Don’t be fooled by the January Lobster special. It wasn’t very special. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the fresher seafood options. Other than being disappointed by the special, we had a lovely evening and were attended to by the very accommodating and knowledgeable wait staff.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Gambaro. We do love the restaurant and it lived up to our expectations as always. The waiter was friendly and efficient recommending a number of options from the menu which we ordered. The crayfish thermadore was excellent as was fresh vegetables ordered as an accompaniment. The restaurant was quite full and there was a nice atmosphere in the dining room. Overall this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
Gambaros was a family favourite back in the 70's. Amazing (and congratulations) that it is still operating after all these years. Great history. Not at all in the fine dining category that it once was but still an enjoyable evening out. Flavours were good (and in some dishes adventurous) , service was friendly, wine selection very good, ambience acceptable though a little noisy.
On current Brisbane restaurant prices I would say it is on the higher side. They could do wonders for the expensive "tag" reflected in most reviews by doing away with sides and offering meals with salads or vegetables in my opinion.
seafood done simple and fresh, done the way it should be, it was the best seafood we have had for a long time, backed up with great service, thanks for making NY eve a memorable night.
The food, service and settings were all superb and provided us with a wonderful dining experience
Dishes not served at the same time for four persons. A lot of closed mussels were served. Waited for order the drinks. Waited for meal about one hour. Although, taste was ok.
Very disappointing heard so much about this Restaurant, thought it would be a treat for my birthday. All I can say is way over priced, oysters 6 sooo small get better in Woolies today!$80 for the lobster which was way small, very little meat in it and the rest of the family had a $50 steak they said the steak was nice but you had to pay another $10 dollars to get some sort of vegetable, really come on Gambaros really! how much is a few steamed veges?Come home and put pizza in oven as we were still hungary!!
Service staff were lovely, but would not recommend to friends unless they took out a loan to pay for it! Certainly not worth $243 worth that’s for sure for three people!!
Disappointed that’s for sure!
Good service. Good ok. Presented very elegantly. Ambience good. It’s a pity you have to buy side dishes. Food expensive with side dishes.
Lovely venue with great eating options. Service was outstanding and the food was excellent. Noise levels were very loud so quiet conversation was not possible. Would go again because of the food and service but would ask for a quiet corner.
I was disappointed with the whole experience, we hadn't been there for a few years and on the last visit we had a great night but this time we found the it to be too noisy, and the food just wasn't as good, we also found the servings just a little small.
We plan to go back after Christmas sometime to see if it was a once off.
Best seafood meal my wife and I have ever eaten.Staff were very polite and efficient at service.
Fantastic night out thanks.👌
Seafood of magnificent quality cooked fairly simply because the seafood is so good that's all it needs.
After waiting a decent length of time, we had to ask for drinks. Food was delicious, but very small for the price (over $50 for 3 prawns).
We were participating in our first visit to Gambaro Seafood.booked for 1145 Lunch. Due to a leg problem, we were kindly advised by your Staff lady on the phone to take our Cab to the Basement and go up in the Lift. Good Advice. On entering the Bar we decided to have a Drink ; but no Staff appeared for almost 15 mins despite our calling and clapping.
On ordering our Meal-and we know and love Oysters - before ordering we asked where they were from. And the Male Waiter said South Pacific. On arrival we could see they were fromCoffin Bay. To get confirmation we asked him again where from and he looked at a piece of Paper and said South Australia.
We at last had an Agreement - of sorts ! He got sick of us and handed our job to a very smart, knowledgeable and helpful young Vietnamese Waiteress.
Apart from the two items above all - all very good.
The food was average, service non existent, lighting was terrible, noisy to the point we could not hear others at the table. Disappointing and over priced.
Excellent place to have have a friend family or work dinner great service and the food best ever
We had a wonderful lunch. The seafood was super fresh and well presented. The beverages complimented the food. We will definitely be back.
food was expensive and no much on plate
we order seafood for 2
it was $149
but really was seafood for one
Over-priced average food. Seafood platter for 2 at $145 was a rip-off, cooked mixed seafood dish was fish&chip shop quality, baked whole snapper was great. Place feels dated and running on its old reputation.
We found every dish from entre to dessert to be delicious. The moreton bay bugs were the best we have tasted. The service was also wonderful and we would definitely recommend Gambaros Seafood Restaurant for special occasions.
Another great Gambaros experience made special excellent advice suggestions and wine matching to accompany the freshest produce we have enjoyed for a long time. Special thanks to your great Maître D
Great fresh seafood, wonderful wine list, and just the right service, and attention.
Great tasting fresh seafood. Our wine selection on the drinks menu was by the glass and bit of a shock with the bill when brought by the bottle.
Really enjoyable lunch date with hubby. Food was delicious & wine was on point. Hit the spot. Thank You for a special very rare time that we get to have a lovely lunch with amazing food.
Service was excellent. Our waitress made the evening. Friendly and professional.
Food and service for outstanding but felt that if spending $235 on l enter, 2 mains and 1 dessert plus 5 drinks it would have been better value.
Too much salmon in the linguini
Food was great but didn't feel like it fit the $145 price tag. We had the seafood platter for two which was very nice, however, I don't think its very good value for money. It was all fresh seafood arranged on a plate with nothing else done to it. The only thing which had any flavour to it was the very small bowl of octopus which was served cold and and I wasn't a fan of the marinade they put on it. It was all quite nice but we could of quite easily gone to the fish market and produced the same thing for a lot cheaper. I'm happy to pay good money for good food but we left feeling ripped off.
Thanks to James for your service. Had a great evening. Good food and service.
Amazing seafood, great service, really good wine list
Fantastic dining experience with exceptionally good tasting food. Wait staff were polite, engaging although not overbearing.
A quality iconic venue with great food . The table service complemented the quality ambience. My interstate guests were impressed with all facets of the restraint
Overall a beautiful establishment, service was on point and the food was fresh and delicious.
Awesome restaurant. Food was amazing but the staff were exceptional, they really made our night, thanks Jess.
We had our one year anniversary there as that's where we had our first date this will be a yearly thing for my partner and l. Is a special place for the both of us as this is where it all began. The food and wine is sensational as well as the service. Well done.
We approached the seafood restaurant early, being the first time.
We were welcomed by a wonderful female staff member/manger?
The Cappuccino's she made where outstanding and we felt very comfortable.
The order was met to perfection. Our experience was amazing, by the food and the attention this female staff member gave us, top credit to her. Thanks so much. We will have to visit again soon to know the name of your precious female staff member on that morning 6.30am, 4th Oct 2018. But we also don't forget your Chef on that day. No broken eggs. Thanks
Amazing food, great service by James and his team. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town
Food was good however over priced, wine list is poor.
At the end of the day I believe their are better options for seafood in Brisbane.
Initially unsure what to order as all menu items sounded great. Decided on the Seafood Platter to share. Very fresh king prawns, sand crab, plump creamy Pacific oysters, clams, chopped salmon pieces and chopped marinated octopus pieces to put on top of thin crackers. A bit disappointed as no fruit though as would have been the perfect compliment to a cold platter. At $145 for 2, more could have been added to make it more satisfying. Prior to ordering we asked our waitress if it would be filling enough. We were assured it would but not so. When you consider the comparison of $70 per person for a full buffet on the Gold Coast the difference is very noticeable.
Even so, we enjoyed our meal and the service from our wait staff was impeccable.
Food, ambience and service are excellent. I have become a regular and find this standard is consistent.
