The menu was more limited than the menu online. The only disappointment was the beet salad which lacked in flavor.
The food took a very long time to arrive, and when it did it was cold and the order incomplete.
I was quite disappointed.
I must also add that the staff is very friendly and the manager did make an adjustment in the check for the inconvenience.
Short but imaginative menu in a friendly (and loud!) environment. Try the fried chicken!
The menu was very promising but the food had little flavor. Most of the dishes needed seasoning and acid. The only exception was the General Tso’s cauliflower which was very tasty.
Wonderful experience at the Garden
Absolutely wonderful staff and great food
The setting is very nice service very good but the menu leaves a lot be desired in my opinion - the Brassiere was lovely on a previous visit -I guess Asian Fusion simply isn’t for me I think I would return for cocktails only
The food was good. Different, but good. Took forever to get drinks. The waitress needed to talk louder due to noise level. The delivered our appetizer and drink order twice. We had them already. The noise was beyond loud. Music made me feel like I was at a rave. Thump! Thump! Thump! Too much noise!!!!
Food is fine but nothing special…..
Small pour of expensive wine.
Atmosphere good except too loud music inside.
Will go back but not for food.
Came for a quick casual lunch I'm here all the time
Absolutely love everything about it !!!!
Needed more staff and more selection
Not bad, but not great. Definitely needs work but I’m hoping that they improve. The positive is that most of the meals were successful and tasted good. However in my personal opinion even though everything was tasty to me it was overpriced. The service is where I feel needs the most improvement. Everyone was extraordinarily friendly but seemed very overwhelmed and very disorganized. Arriving early to the reservation, we still managed to wait while they seated other people that arrived after us and still managed to give away our table. Then ended up setting us at a table that had been open during the entire duration of our wait. Then upon sitting at least 15 minutes went by with absolutely zero acknowledgment to our party of six while other tables around us had service and we were passed by. One of our diners had to actually get up and go to the hostess stand to ask what was going on. If we hadn’t done that I don’t know when we would have been acknowledged. However our server was extremely nice, extremely friendly, and extremely positive. Food was very slow to come out and overall for the experience to exceed two hours was well more than what it should’ve been. What bothers me most is I found a place last minute could’ve accommodated us for a better experience but booking through OpenTable they claim they can charge you up to $25 Per person for a last-minute cancellation and I didn’t wanna take that risk. I personally won’t be dining here again for awhile because I felt they couldn’t handle everything and for the price I felt there are much better options in town.
Food was very simple, not as it was described and overpriced. Staff was friendly but clearly not properly trained. For example, serving soup without a spoon and not giving one until we ask for it.
Great menu for brunch!
Food was not very good noise level way too loud and very limited menu
Food, service, ambiance was great but it felt like the AC was turned off on a very hot day.
Beautiful atmosphere in downtown Newport, but very overpriced for very little food. Spent $200 for 4 of us and left hungry.
Food/cocktails and vibe are always A+
Simply awful. The lobster wontons appetizers were filled with air. The main dishes took forever to come, like over 30 mins and when it came it, the chicken wasn’t edible. We requested a table outside and were told none were available even though multiple tables remained opened throughout our meal. We asked to speak to a manager and he appeared completely unbothered about our concerns. This is a pricey place if you are going to charge $15 for a grill cheese I expect it to come in under a half hour.
The ambience and music is such a vibe! We would come here all the time if we could.
Lovely courtyard setting for our dinner. The burrata salad with lobster was excellent, as were the mojitos.
Dinner took about 35 minutes to come to table. Fries were cold. Not a very good value. Very much a tourist trap.
Great place. We will return. Small but ingenious menu and drinks. We were seated outside where it was quieter. We might have gone elsewhere if we could not. Inside was too noisy for our taste. Why go out if you have to yell to talk?
Great atmosphere with small tapas to share. The menu was diverse and unique. We shared 2 small plates (chicken skewers and short rib tacos 😋) and shared a cheeseburger. They cut the burger and divided our salad and delivered us our own plates w our 1/2 burger! I love that when a restaurant knows you’re sharing and they divide it for you!! The drinks were unique and delicious!
Dont bother, overpriced food with terrible atmosphere! As my older daughter said, "This place has an identity crisis!" "Outdoor seating" is a grimy picnic table with a yellow and red circus tent ceiling which makes everything look weird. Tacky fake greenery hangs from the ceiling. Dont order the beet salad! It's just a mound of chopped beets! After paying a ridiculous amount of money for average food and service, we walk by their sister restaurant in town, the Brassiere, and see a much more varied menu, for less $ in what looked to be a much nicer interior.
Our waiter was overwhelmed/new which we were very accepting of, but he messed our order up multiple times, ordered us the wrong thing, forgot a glass of wine, steak was way overcooked. I understand everyone is short staffed, but somethings should still be mentioned. Restaurant decor was very nice.
