Giraffe - Bath

Changes to the Covid tier system were introduced on the day of our booking. A member of staff left a kind voicemail stating that the restaurant was closing with immediate effect despite changes to tiers not becoming a legal requirement until midnight that night. We were really disappointed that Giraffe made the choice to close so promptly as we'd travelled for an hour to get to Bath with the specific intention of dining at Giraffe. I appreciated the voicemail, and understand why they closed, but none of the other local shops or restaurants seemed to shut early. I have very specific dietary requirements and had checked the menu out prior to travelling to Bath. We ended up going home without dining due to my dietary requirements and wasted a lot of money on travelling to and from Bath. We usually love the Bath Giraffe restaurant... The food is always perfect, as is the environment and service.

Enjoyed a great lunch. COVID safe. Would definitely recommend and eat there again.

The only question I have is tier 2 i thought you could only go for meals with your bubble. There were a group of girls who were clearly the same age and friends out for a meal in the restaurant. Why can they have a meal together. I went for a spa break with a friend and for our meal we had to sit on sperate tables. Any way maybe im wrong .

Service was ok. One server was great but the rest couldn’t care less. The music was too loud and the place wasn’t very clean. Went here 3 years ago and loved it. Has really gone down hill since. Food was ok and came out within 10 minutes. Thought that was strange. Turns out my girlfriend got food poising from her nachos. Dont recommend sorry

First visit to Giraffe and will certainly be back. There was a super range of food on offer all of which was reasonably priced.
The staff were all lovely and the environment felt safe in these Covid times. Also the service was prompt
But not rushed at all.

Simply one of the best family meal outs we have experienced. Staff were attentive and prepared to go the extra mile. They even offered to charge my phone when I mentioned in conversation that it had gone flat. The food was delicious and the price was way below expectations.

Lovely breakfast, attentive staff and good atmosphere,

Lovely service, very quick and the food was delicious. Felt very safe with hand sanitiser available and everyone wear face masks.

I had the vegan brunch, which is something I make myself and I do it better, I'm sorry to say. The tomatoes where barely roasted, the avocado had too much coriander in it yet was still flavourless and the tofu although well flavoured was only just warm.

Great quick lunch, good happy service staff and welcome ...a good choice of tasty dishes.

Food was excellent and came quickly. Bill took a little while but overall fine.

The food was hot and tasty. Portion size good. Service was a bit slow. 10% added to bill without consulting us! COVID-19 restrictions followed. Unlikely to visit again.

Better places to eat and drink in Bath with better practices in place. No app to order food and drink at table. No one way system in and out. Limited drinks and food menu. Service poor. Staff not engaging or welcoming at all.

Good Servie, Had a two course meal which came out quickly, food was great.

One portion of chips were over cooked, one was under cook and one was fine. Poor table service. Had to keep chasing up our drink orders

Social distancing measures are in place. Food was really nice. Don't go for large fish for 2 pounds extra, not needed as the fish would have been big enough. Booked a table, arrived a bit early but were still seated straight away.

Good place to take children. Impressed with the variety of food. Staff were energetic and so very helpful. The place is busy but they work so hard to keep it clean and safe

Relaxed meal with friends. Shame they have stopped the chicken and prawn salad but we enjoyed the other salads on the menu. We will be back soon

This is the first time that I have visited Giraffe in Bath. The restaurant was of a good size and nicely furnished. The staff were very helpful and friendly, however I did think that the tables were not 2 meters apart. Fellow diners were on the table next to us, more or less at the same sort of distance prior to Covid-19 without any plastic screens or tables facing away from us. Avoid the steak, it was very tuff!

I attended giraffe with knowledge they did a vegan breakfast for myself so we went in when we seen it was quiet to quickly grab something and I honestly was no impressed and sad I went. First of all, the sausage looked mouldy which was a bit off putting but I obviously know vegan food sometimes looks different because it isn’t actually a real sausage but it did taste fine to be fair. And then I started spreading the avocado around to put it on my toast and it was so black and mouldy it was vile. I actually thought it was frozen in the middle for a minute because the texture and colour was so bad. Put me off my whole breakfast please do not serve avocados that aren’t good. Empirically for a vegan breakfast, most people who buy that option probably like/ want the avocado to fill them up etc. Really not happy I payed £9 for one sausage, A handful of mushroom and tomatoes, mouldy avocado and half a plate of tofu that looked like it was slapped together :( disappointed because I’ve visited a giraffe in Newcastle because and the breakfast was served amazing !

The guy who served us that morning tho (didn’t manage to get his name) was really nice and friendly and no way to blame so we couldn’t be bothered to ruin his day With our complains lol

Nice food and service. Good value. Pleasant atmosphere

Interesting and eclectic mix of ideas with some healthy options. If you want something a bit different on the high street than this is one of the places to go. Very fast service so we were in and out in around 30 minutes.

Food was terrible, had to ask them to swap sausage as you could not cut it with a steak knife, breakfast was cold, very expensive, 2 drinks 2 small breakfast £40, staff very rude

The restaurant didn’t even have our booking. Won’t be using opentable again.

Food was vastly overpriced and extremely poor. Had G&Ts, starters and curries, but all were awfully bland, dry and poor quality.

Food was nice but the fact that we had to pay extra for chips was a bit tight. We used the £6.95 meal deal but we ended up paying £8.95 instead just to add chips, how a burger is a meal, I do not know. I also don't like that there is an automatic service charge of 10%; people should be able to choose whether or not to tip, instead of being pressured to.

Our first visit to Giraffe was excellent. Second visit was not as good as the first. Our third visit was not good at all. The food was burnt, tasted the same, and not put together well. Our waitress came across irritable. We only saw our waitress when she took our order, and then again at the end when we had to pay the bill. You could hear she sounded the same when taking the order from the table seated adjacent to ours. It was disappointing as we were looking forward to it. From our 3 visits, food and service was not consistent :-(

Staff didn’t wear PPE- appreciate its optional but also service was pretty sloppy, waitress gave us our bill before we even asked and hadn’t even finished our meal!

Fab meal with fantastic service. Never eaten at a Giraffe restaurant before but would defo visit again.
