Gazi Ratings and Reviews
The food, when it eventually came out, was quite nice, but the service was not very good. Our dinner items and entrees arrived completely out of order, and several items were missed until we reminded our waiter. We were then told that some of our items had been mistakenly delivered to other tables. It was my dining partner’s celebratory dinner for finishing a masters degree and his last evening in Australia before heading to the US. We are so disappointed. The staff apologised about the mistakes and provided dessert, but it didn’t make for the fabulous evening it was supposed to be. It was also quite noisy, and we were definitely yelling at each other to be heard for the first half of the evening.
Amazing experience although was overly loud atmosphere - I usually enjoy a bit of liveliness in a restaurant but conversation was way too hard here. The food was definitely worth it although I would have ordered more had the waiter advised that the souvlaki wasn't a full portion and that I should have ordered 2 rather than 1. We ordered chips to share but still wasn't enough, we should have ordered more food. The food was amazing and I'll be back for sure!
Music too loud felt like we had to scream to talk, the 2hr sitting when having a banquet is a joke, we were rushed to eat our food so quick. the menu has changed, not a fan. the donuts were so fried there was nothing doughy about them, they were hard as rocks. wont be back
Ordered the lobster souvlaki. The size and quality was very disappointing. The size should've been mentioned to us upon serving. The disappointment was mentioned to staff who took on board what was said with upmost professionalism and respect. Other than that all the other meals were lovely. One of us who is a regular diner would love to see the crab souvlaki return to the menu...oh and the saganaki!!
The waitress we had was very annoying, coming up to clear plates from the table while we were still eating after we told her multiple time not to. As soon as the plates were cleared she wanted us to settle the bill straight away - 45 minutes into our dinner booking which per the website was a 2 hour reservation. We left to continue our night elsewhere as we felt like we were being pushed out. Very disappointing as I have always loved Gazi. Ps bring back the onion souvlaki that was the best item on the menu!!
Always a good vibe in here. We choose Gazi to eat prior to attending any concert at Rod Laver arena. It's just a 10-15 min walk away. Love love love the soft shell crab souvlaki. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and attentive to the table. Happy to answer any questions about the menu. A good affordable option for a quality meal.
The food was fabulous but the service staff were way to casual. Given a menu to 'share'. Had to ask for water, ask to place food order, ask to see wine menu, ask to then order wine, ask to have a clean plate between courses. Then they started cleaning all the chairs etc around us at the bar at 9pm. Didn't feel the service matched the professionalism of the back of house and the great food.
Service was slow for drinks. Took quite a while to get a good menu and to order. Drink delivery was also slow. Food was amazing. Enjoyed all the savoury courses. Desserts were disappointing compared to the previous courses. We did the 10 course menu and had plenty of food for our group of 6. Service from the general waiters was average but the girl and guy who wore black were great. Assume they were supervisors. Overall a good experience and we would go back as the food was great.
I am a regular visitor and had the chance to introduce a friend to the Gazi experience for the first time. I'm pleased to say that she was absolutely blown away by the food. It more than exceeded her expectations - the food, as always, was divine. Gazi is my go to place for a decadent treat and never disappoints.
We had high hopes for our lunch but were a little disappointed. Bread/dips great, cheese/rhubarb wonderful, chips? really? tuna skewers - needed something else, sauce or something, chicken nearly wonderful but under-seasoned and no salt on table. Dessert - rather dry and hard - chocolate doughnut ball? Only had one. (Another diner, not Carole) Sorry it couldn't have been a better review.
This is the second time I have been to Gazi and again it lived up to expectations. Firstly the atmosphere is vibrant and exciting. Secondly the staff are always friendly and enjoy a laugh with you. Finally the food....simply delicious!! There were 5 if us and we all decided to have the 8 course ‘Doing it GreekStyle’ honestly this is the best way to go! From the pita and dips to start, tasty spit chicken and those crispy crunchy feta chips.... delicious. And what can I say about those Greek donuts at the end ... Yum! A place to dine with friends and enjoy a fantastic meal... as you roll into the taxi at the end of the night!
Quite disappointed. Was told I could not have my cake which is fine rules are rules. Then they brought it out anyway with a small cake we did NOT even order at desert only to take my cake away within five minutes. I found this quite rude and upsetting. Then they charged us for the small cake we did NOT even order. Poor service and wuite disappointed, would not recommend.
we had the sharing menu, we got fries with feta, but they were not fries at all...we were served crunchy scratchings of potatoes, the oily bits of potato (those leftovers when you fry a whole lot of fries...) disappointed for a well known restaurant and famous chef!!!....simple things count!
