Food is divine, drinks menu fab, and the staff are so lovely. Top of list for me. Would highly recommend without a doubt.
Food was fabulous. Well balanced. We did chef's menu and really enjoyed it. Definitely going back!
Food was great with very nice wines & cocktails. Lots of different seating options including rear courtyard & rooftop. Service was a little sporadic. But overalll very nice place
I have been here several times but the first for the chef's menu. All of it was great but we ran out of time to try dessert as we were off to the footy. The food was delicious and the wines excellent and well priced. The service was friendly and not over the top.
I will be back again.
The food was unlike anything I had eaten before, using interesting and authentic ingredients. Their signature iced tea was truly exceptional! Furthermore, the service was great, everyone was very friendly and accommodating, explaining how the menu worked as we hadn't been there before. Overall a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be back.
Great food, will keep returning but only for lunch. Way too noisy for dinner, tables very close together...very uncomfortable dining when people are so close and talking at the top of their voices. Staff could be more attentive. Overall a great addition to the area.
This is a great venue for a casual night out with friends. The menu is fun and reasonably priced.
Would have loved a table in the front room as it appears more atmospheric and cosy but was a last minute booking so totally understandable.
The stand out was the great service. Lovely staff and eager to please without being too over the top. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.
I had wanted to dine at Future Future since it first opened, finally got around to it and really did enjoy.
I had read a review on Trip Advisor I think that quoted something along the lines of it was more of a place to be than go there for the food, but I was very very happy with the dishes.
Every single dish deliverd some amazing flavours and any of the house made sauces were very very tasty.
You could comfortably speak to friends at the table without background noise interfering.
Will be back again soon.
The food was outstanding. We were all so impressed. And I absolutely LOVE the fit out (including all of the finer details: the crockery, the upstairs bar/outdoor area, the lighting fixtures in the stairwell). The noise levels were moderate but we were there on a quiet-ish night so not sure how loud it would be if it were busy.
Overall I would *highly* recommend. Will definitely be back.
Amazing food in a super cute fitout with a fabulous team looking after us
Amazing food. Great service, a really nice evening.
Unfortunately we were given a table with stools instead of chairs to sit on which was most uncomfortable for anyone with a little bit of age or a back issue! Otherwise great!
Food was phenomenal. Could not fault a single dish. Great night out
The set menu was outstanding and a generous amount of food given.
Everyone was extremely happy....
This was our first visit so we chose to do the Chef’s Menu to get an overall experience. We were not disappointed! The food was fresh, interesting and most importantly delicious. I am still thinking about the tuna sashimi with avocado and the prawn rolls!
The service was also excellent and all the staff who looked after us were friendly and appropriately attentive.
We intend to go again soon.
it’s becoming quite hard to find food which is truly different and surprising and Future Future certainly has it. The Japanese inspired dishes were delicious and new. The staff were most helpful and made us feel very comfortable. The beverage list is not huge but well matched and good quality. The outing was my birthday treat and it was very enjoyable.
Food & service was great. Had seats in front of the kitchen, didn't like it to start with but being only 2 it was great to watch the food being prepared & what was on offer we have booked to go back & requested same seating.
Very tasty modern Japanese food. Menu designed to share and they were able to increase portion sizes to suit the size of your group. Most dishes were easy to share except perhaps the Donburi rice dishes. Service was good and wine list matches the food well.
I was very excited to dine here after having it recommended to me by multiple people.
Dining there last week was a mixed experience however as the food was amazing, but unfortunately the service was not.
Upon arriving at Future Future the front of house staff did not greet us, she continued her conversation with her friends until she finished her story. We were then seated at a table directly under an air conditioning unit which left us sitting at dinner wearing our jackets and freezing cold. Fortunately when we asked staff about it they turned it off.
We were given drinks menus but no water, and had to wait 15 minutes before someone came and took our drinks order. We were then given food menus and opted for the chef's menu - generally our choice when dining out to experience a few new things!
We had to ask again to get some water for the table. The service during the meal was fine, with each dish explained to us as it arrived at the table. However, we did then have to ask for serviettes which also weren't given to us.
