Great for those who work late!!!
Great environment and food options.
Very cool place with great service, food and wine list, especially French wines. Every staff member seems knowledgeable, well trained and engaged in making your experience special.
Baked oysters—all 6 per order—are the best we have ever eaten!
Loved the food. Always do!
Great all around. Really liked the quality of the food combined with a nice but comfortable casual atmosphere.
Gemma is a place with a fun and chic vibe, both causal and elegant. The food never disappoints. We brought our son and daughter in law and tried 3 different craft cocktails. Even though they sounded "out there", they were extraordinary. We had shishito and okra appetizer as well as the Burrata and tomato. Both excellent. The compressed watermelon salad was a standout. We had the flat iron steak and fritter, the pulled pork risotto (oh my!), but we actually came back for the pork chop! 2/4 chose the chop. This is the best restaurant chop we have had in years. It was prepared with a peach and jalapeño salsa. Juicy, tender and very flavorful. Our server, Allison, was attentive, steering us to dishes according to our preferences and her knowledge of the preparation and ingredients. We had a lovely time at Gemma. Our only disappointment (on multiple visits) is the desserts. They sound and look great, but have little flavor- not live up to what we would expect based on the rest of the menu. A small thing, it's easy to skip dessert and leave satisfied with a fabulous dining experience.
Gemma never let's me down! The food is like something from what you would see on Food Network both in presentation and taste. It is a healthy alternative to other comparable sitdown options in Dallas.
Gemma is always consistently dependable for a great meal and it is the only restaurant in Dallas for a 5 star late night meal. If you have to work late or, in my case, travel to Dallas from the west coast, Gemma stays open until 1:00 am most nights.
Loved the food and ambiance. Only downside was the waiter was a little bit pushing us to place the main order, while we just wanted to relax and take it course by course. Other than that, all good and would definitely recommend the place!
Dinner w/ an old friend.
Best food in Dallas, sophisticated and full of flavor. Highly recommended
I've had Gemma on my list to try for a long time but for various reasons never ended up going until tonight. We tried an arrangement of several entrees and seafood appetizers. Not one dish was a miss from my family of picky eaters. We will be returning soon.
Gemma was delicious!! We tried most of the pasta dishes and each one was tasty. The pasta portions are sized well and for a party of 3 we probably could have shared 2. We also ordered olives and burrata which were seasonal and satisfying! We will be back!
We eat at Gemma often, they never disappoints! From the fig and gouda biscuits to dessert every thing was amazing! We started with the king something mushroom appetizer and the baby octopus. Both dishes were amazing, and the sauces were unbelievable. as entrees we split a pasta dish and a fish. Both also excellent. Dessert and decaf cappuchino were also great. And the service lives up to the food.
Delicious and varied menu. Always pleasant staff. An upscale neighborhood restaurant.
We had another great night at Gemma. The food was superb, cocktail was outstanding, service was friendly but a bit unpolished and ambiance was upbeat. We will be back.
Inventive menu. It’s a short list but everything is a bit different than you would get elsewhere. Wine selection is excellent and the sommelier is helpful.
Birthday for our 27 yo son in law. Food was awesome! Wonderful evening all around.
Delicious food and diligent service.
The space is a little tight and the crowd creates a constant buzz of conversation.
Food was absolutely delicious! Waiters were helpful and pleasant. The wait time for the food was appropriate. Thanks
Excellent meal. One of our favorites in Dallas. Always unique appetizers. Fish is outstanding. Attention to detail is excellent. Always have knowledgeable people available to help with wine selection.
One of my favorites - service, food, ambiance - always outstanding
Early Sunday dinner for 3 of us. Always delicious food and solid service. The som made nice Willamette Valley Pinot and Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc recommendations. Two bottles of <$75, two share plates, two entrees and two desserts. $279 incl 20% tip.
A meal at Gemma never disappoints!
We arrived on time for our 8:00 reservation and were seated immediately.
We were greeted with an offer of cold water right away and our waitress, Ashley, followed up a minute or two later. She provided excellent service throughout the meal.
I had some questions about wine and Ashley sent the sommelier over. He was very helpful and suggested a Sancerre that was perfect with our food.
There were 4 of us and we shared appetizers of fried Castelvetrano green olives with pecans and albacore tuna with sweet pepper escabeche. The olives had a light, crispy coating and were delicious, as were the pecans. The tuna was presented beautifully and was cool, fresh and tasty.
After appetizers we had salads. The little gem caesar was a nice size with just the right amount of dressing, with plenty of fresh parmigiano reggiano. The heirloom tomato salad was awesome, and you better get it now as this is the best time of year for tomatoes. I didn't taste it but my friend who had the grilled peach salad said it was excellent.
For entrees 3 of us had the pacific halibut and the fourth had the Windy Meadows chicken porchetta. The halibut was cooked perfectly with a crust on top that I am very envious of as I can't seem to master that skill. It was served with chanterelle mushrooms, braised baby bok choy, parmesan broth and cashews. Excellent! The chicken was sliced breast meat covered in herbs, with ricotta dumplings.
After all that food and 2 bottles of wine were too full for dessert.
This is a tough reservation to get on the weekend, but if you plan far enough in advance you will be happy you did!
One of my husband and I’s favorite places in Dallas. Consistently excellent food and service and wine Recs. Our go to place for a wonderful evening.
This is the second time I have been to Gemma… The first time was an outstanding experience and this time did not disappoint. As usual, the service was prompt and courteous. The waiter and the sommelier were both knowledgeable. The food was tasty and prompt. The value overall is very high… I don’t normally refer to price but I have to say that the prices, especially the wine, are very reasonable. I will definitely be back.
Gemma has been one of our favorite restaurants since it opened, and this visit if anything only reinforced our favorable opinion. The food is consistently excellent, and we especially appreciate that the portion sizes are reasonable. The emphasis is clearly on taste, not quantity. The service is nothing short of delightful. Every time we go, we say we should go back more often!
Some of the kindest waitstaff around!
The uni lobster spaghetti was the grossest thing I’ve ever had. 2 of the 3 of us got it and didn’t eat. Server never asked if something was wrong or if he could get us something else. Won’t be back.
I first came to Gemma in 2016. Being from the SF area, it’s like being home. The meals are carefully crafted to give you a wide variety of flavors that pair well together. The staff are knowledgeable and honest about the menu and service is top notch.
I wish I lived in Dallas to eat here every week!
Best food in Dallas. Jake the bar-keep is outstanding. Scones are to die for. Only complaint is lack of broader selection of oysters....need a sampling of Pacific NW. Menu is incredible otherwise.
Awesome late night dinner. Wonderful menu and wine selections.
The staff treated us wonderfully! And the food was delicious. We can’t wait to return
The Gemma menu offers many unique food selections, all of which are expertly prepared and presented. When you eat at Gemma, you are going to have a very special experience that will keep you coming back frequently.
Very limited menu
Love Gemma for our pre-theatre dining! Such an easy drive to Fair Park. Always great food, wine and service. See you next time!
Dishes were small but VERY tasty and well presented! Flavors were excellent as well as choices on the menu.
