Geronimo Aperitivo Bar and Restaurant
Fantastic food, beautiful flavours! Will definitely be back again soon.
Really enjoyed our experience. Was great to be able to share everything on the menu and try different dishes. Very well presented and delicious food. Beautiful décor and sound level just right. A fun night. Thank you. Will be back soon
We had a reservation that was made over a week in advance however when we arrived the staff had to push two tables together to accommodate our booking of 5... the restaurant was not full at this point so it seemed a bit disorganised. I had buttermilk pancakes however they were very flat - I would normally associate buttermilk pancakes as quite thick and fluffy but the overall flavour and additional items on the plate were OK. A friend had pesto eggs and the toast that accompanied was un-edible as it was so hard and another friend had crumpets which was missing the accompanying ricotta as promised on the menu. The coffee was excellent as were the smoothies and juices we had. The staff were nice but a touch disorganised as mentioned. I have not been here for brunch in nearly two years however on the last occasion the food was excellent, I think it has gone down in quality since then. I should also say that no one complained when the staff asked how our food was - overall we had a really great time and no one wanted to bring the mood down with food criticism, I think we just had higher standards based on our last meal there.
We had breakfast for my birthday unfortunately took about 50 min to an hr to get our breakfast and my pancakes were more like thin crepes with way too much berry compote on top not very enjoyable was our first time dining and we were really excited about the potential of brunch here as the ambiance is lovely and service otherwise was great
Food was filling. We couldn't each each course. Wine paired with food. Staff know there stuff. Thanks guys.
Gorgeous waitperson offered lovely service and we enjoyed the ambiance on what was a quiet night. Interesting wine list although only a few Tassie wines by the glass. House bread with caper butter was fantastic. Risotto dish was enjoyable but would have been more so had it been warm - when we got it, it was almost cold...odd.
Slow and forgetful service. It took 3 mentioned to get a glass of wine 15 mins after it was requested. We waited 2 hours for the mains to be served and once it was were shocked at the size of the large share plates, they were about the size of the small plates but twice the price.
We complained to the manager who handled it really well with apology and complimentary drinks, but my party was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
I hope this review helps to give constructive feedback to avoid what seemed to us like complacency.
Food was delicious, Service was disappointing. We booked online with a note for a high chair to be included. When we arrived we were told my the waitress she “forgot” to call us to say no high chairs are provided. Anyone with an active toddler will appreciate this is not ideal! If we’d been told we could have made other arrangements. Our coffees which were all ordered together came out staggered and one coffee was incorrect. Our food took a very long time to come out even though we were one of only 2 tables! Food was sooo good though! So if you don’t mind average service it’s still worth a visit as the food really was delicious. For us, we look for the whole package so although we will probably go back, it won’t be in a hurry.
Excellent breakfast food and we could hear each other easily; a rarity these days.
3rd visit and probably my last - 1st plate took nearly 2 hours and needed me to promt 3 Occassion before arriving
Very under resourced and staff were non engaging vs previous visit ( I was sitting st the bar and it was hard to get a drink or responses )
Food was disappointing to be honest versus previous visits
The noise level was too high but when we asked to please turn it down a bit it was met with a very friendly smile from the lovely Phillipino waitress and she immediately turned it down, she even asked if she had turned it down enough. So no problem at all.
The meals are great and the staff are always helpful. Very enjoyable :-)
Amazing food and service. Absolutely loved every dish and the complementary sourdough and butter is Devine!! The Ausgroni is a must have cocktail.
We just had share plates and sides. The polenta dumplings, eggplant, haloumi, gnocchi & pork belly dishes were all absolutely delicious. The lamb was a bit tough and the stuff under it was a bit mushy and tasteless. The heirloom tomatoes were really pretty ordinary. The bread was MUCH improved since our last visit - really delicious.
Service was great. Wine & beer great. Love the carafes of sparkling.
Tasty food and extensive wine list. Only downside was the service which was slow and fragmented.
Geronimo is a funky venue with a great gin and wine list. The food was really good but some combinations were a little off key. The pigs ears were nicer without the tatziki, but the ceviche and gnocchi we superb. The wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable but needed to be more attentive as our wine bottle was on the bar for staff to pour but on 2 occasions we had to ask for our glass to be refilled. The bill service was also slow so we had to chase to pay. This service pushed Geronimo from 5 to 4 stars as we were paying premium prices for service.
The service was fabulous, the food beautiful.
We were made to feel so welcome.
Would highly recommend to anyone.
Had a very enjoyable meal, the wine pairings were all nicely matched to the set menu and the atmosphere was pleasant.