As we reached the end of our dining, we were asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu which we said no to. It wasn't until I was discussing with some colleagues the next day that I remembered the waitress saying when we ordered, that the chef's menu included a dessert. No mention of this was made at the end of our mains, so we were essentially charged for a course we didn't receive!
When we received the bill, we asked if we could pay with AMEX, the waitress informed us that we could, but it would incur a surcharge. What she didn't say, is that all credit cards incur a surcharge. This left a really bitter taste at the end of the meal, when spending nearly $200 on a dinner for two people, surely the cost of the credit card can be absorbed into the menu pricing, it seems ridiculous to pass this charge onto the customers.
I enjoyed the food here, the flavours and dishes are very true to Japanese cuisine & were delicious. The service was just bad.
Really creative bent on fabulous Japanese food. Avocado tofu with tuna a must, as is the Wagyu tartare and Agadeshi pumpkin tofu. Great beverages too
Food was delicious and well priced. Service was fantastic.
This was a nice little restaurant, it was a little too dim to see properly so it could have done with a little brighter lighting. The atmosphere was nice, and some of the dishes very delicious. Our waiter could have explained more thoroughly how one should order, how many entres would be appropriate for two etc but after a few extra questions this information was obtained. The waitstaff could have been more attentive, as in an up-market restaurant like this with up-market prices I would appreciate a little more up-market service but the waiters were friendly and helpful none the less. The standout dish was the Raw Tuna with Avocado Tofu and Wasabi which was by far my favourite dish at the table. It was beautifully crafted, I could have just eaten 4 bowls of that for dinner.
Future Future has become my new favourite restaurant! I’ve been there 5 times in a few months already, taking multiple friends and for business dinners. Everything I have ordered is absolutely perfect. And being a Japanese fusion person myself (!) I appreciate the the mix of modern and traditional. Highly recommend this place!
Really enjoyed a meal here. Great quality ingredients an authentic taste of Japan. Service was just right loved the ambiance and we’re looking forward to returning.
It’s great . Just what Melbourne needs
Dinner with friends, good food good service
Great casual dining - excellent food and service - friendly and knowledgeable staff
A funky superb modern Japanese find. - the chef's menu - outstanding - caters for vegetarians and other dietary requirements - highly recommend.
Had a brilliant time at Future future, will certainly be bring my friends here for birthdays
We had the omakase package which was very good value. It was $59 per person and all of us were rolling out the door when we finished. The matcha tiramisu was amazing and the best dessert I've had in a long time as its not too sweet.
The service was fantastic, the food was delicious and the decor was lovely. Great spot for a date.
Best Yakitory in Melbourne - wine list is small but precise, Gruner Veltliner with Tuna & tofu is a no brainer! Also had the Patrick Sullivan Cider with jap fried chicken, life changing. It’s clear that the chef’s have spent careful thought with the balance of each dish. Every detail from the design, fittings, seating spacing allows for great atmosphere but still intimate dining. Unfortunately can’t fault anything, let’s hope this standard continues into the deep future. Will be going back sooner rather than later.
Amazing food and service to match, totally exceeded expectations and just the right amount of food for a chef's menu. Thank you for making our date night so special
Great menu and Fantastic food. Great waiters.
Great food! We keep returning, and recommending. Just a note on the salmon bowl. I get it a lot. This time just a little on the cooler side, but all-in-all wonderful!
Food was nice without being amazing. Nothing really authentic Japanese about the place at all. Service was underwhelming. I expected more
Absolutely loved the creative food and relaxed atmosphere of Future Future, I'll be back for sure!
Service was very poor and the food was only ordinary.
Whilst I still crave the purity of single dish restaurants that define Japan, Future Future provides a wonderful sampling that steers past sashimi and sushi with agedashi tofu, yakatori skewers and okonomiyaki. The food and drinks menu are both well curated, just about the right amount of choice with portions generous. Will be back.
We went for a friends Birthday and as usual everything was perfect !
We opted for the degustation and all the dishes were delicious and the service spot on .
Even though we had many courses we were not feeling full at the end .
We just wish there was a sitting around 7 pm as 5:45 is too early and 8:30 too late for us
