Although we enjoyed the food would have liked more traditional Greek lamb and pitas to be on offer as well.
Great food. Best souvlaki in Melbourne. Chicken from the pit was amazing with the sauces and spices.
I have been wanting to eat at Gazi for a long time. It was definitely worth the wait. I celebrated my 23rd birthday at Gazi and it was a fun night with amazing food.
Food was amazing but unfortunately our original waitress finished for the day and the rest of the staff didn't seem to know anything about our second course(dessert) so after waiting quite some time we had to wave a waiter down across the room and ask if he could find out what was happening with our dessert order. He then set down our plates for the next course which had old dried food still on them. After fresh plates our dessert was served and it was worth the wait! 😊
Beware of the soft shell crab souvlaki. It completely burned my mouth roof as soon as I had a bite. I'm still recovering. So painful.
Service and atmosphere were great though.
The food was ok. Some highlights some average. Service was very good. Price over average.
Food is good, chicken, chip, dumpling, souva very delicious. Seafood portion is extremely small for the price and so boring. Our waiter was very good, a bit busy but still attentive. Cocktails 🍹 are amazing
Fantastic service with a smile and excellent food. We were full all afternoon!
For a casual get together Gazi was perfect. Food was outstanding, - love the Verve champagne special, and surprisingly well priced. Variety is there, and pleasingly my food allergy was taken care of. I
would certainly recommend Gazi.
Out favourite restaurant delivers the goods again! George was there this time so that’s an added extra element of excitement
A very enjoyable meal. Restaurant very busy but service was great and food was delicious
Overcharged $16.50 for spinach rice dish we didn’t order and which was not served to us.
Great food. The chips were amazing!!!!! Soft shell crab pita also great. Friend enjoyed the bento boxes
Really great service from beginning to end. High quality food, knowledgable staff and great space. Coped with gluten free really well too for my wife and they made a great effort for her birthday. Would visit here again.
Although we enjoyed the flavours in the meals, the main meal fish was so tiny, not even the length of a ‘pen’, and a $20 mainciurse, we were sharing, and my guest was visiting from overseas and it was her birthday.
We made a considerable complaint, with no response.
We were disappointed, and so looking forward to visiting your restaurant.
Perhaps in future let people know that the fish is a smaller main.
Took friends visiting from overseas and they thoroughly enjoyed the food especially the soft shell crab souvlaki and the dips. Great atmosphere, overall a good night out.
Amazing, best meal we have had in ages. Highly recommend if wanting an amazing meal. We were visiting Melbourne and it made the trip
Great atmosphere and food shared with mates on the annual footy trip from Perth.
Fantastic friendly service , delicious food , generous portions and a good atmosphere . I’ll be back again 😁
Upbeat authentic Greek Restaurant with lovely waitresses. We enjoyed our delicious dinner and I can't wait to return!
Food and service was great. Trying to change the booking from 9 to 11 was not easy as they wouldnt take the extra 3 people without doing a banquet! Ridiculous really. 6 were children and only staying an hour before a show we were going to.
Tasty and down to earth food. Especially liked the feta and orgenao fries!
It was our first time eating at Gazi so we chose the 8 course set menu. My husband and I are not gargantuan eaters but we had skipped lunch to enjoy our meal and chose the set menu because we wanted a balanced experience. Each dish on its own was delicious - but the cumulative effect of a set menu that was high in sugar and salt with nothing green to balance it was unpleasant. The closest we saw to vegetables on any of the tables around us was a corn cob smothered in cheese. I understand it is the middle of winter but the salt and sugar overload was a killer. Sorry Gazi, but with the quality of other restaurants in Melbourne - we won't be back
Food was oily, wrong order came out, whole experience underwhelming. I really felt that The meal and experience did not represent value for money.
Amazing service and incredible food! Thank you, Gazi!
Everything was beautiful! The stand-out dish for us was the kotopoulo (chicken) it was cooked absolutely beautiful! It just melted in our mouth! The Arni (lamb) was also beautiful to!
Outstanding dishes, great service and a lively atmosphere. A great night out!
Food was great, a bit noisy.
Really wanted a big table of 10 but had to split it in two and it was on opposite sides of restaurant.
Never fails to disappoint - I always on the must do places to dine when visiting from New Zealand :-)
We had dinner last night to celebrate our recent engagement.
For seven people, we were seated in the same space as five - this was very tight and loud and it was difficult to talk to one another.
Although I noted it was our engagement dinner in the booking, this wasn’t acknowledged and the service was quite poor - staff rushed out the dishes but then took an embarrassingly long time to come back and clear them. They kept taking the drinks menu away and needed to be eye-balled to come back. We ordered two bottles of prosecco but the second bottle wasn’t put in a cooler - warm sparkling is less than ideal! As it was left on the table, we expected the staff would come back to put it on ice or something but this didn’t happen.
For the set menu, we were surprised to find that the 10 piece menu for a vegetarian could cost the same price as one that includes lamb! Also, dumplings at a Greek restaurant is random?! Perhaps a stuffed capsicum or eggplant would be more appropriate.
For a very expensive meal (over $100 per person), we were quite disappointed.
Couldn’t complain. The food and service was fantastic. It being a popular place doesn’t take long to fill up so if you don’t like a bit of noise I’d recommend going at 12 just before the rush.
My sister has been tellling everyone it is the worst food she has ever had. We got three plates but they came about 10 minutes apart. The chicken was bland and we didn’t have any salt or pepper to season it with and the chips incredibly salty even with the feta to the side. But the pumpkin salad was good though a little unusual - 2 pieces of pumpkin with lots of sauces. The dessert was a weird combination of passion fruit and peanut butter which had no flavour at all. I enjoyed the meringue shell. We were put in a dark corner so couldn’t really see what we were eating. The service was good though. I am disappointed for my sister as she doesn’t get out much since having her baby. So this really wasn’t a good experience for her.
Excellent food and best of all very helpful with gluten free options (coeliac disease not lifestyle choice). Numerous gluten free options and flavours abundant. Great for a group of friends to share food and wine. Wonderful happy ambience and friendly staff.
Basic food. I was expecting more from the flavours, the pita, dips etc. Nice atmosphere and fair prices for lunch in Melbourne.
My friends and I booked a table at Gazi - expecting it to be amazing - it was anything but. When we arrived our table was not ready and we were left by the bar for 15 minutes - this would not have been that bad however we were completely rushed to finish our meal and get out of the restaurant within an hour. While the waiters were nice, we felt as though our dining experience was not as great as it could have been. The food was pretty average to be honest - the dips were amazing however the lamb, chicken and chips were not great.
Wouldn't recommend and wont be back.
Great night with the family. Service and staff were exceptional.
We loved our dining experience at Gazi -We booked a Saturday night dinner as were only in melb for the weekend and unfortunately made an error with the date booked somehow. The host was so nice and accomodating and made sure we still got a table and even recommended somewhere for us to have a drink whilst we waited. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious -Highly reccomend a visit!
I absolutely love this place however the noise level ruins what could be a perfect dining experience. Having to yell at the rest of the group on your table is exhausting and I leave with a headache.
Apart from this, the food is exceptional and fantastic attentive staff.
Great food and service. We loved our lunch there however just found the music a little loud at times which made conversation difficult especially for a lunchtime seating.
Service as we walked in was brilliant. Restaurant is very loud hard to hear. Food was great. At the end when we went to pay waiter became very stroppy as we split the bill in 3 and were going to leave a cash tip - it appeared he was unhappy with us splitting bill - he threw peoples cards back at them - we ended up leaving no cash tip because of it. Terrible way to end a great night.