It is handy to make reservation online. Decent waiting for food after the order. Nice food and very friendly staffs. Like the tap beer over there, too.
Loved our recent visit to Geronimo on Good Friday! The food quality was top notch, with a great variety of share dishes available for all tastes. Service, presentation and decor was also excellent and added to the experience
Polenta balls were great. Carrots excellent. Beans (definitely) and zucchini (maybe) felt like they would have been better warm.
Friendly and polite staff, good meal, nice variety. Well worth a visit. Did think that drinks were a little pricey though.
My first and last. Overrated. Very less portions! Nothing can bring me back.
Service a little slow. Waited 20mins before taking our order on a weeknight
I was really disappointed, as the last time I went was excellent. This time the food felt poorly prepared and over cooked. The staff were not as professional as last time, not helping to match dishes or wine and I felt like they were glad when the evening came to an end and the punters were leaving. For a pricey experience this is not how you want to feel. When asked for feedback, the waitress didn't seem interested in the response - we were not rude in the slightest, just honest about one very over cooked fish dish. The Pizza is always a great, as it was this time, but I was sorely disappointed by the share plates. I would be reluctant to go again for the price if this is a standard experience.
Wasn’t at all in line with reviews we have seen and heard. Disappointing.
My partner and I had a wonderful time at Geronimo's. The food was exceptional and the service was great. Our waiter recommended a cocktail for me and was very helpful in ensuring we ordered enough food for the two of us but not too much. The stand out dish for us was the gnocchi. It was to die for and we were very tempted to return the following night for dinner again! An amazing restaurant, I can't recommend it enough.
Unexpectedly excellent. I would travel back to Launceston from Melbourne just to dine there. Each conurse was superb.
Really loved the vibe of the space. Menu choices suited our DF and G F requirements and an added bonus was that there was a dairy and gluten free dessert. It was lovely to be able to end a meal with a dessert, usually this is not an option. Well done ! The service was friendly, informative and attentive another plus for us!
Geronimo's has been one of my favourite restaurants, however based on my last dining experience, that is not the case anymore. Firstly they were out of my favourite pinot noir, secondly the menu had changed and my favourite halloumi fries weren't on the menu, thirdly the service was hard to come by and lastly the value for money was very poor. The food is very nice, but not nice enough to justify the price.
The food was outstanding. An issue with service at the beginning of the evening when the wrong bottle of wine was brought to us, which took about 30 min to resolve. Overall, we had a very good experience.
What a wonderful place to dine. Food was exceptional, the staff were helpful and friendly, we came away satisfied in every way! Can’t wait to return.
The food was well-prepared and presented. My wife commented on the noise level first because she couldn't hear me across the table. Some damping may be in order. Personally, I like noisy venues. Service was not what I'd expect nor what I have experienced here in the past. Four people served my table and on a number of occasions I was left waiting after making requests, presumably because the person I asked wasn't responsible for delivering what I asked for. I would like one person alone to be responsible for my table yet i know this is not how it is done these days. I'll come back, for certain, but I'd like my suggestions considered. My wife and I had a degustation selection. The serving size was a little of the generous side.
So glad we found this place. Great meal reasonably priced. Beetroot ravioli fab and the haloumi sticks so yummy.
Cafe style restaurant. Server less than forthcoming about the size of the dishes and how many we would need for 6. Obvious once food came out that we had seriously over ordered. Rather “ho-hum” service , slow to deliver wine ; for an average meal, large portions that definitely need to be shared , and average service, it was a bit of a disappointment.
Very creative menu with generous portion sizes. Delicious flavour combinations, would definitely recommend
The food was brilliant and loved the share plates so we could try everything. The haloumi chips were divine but very filling!
Wonderful food and a great experience.
Overall I would recommend for someone else. However my negative comments largely come back to one individual staff member who was taking care of us. They had minimal knowledge of the beverages which included both beer and wine. For example, they had nil ability to describe a beer beyond a "pale ale" and their wine descriptions were not any better. Not the kind of knowledge I'd have expected for the cost. Next, they brought the wrong drinks, all reasonable however we had started drinking them and were informed mid sip and then taken away. Surely instead of wasting produce you take ownership of the mistake and let the patrons enjoy them. Next, we got to enjoy some really nice food, which is why i'd recommend people coming back, however once again our waitress on clearing the table dropped 2 x forks on my partner and nearly a plate. It was almost like an episode of fawlty towers.
I wouldn't be concerned about this sort of thing happening somewhere else, but based on paying for both the food/drinks and the experience it was a somewhat amusing experience.
Good food, great drinks menu and rapid service. They suggested we let them choose the gin for us and they whipped up a few Tassie specialties.
