant was closing at seven! So we walked away. Some prior notice would have been polite. Such a shame as I was looking forward to a meal at giraffe. Have lost confidence in them now. How do I know this wouldn’t happen again on another booking?

Booked a table for 7pm arrived and the place was closed. Why let people book if you’re not open

The lady who greeted us was miserable didn't say much or make eye contact and was just very ignorant and miserable. We ordered tea with our breakfast and she came and put the hot teapot right in front of the baby who then grabbed it. We asked for two separate bills and this seemed to cause an issue. The young man who then served as for the rest of our visit was very polite and friendly and helpful. Food was ok but not as nice as our previous visit.

Once seated, long wait at the table before drinks were brought after ordering. The wrong cider was opened, (my guest excepted this due to not wanting to waste it) Selected of the vegan menu, the salad had far to much oil in (suppose to be a healthy option) the leaves were heavy coated in thick oil,(maybe have the oil on the side) the chocolate torte had an OVERLOAD of coulis on the plate which did NOT go with the sweet dense chocolate torte. Disabled toilets smelt really bad due to the bin lid not attached (children nappies) also the toilet roll dispenser was hanging off with O.O.D stickers to hold it up?

We booked here for Mothers Day Breakfast because I had been once before with my grandchildren and they loved it! Perfect for children, they are given balloons and colouring and puzzle packs on arrival which really do keep them entertained. Service is really good too, food was lovely with full allergen information and veggie and intolerance alternatives including oat, rice and almond milk coffees. Can't fault it and would highly recommend for somewhere nice, clean, fun and reasonable to eat with children.

Ultimately the food was very good and the portion sizes quite generous for a restaurant in the Trafford Centre! It all seemed clean and had been refurbished since my last visit. My only complaint is that I had received a Kids Eat Free email the previous day which I had planned to use for my 12 year old daughter. On arriving I was told the vouchers are for children under six only - not mentioned within the voucher and strange as we had used one only last year. As she is a fussy eater it was difficult to find her something she would eat from a menu of World Cooking. It threw my budget for the day too!

We arrived at 6:05pm to no queue. There was a group of 5 people sat waiting. It took 10 minutes for us to be acknowledged and when we asked how long the wait for a table was we were told 20-25 minutes. We could see lots of empty tables inside and when I asked a member of staff if we could have one of them. She told us they were saved for reservations. Out of the 8 free tables only 3 bookings turned up during our wait. I went into the website and booked for 18:45pm the soonest time available. At 18:45pm I gained the attention of the staff member and told her whilst waiting in the line I had booked for 18:45, she said because we had booked we could be seated straight away. Once inside our drinks order was taken quickly, although there wasn’t any pink gin or lemonade. Our drinks took longer to arrive as the waitress had forgotten to bring them, although she did bring them as soon as we mentioned them to her. I was quite surprised that one of the starters we wanted to order, she told us not to as it was very fatty and according to her everyone sent it back. Why have an item on the menu if you cannot order it? We ordered 3 starters and 3 mains with a side order of onion rings and again the waitress questioned if we wanted to order so much food?? Once the food arrived it was ok, although my friend said her rice bowl was very stodgy and mushy. I normally love eating at Giraffe but found it to be very disappointing on Saturday night.

Came for our second visit with my family - after visiting 12 months ago and the food was lovely. What a difference. The food was tasteless and cold. My husband sent back because his rice was cold - my daughter and I had the naked burrito and both of our rice was cold but we were hungry and ate it anyway. Out of the whole bowl, I would say at least 70% was rice and there was hardly any beef - quality was extremely poor! Also, when our food was being served, one waitress absolutely stank of sweat - NOT hygienic when you work with food! My daughter and I were also sick the following day - the only thing we had eaten was the meal from here - and we both had the same dish. I will definitely not return.