Food was great. Will become a favorite spot in Newport. My only criticism would be the hefty price for a mocktail that was served in a very small glass packed full of ice. Not worth it.
Beautiful ambiance and drink presentation! All in the details.
Overrated and loud. Service was extremely slow and apathetic. Food was ok but menu selection was minimal. Thought the ambiance would have been much nicer give all of the hype, but it wasn’t. Music selection was annoying
The ambiance was warm. The hostess greeted us with a very welcoming smile. She arranged for a better table when we requested even though we were a last minute reservation when she learned we were celebrating our anniversary. The waiter took a little long greeting us but he was extremely busy. When he did come he also was very welcoming and attentive. When we received our food the presentation was good. The food itself was disappointing. The Udon noodles were well over cooked. They were quite soggy. The lobster was chewy and the whole dish was bland. Another dish we had was the Kale Miso salad with lobster. It didn’t have the Parmesan as published and the lobster was also chewy.
The manager came to the table and asked how our meal was so we explained to him our disappointment in the food. He was gracious and apologetic and made our entree’s complimentary. Because of the great service I would consider giving it another try, but the food was disappointing.
Picnic tables were not comfortable for me and the surfaces were sticky.
We ate outside which was great. Ryan our server was awesome. We informed him that we were in a bit of a rush to get to the ball game, so it made it happen for us! Just had small plates, the Tuna poke tacos were great, chicken skewers were good. Our grandson said the chicken fingers from kids menu were a "9"!
Drinks were excellent!
Would return for full meal next time.
The food and restaurant was great, however our waiter was nonexistent. We saw multiple tables outside our waiters section have a great experience with timely service, but ours was not up to par. I asked the person who dropped our food off for a beer menu and when our waiter came back, instead of asking if we wanted something else to drink (which would have been observed by our empty glasses) he looked at the menu and took it without a word. We hope next time to have better service so we can fully enjoy the restaurant.
Nothing about this restaurant was good. Although I had a reservation, the hostess seemed very confused when we checked in and it took her quite a few minutes to decide where to seat us. Once seated, it took a good 15 minutes before a waitress came over for drink orders, then we never saw her again. At least another 15 minutes went by before a different server came over to take our order. He couldn't answer most of our questions, and gave info that proved to be wrong about others. Food took over 45 minutes to arrive, was fair at best, and not as described by our server.
Stoneacre is an absolutely beautiful restaurant! The ambience was great and the food was amazing! The service was absolute crap… We were the first ones in the restaurant and we had to wait over an hour for our food. On top of that the waitress barely came to our table and the crowd was generally not very happy. We also had a bride with us getting married later in the day! I would definitely give it another shot and cross my fingers for better service.
Food was mediocre at best, overpriced for what you get, and we were seated in a side room with no ambiance meanwhile there were plenty of open tables in the main section.
First, the good… our food was mostly decent. We started with the cauliflower app that was tasty but a little soggy. Two diners ordered the burgers and thought they were amazing- juicy with a tangy sauce. Fries were crisp and tasty. I had the Tuna tartare tacos, which were good but a little bland- but the kale Caesar was below average and needed more dressing and more massaging into the Kale. My son had a burger that was good. Service was quick. The interior decor was interesting and the outdoor portion looked really fun.
The not as good… the restaurant was super-loud, which we didn’t like it as a family but probably fun for a younger crowd. Waitress was efficient but definitely not very friendly. Pricey menu with very limited options.
Wouldn’t recommend for a family.
Great brunch! The drinks are great, came back 2 hours later for more 😃
Second time at Stoneacre Garden. The space is casual and fun. Large outdoor area with picnic table type seating & heaters, except for 2 tables that are not under an awning. Two large bars on the first floor, one inside (doors can be open) and one outside. Upstairs is a smaller open bar that has a harbor view (it was closed due to weather both times we were there). Both times I (along with the other friends we dined with) struggled with the menu. A combo of Asian and American choices but little offerings that are on the healthy side. The Tuna Poke Tacos were very good (3 to an order) but would rather skip the fried Wonton crips that were like a street taco size and just have the tuna which is the star. Salads are fine but boring. Each time most of us got the market fish special which I have to say was excellent although all of us would have preferred grilled fish to pan seared. This time we had swordfish with seasonal veggies in a sauce that really was delicious. Overall, it’s a good place to gather or meet at the bar. Mixed review and would recommend but suggest you check out the menu prior.
The food was excellent… pan-seared swordfish, kale Parmesan salad, burrata jicama appetizer, butter cake and coconut cream desserts… innovative and delicious.
Untrained service staff, randomly rude, table in an overly heated indoors, and music so loud that all patrons were shouting made the evening hard to enjoy. Party of four with one cocktail and no other alcohol totaled $233 which seemed egregious. Even in a labor shortage, the service and ambiance rendered the overall value way below par. We will not be returning.
