Really creative bent on fabulous Japanese food. Avocado tofu with tuna a must, as is the Wagyu tartare and Agadeshi pumpkin tofu. Great beverages too
Food was delicious and well priced. Service was fantastic.
This was a nice little restaurant, it was a little too dim to see properly so it could have done with a little brighter lighting. The atmosphere was nice, and some of the dishes very delicious. Our waiter could have explained more thoroughly how one should order, how many entres would be appropriate for two etc but after a few extra questions this information was obtained. The waitstaff could have been more attentive, as in an up-market restaurant like this with up-market prices I would appreciate a little more up-market service but the waiters were friendly and helpful none the less. The standout dish was the Raw Tuna with Avocado Tofu and Wasabi which was by far my favourite dish at the table. It was beautifully crafted, I could have just eaten 4 bowls of that for dinner.
Future Future has become my new favourite restaurant! I’ve been there 5 times in a few months already, taking multiple friends and for business dinners. Everything I have ordered is absolutely perfect. And being a Japanese fusion person myself (!) I appreciate the the mix of modern and traditional. Highly recommend this place!
Really enjoyed a meal here. Great quality ingredients an authentic taste of Japan. Service was just right loved the ambiance and we’re looking forward to returning.
Dinner with friends, good food good service
Great casual dining - excellent food and service - friendly and knowledgeable staff
A funky superb modern Japanese find. - the chef's menu - outstanding - caters for vegetarians and other dietary requirements - highly recommend.
Had a brilliant time at Future future, will certainly be bring my friends here for birthdays
We had the omakase package which was very good value. It was $59 per person and all of us were rolling out the door when we finished. The matcha tiramisu was amazing and the best dessert I've had in a long time as its not too sweet.
The service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the decor was lovely. Great spot for a date.
Best Yakitory in Melbourne - wine list is small but precise, Gruner Veltliner with Tuna & tofu is a no brainer! Also had the Patrick Sullivan Cider with jap fried chicken, life changing. It’s clear that the chef’s have spent careful thought with the balance of each dish. Every detail from the design, fittings, seating spacing allows for great atmosphere but still intimate dining. Unfortunately can’t fault anything, let’s hope this standard continues into the deep future. Will be going back sooner rather than later.
Amazing food and service to match, totally exceeded expectations and just the right amount of food for a chef's menu. Thank you for making our date night so special
Great menu and Fantastic food. Great waiters.
Great food! We keep returning, and recommending. Just a note on the salmon bowl. I get it a lot. This time just a little on the cooler side, but all-in-all wonderful!
Food was nice without being amazing. Nothing really authentic Japanese about the place at all. Service was underwhelming. I expected more
Absolutely loved the creative food and relaxed atmosphere of Future Future, I'll be back for sure!
Service was very poor and the food was only ordinary.
Whilst I still crave the purity of single dish restaurants that define Japan, Future Future provides a wonderful sampling that steers past sashimi and sushi with agedashi tofu, yakatori skewers and okonomiyaki. The food and drinks menu are both well curated, just about the right amount of choice with portions generous. Will be back.
We went for a friends Birthday and as usual everything was perfect !
We opted for the degustation and all the dishes were delicious and the service spot on .
Even though we had many courses we were not feeling full at the end .
We just wish there was a sitting around 7 pm as 5:45 is too early and 8:30 too late for us
Food was great, staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Very vibrant and enjoyable
My favourite restaurant in Melbourne. I think the raw wagyu or the barramundi skewers were the highlight.
Absolutely delicious. Would recommend to all. Really tasty menu and it’s not your typical Japanese restaurant.
We booked the private Excellent, will be back many times.
Future Future was absolutely fantastic! From the intro complimentary cup of tea, to the Boss Coffee tasting cocktail, to everything on the food menu (yes, actually, do yourself a favour and order everything) and the ice cream in mochi and the matcha tiramasu. I can't wait to go back again and again!
Great professional and friendly service! Food delicious!
Staff & food can only be described in one word - AMAZING!!
Fantastic dinner to celebrate my birthday, would highly recommend to others
Absolutely delicious food but we all left hungry. Portions are flavour packed but delicate so just a mouthful each really. Will definitely go back but will need to be prepared to spend more money and buy more dishes.
Great lunch for six over 70s (am I really saying that?) love good food, especially Japanese, healthy, innovative: have eaten extensively across Melbourne and elsewhere over the years. Food and ambience a real delight here along with thoughtful service: we'll be back!
It was as good central place for us. Food a sort of modern Japanese theme with plates to share. Service was excellent, music was a little loud making conversation a bit difficult.
First visit to Future Future and as a group of 5, we enjoyed ourselves. Love the open kitchen. Highlights include the skewers, the karaage chicken and the mochi. We had an early booking but by 7ish, when the restaurant was full, it did get a litttle loud. Would definitely come back.
Went in there after hearing so many good reviews about the place and tried the Chef’s Menu. All the small dishes at the start were great and would come back for these (tuna and avocado mousse and sweet potato tofu were a must), however the 2 mains and dessert were wrong:
Pork Belly dish was not caramelized, more like chewy boiled pork, with a sloppy egg undercooked egg and plain rice. Lacked taste and excitement that you expect from a caramelized pork belly dish.
The fish dish with beans was a bit better but not really exciting, fish had no taste and the skin wasn’t crispy - the broth was nice and subtle but wasn’t enough to lift the blendness of the fish. The beans were too overly coated in the miso paste, beans chopped short makes it look like they’ve come out of a can.
The matcha tiramisu was wrong - no one likes matcha, don’t ruin an italian dessert by substituting the coffee for Matcha, as it tastes like eating sponge, cream and grass. revisit this one with a traditional japanese dessert.
Would come back to try other dishes we didn’t get (okonomiyaki looked great but unfortunatey did not get it, other buns type dishes looked very exciting), but the 3 mentioned above need to be worked on by the chef or removed from the menu.
Great service and the food was delicious! Highly recommend!
Great space staff chefs wine list- keep it up - 👍🏿
Great food, great decor .. good value. Look forward to balcony drinks come summer.
Future future had nice feel and the drinks were good- The kitchen was understaffed food was forgotten and took over 2 hours to come out some of it. Pretty standard food- The wait staff poured me the wrong bottle of white wine was meant to be by the bottle only so she said she did me a favour by only charging me 18 dollars for the glass when the bill came at the end
Truly fabulous and innovative Japanese food. Beautifully crafted and executed. Chefs menu wide ranging and delicious
The food was absolutely amazing! Really tasty!! We sat at the bar at the kitchen. The staff were really friendly and talented! We had a a great night. Definitely be back soon
Absolutely loved it. Great, attentive staff and the food was delicious.
We will be back again!!!
