The restaurant was far too noisy .....hosting Christmas parties. It's an expensive restaurant, oysters $6 each or $72 dozen, but it felt like we were in a noisy cafeteria with zero atmosphere.
Thank you for dining at Gambaro and leaving your review. It greatly disappoints us that you were not satisfied with your dining experience. Please be assured we take this matter very seriously, and have passed your comments and feedback on to our restaurant manager and Head Chef to investigate and review. Please send us your contact details, as we'd love to know what we can do to improve. Sincerely, Gambaro
The seafood platter was absolutely great. The waitresses were kind and helpful. So far, the best seafood restaurant we found in Brisbane.
We made a reservation for a quiet table which we had dined at some time ago. Despite being against the general seating plans for the night Gambaro's provided the table to us. It was quiet and intimate and as usual the food and service was great!
Thank you Gambaro's.
Very busy, so it was noisy, but the staff were very attentive and the food superb. Will be back.
All staff were absolutely amazing and professional. It was a little busier the night I was there, because there were a few Christmas parties. But couldn’t tell service wise because we received our food and drinks super quick! Can’t wait to go back again, best seafood I’ve ever had!
Absolutely love Gambaro's Seafood Restaurant, we consider this our go to restaurant for their outstanding selection of seafood and service. We have been going there for 20 years and will continue going there. Best Seafood Restaurant in Brisbane.
Great service and food.
We had a seafood platter that was very fresh :)
I will definitely visit there again.
Great night, lovely oysters, and Moreton bay bugs.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming
Sensational venue, sensational food and sensational service! A true Brisbane institution.
Highly recommend * (Five-stars)
Wish I could remember the ladies name who served us all night. She definitely made the night and experience one we will always remember. Definitely put Gambaros on your bucket list.
Disappointed in the service wait staff bordering on rude quite disappointed
Was great as normal. Little expensive for the platter for 2. Food was great as was the staff and the ambiance is awesome
Have been to Gambaros many times, the food and service are always great.
The only thing that bettered the food quality, was the service, exceptional
Wine was way over priced. Entree was dry and tasteless. Side of ICE-BERG, PICKLED GREEN CHILLI, WHITE ANCHOVIES was just about the lettuce. Did not taste any chilli or anchovy. Very diappointing meal. Fish size was small and also dry.
I think the sea food was great but I think the price was a little high. service was good and the price of drinks was ok. need to book because of being so very busy. They have a good selection of wines etc.
I had previously dined at Gambaro many years ago prior to the refurbishment. My wife has always wanted to try Gambaro so I took her for her birthday dinner last Thursday. We were not disappointed, the food, ambiance and service was fantastic and we had a great night. I highly recommend Gambaro to friends, family and anyone who wants to experience fine dining. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Went with high expectations of eating some fresh well cooked seafood . The 4 of us were all disappointed. Our fish was overcooked the octopus was like leather . Service was great and quick . Very let down .
It was my mother’s 86th birthday lunch. On arrival my mum was wished a happy birthday which was a pleasant surprise. We had a nice table with plenty of natural light from the front. We started with some fresh prawns which were juicy and flavoursome. We all had the grilled snapper and the food was outstanding. We had a great relaxing lunch with the restaurant management and staff ensuring it was a memorable occasion for Mum. Thanks Gambaro
I'm writing this for my husband as he took me to Gambaro for my 65th birthday. I wouldn't have chosen the restaurant as I wanted to dine at a seafood place with a view of the river. However, as I like my seafood, especially my oysters unadorned, I chose the restaurant for its menu. The menu did not disappoint.
The decor - well its a restaurant with thankfully floor coverings etc to keep noise at a minimum.
Good staff - an overall good, birthday experience.
Outstanding. Each of our meals were Absolutely incredible!
We were there for a birthday dinner. There was four of us, and we ordered two seafood platters. They were outstanding right down to the salmon sashimi salad on the top. No need for entrees, there was so much food we couldn’t finish it as it was. Excellent wine list, impeccable service. You can understand why this restaurant has lasted the distance. We would go back for sure next time we visit Brisbane.
