The chicken was amazing! The brocollini was amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed everything! The only thing I was a bit disappointed about was the dessert that lights on fire. I thought there would be more theatrics involved as I’ve seen some that have the wow factor down pat but it tasted great! Overall, very happy!
Service was very rushed and unwelcoming - dips, entree and mains were finished 35 minutes after arriving, which is fine if you want to be in and out however, for a $250 Easter Sunday dinner this was not really what we were after. We were not offered any dessert or coffee after the mains. It seems they just want to get you out and squeeze in another group before the next sitting. The mains we unaccompanied by even a few chips or a small salad/garnish on the plate. The food itself was fairly good but I’ve definitely had better Greek food than this elsewhere. Just all seems a bit slapped together and has no ‘Wow’ factor which so many other Melbourne restaurants can and do provide. This was our 2nd visit here after a fairly similar experience the 1st time - sorry but we won’t bother for a 3rd time.
Execellent venue, friendly service and atmospheric.
Delicious food and extensive wine list will make us come back. We had a great evening.
Accomodated to our table's variety of allergies (nut, soy, diary, shellfish). Food was amazing.
Food is excellent. Service is stretched and a bit patchy.
Great food and ambiance - highlight was the outstanding customer service!! Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service, nothing to complain about at all.
The service at Gazi was friendly and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was beautifully prepared and presented and in a timely manner. I was very happy we were seated further into the restaurant as the tables closest to the bar were bigger and it can get very loud. Overall, a lovely dining experience and we will be back.
All I kept thinking was ‘Wow, George!’ Gorgeous food combinations and taste sensations with stand outs being the Kataifi prawns and the pumpkin side dish. The tenderness of the braised beef in the souvlaki was amazing and delicious, paired perfectly with flat leaf parsley to offset the richness.
The staff sparkled. The Maître D’ was the best I’ve encountered in many years of great dining experiences and restaurants. Warm, sincere, interested and genuine, he clearly loves his job. Our waitress was quirky and fun.
Only one slight drawback was the way the noise carries and it’s a pity you can’t choose your patrons, with a couple of tables behaving like they were in a zoo, rather than a beautiful dining space. Seriously, who hangs from the suspended table wires and shouts obscenities in a restaurant?
Wouldn’t put me off returning.
Food was amazing service was outstanding but the noise was nearly unbearable.
Food decent bit pricey. The noise level was uncomfortable.
Absolutely delicious food, lively ambience and great decor. Will 100% recommend Gazi to anyone.
Service not great but food made up for it
Fantastic food and service. Very helpful in accomdating our pram. Very cheerful and helpful waiter.
As always, the food was amazing. So much of it too! And the service was very accommodating and friendly. Thanks.
Really good food and good service; one issue I thought was very annoying way buying the 3-dip combination does not at all come with enough bread. It's just bread guys, come on. A whole separate thing of bread was just enough to finish the dip. Not sure if we got charged for the extra bread but if so that sucks
Lovely food and service but just a bit too crowded for a romantic evening. Very hip and happening!
One of the best places to eat in Melbourne. This was coupled by thoughtful and caring service by Holly who made the experience even better . I waited a long time to share the experience with my daughter and thanks to the food and Holly it surpassed my memories of before . Thank you so much . I’ll be back .
Great food, great restaurant. My only complaint is that it was really chilly! I had to wear my coat and the two ladies at the next table were also complaining.
Well presented restaurant, but way too noisy. Had to speak loudly to be heard, had difficulty talking with the staff as very hard to hear. Drinks and entrees were perfect, but the pork belly on the night was overcooked and dry.
Great fun, delicious cocktails and food. Friendly and efficient service. Would gladly return!
We two had a really nice dinner: dips with pita, and fried cheese for starters, a shared leg of lamb with a side of broccolini for the main course. The portions were perfect and the food was excellent. The drinks (cocktail for me, wine for my wife) were also good and not overpriced by Melbourne standards. All in all an excellent meal and a good value to boot.
Good interiors but thats the only drawcard. Pushy waiters who wanted us to spend a lot.
The staff were very efficient and as I am Coeliac it was wonderful to be able to eat the delicious Greek inspired food. The gluten free souvlaki was delicious!! We informed them we were going to the theatre and the food arrived at our table within a very short time.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. Dips were average but i would still go back. The resturant is very loud so best not to go for a business meeting otherwise delicious
Loved the food. Crowded and Bustling. Loved the fact that the food can be ordered as single items and we can taste all the different items. Highly recommended.
Our experience was overall fantastic, was 3rd visit and didn't dissapoint. Only criticism was wine is way too expensive per glass, therefore I only had one.
I have been here before and thought I’d take my husband to enjoy the good food but was really disappointed ...
We had the taramosalata which was very nice & the chips with feta which were fresh and crispy. These were the only stand outs.
We had the Pork belly from the charcoal grill - it was dry, tough and tasteless. We also ordered the greens which were ok.
The waitress kept hassling us to take plates away etc and they couldn’t have needed the plates as we went for an early dinner so they weren’t busy.
Even after the poor experience we decided to order dessert with one last hope..ordered the Greek donuts with Nutella - they were tough and chewy certainly not fresh.
Overall - this place is definitely overrated and has gone downhill.
We ordered the oven baked barramundi which was lovely.
Arrive early as 3 of the dishes we wanted had sold out. Everything is so tasty that the substitutes did not disappoint. Our waitress wasn't the most helpful, forgot half our order and wasn't very friendly - but the rest of the team are very professional so it balanced out. Fun night with friends from the USA and Gazi is a great venue to connect / reconnect over great food.
Everything about Gazi was great apart from where my partner and I were seated.
We were seated so close to the cutlery / cashier screen that every half a minute or so, staff were clattering plates, knives and forks for new customers. Everytime this happened, it was painfully loud and my partner and I couldn't even hold a conversation.
In addition, staff were constantly brushing past our table and to get drinks from the bar as well as standing right near our table to use the cashier screen which was really uncomfortable and annoying. If the table was at least 1m away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy staff it wouldn't have been such an unpleasant experience.
On the upside, the food was delicious and was served within minutes. Staff were also patient in explaining the menu (which took 5 minutes to be given to us as we patiently waited).
Great service and stunning food! The chicken was mouth watering
Food was below average , sent sides out without mains. Felt very rushed, long wait at door 10 minutes plus to be greeted
My second visit to Gazi, last trip 3 years ago, which we absolutly loved. This time around , disappointed with wine selection and the volune of music was just far too loud for a restaurant, you could not talk or hear one another ( we were a table of six)
Food was good, and waitress lovely but not 10/10 sadly
So wont be rushing back
Tasty food, great vibe and a fantastic night. Get thee under the terracotta pots stat!
Fantastic variety of food, loved the soft shell crab souva!
Amazing food and great service! Our meals were out so quickly. The lamb should was to die for! Will be back, highly recommend!
Amazing food, Amazing service would definitely be back.
Everything was fantastic, we had the 7 course tasting menu, all so good except the Loukoumades, very disappointing they were hard and dry, not much flavour at all.