The seafood was fantastic as well as the sides to compliment each dish. The quality of seafood was great, but the quantity for price was a bit disappointing. You pay for the ambiance and service.
Food is grossly over-priced. My $56.00 plate of BBQ mixed seafood comprised:
ONE very very small bit of fish
ONE very small bit of calamari
My son had a nice piece of salmon but for $45.00 I could have bought 4 fillets from Woolworths.
Cost of whole meal I could have bought enough fresh seafood for 10 people.
I though this place was meant to be a seafood restaurant, I must say this restaurant has seriously fallen behind in quality of food and offering. I started off with some Oysters Kilpatrick, they were pretty much cold when I got them and had no sauce (basically just some bacon on top and little to no heating), suffice to say no worth getting them for the $30. For the main I ordered the Red Emperor for $42 and got what appeared to be a fish fillet from coles frozen food section. It was crumbed in basic packet breadcrumbs (not fresh in house made ones like you would expect in a 5 star restaurant, an really it should have been grilled), was a tiny portion (would of said under 100 grams) and came with 1/10th of a leaf of purple cabbage and some tartare sauce (sauce clearly a commercial buy-in). This should have been a nice bit of grilled fish at around a 300 gram serving with a nice butter and some greens to go with it. This $42 meal on its own would not fill a small child let alone provide enough food for an adult for a main meal. Unfortunately desert was not better, the cake I have was clearly a few days old and had that stale taste and texture to it. I was there to take my parents out for a nice dinner for Father’s day and their birthdays as they are generally in the middle of Australia, suffice to say it was a real big let down considering the $320 cost. Won’t be going back and certainly won’t be recommending them to anyone, should of gone to Jellyfish or the Port Office instead.
Good food the waiter brought out the wrong meal that would be the only issue i had grrat night great place.
Lovely dinner we will be back! The staff were Friendly & polite. The food was fresh and flavorful.
Food is good, service was deplorable
Had to wait excessive amounts of time for initial service, drinks and to settle the bill
The decor could have been from any pub anywhere , basic tables pretty average and underwhelming really. Service was great , food was excellent which is really the reason you go. Some things were a bit pricey.
We had a wonderful lunch, made more memorable by the extensive wine selection and the freshest of seafood.
Simply an awesome experience. Everything about this restaurant is 5 stars, the service, the quality food, the ambiance, everything. Without doubt my favorite restaurant in Brisbane.
Gambaro’s is an elegant corporate venue with quick service and fresh seafood.
Service was average, food generous but not spectacular. For example, we felt the Moreton Bay Bugs didn't need a chili sauce--they're a stand-alone dish that needs little empelishment. Loved the fennel mash with it, tho. The ambiance in the restaurant is too formal for our taste. I'm sure it suits many diners, but not us.
The food was lovely
The Scollops were spectacular ..................
Communication between waiting staff was confused, several drinks were ordered and not delivered, and who ordered what meal was confused.
We had booked the set menu for the Wallabies match. At $175 pp including wine we enjoyed the excellent fresh seafood , however were disappointed in the very restricted house wine selection and the efficient but toooooo quick service of the food . We arrived at 4.30pm and the food had been served within the hour.
We would recommend the restaurant but not the set menu ( not good value)
Great seafood , the absolute most fresh, well presented seafood we have experienced, wonderful service and a great atmosphere ..would highly recommend to everyone thank you Gambaros seafood :)
From the service to the food, Gambaro's delivered on all of it! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and have decided that Gambaro's will be our choice for many more celebrations. <3
Dear ShanNAd4lyf, Thank you for dining with us and thank you for taking the time to give us such a kind review. We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Gambaro.
Oysters were lovely, wine wasn't cold enough, Salmon order (was advised would be medium to rare) arrived overcooked, Linguini Marinara was mainly fish pieces. There was half of one very large prawn on top, with a very small 10cent size piece of bug (perhaps not sure) but the rest was fish pieces and it tasted a bit fishy. I don't like fishy tastes. We would have had another glass of wine but that wasn't cold enough the first time. The dessert was nice but needed more nuts as we couldn't have a part of it being GF and DF converted. Didn't think it was worth the cost. Glad we had an entertainment book voucher.
