It was my first time at Future Future and would 10/10 recommend to anyone! the food was just beautiful and flavours incredible.
Amazing as always. Great service and a fresh take on Japanese classic flavours. See you in the future, future!
Celebrated a friend's birthday. We had one of the set menus. It was delicious, service was great.
We had the set menu which was superb. Service was excellent and the COVID precautions were thorough without being intrusive.
Excellent experience, the service was quick but not rushed and the staff were all lovely. The food was incredible and I will definitely be recommending to my friends and family.
Loved it. Authentic modern Japanese cuisine. Would come back.
Food is amazing. Pity because the service was cold, standoffish and unhelpful.
All new staff since lockdown and had to chose from 2 set menus, no a la carte menu which we were a bit disappointed with. However couldn’t complain about quality of food.
Pretty overpriced for the quality of food. Only a set menu option. Some dishes cold!
Serving staff were rude. Set menu had too many courses for the allotted time. We were rushed into eating out food. Serving staff also rude when a friend was 3 minutes late. Would not go back here.
We really enjoyed the set menu, delicious drinks and fabulous service:)
Beautiful meal and felt very safe under the circumstances.
This was among the worst restaurant experiences I had in a long time (considering the price category). First, we were allocated a limited seating time of 1.45h (compliant with social distancing). We were not served for 25 min before the server told us to open the menu through a QR code. The area we were seated in was extremely cold. My biggest complain is related to the quality of the food though. We could choose between a basic menu (7 courses) for $60 pp and extended one (9 courses) for $74 pp. We had the smaller one. The type of dishes as well as their execution was extremely disappointing. The first course was a cucumber salad with a simple dressing. The second course was a kingfish sashimi which was really nice. It was the best dish of the menu. After this, everything was mostly fried protein. There were simple fried chicken wings (they are better executed at KFC), fried Tonkatsu tofu (one of the worst I had) and a fried pork meatball between plain toast. There was also a semi-fresh leaf salad with a bit of wasabi dressing. The dessert was not as stated in the menu cheesecake but macha tiramisu. It was a very small piece to share between 2 people. It mostly tasted like cream and was quite lush. When I asked why it was not the cheesecake, the server said that it would just be a sample menu and it would be up to the chef what is served. We also had some sparkling wine and white wine. The latter had room temperature. We came out with a bill if roughly $180 for 2 people. This is highly overpriced. For this amount you can have a really nice higher end dinner in Melbourne. We left rather shocked and disappointment. I don't this place has a chance if it continues on this path.
We had a thoughtful and balanced fixed menu, which was lovely. We’d given the restaurant notice of dietary needs and they accommodated them all with some lovely dishes.
Fresh, light and imaginative. Give them a go!!
The food was very disappointing. It lacked the flavour and complexity you would expect with Japanese food. The waitress was unable to tell us what dishes were in the set menu and there was no menu available to look at.
Great food and great service. The upstairs area has a great vibe.
Loved it and will be back. Fantastic food and great service.
Food was delicious. Outstanding service. Easy to to chat.
Beautifully prepared food in stylish surroundings and they did a fantastic job with keeping things safe for diners. We had a lunch set, which was amazing value.
I love this place.
The food is excellent, the service is great. This is probably my favourite Japanese restaurant at the moment.
We really enjoyed Future Future for a special family occasion. Lots of great choices that were good for the spectrum of tastes in the group.
I absolutely love it here! Staff were so accommodating even with the recent virus scare. Support restaurants now more than ever!!
Excellent food. Service good. Restaurant too loud.
We took the chefs menu and got disappointed as it started with cucumber and finished with omelet filled with cabbage and a lot of mayonaise and sauce. Sorry but the food was not great!
I thought the menu was a bit limited for Japanese, but of very high quality.
Service was excellent.
Yes, love this place. I think the cost is reasonable for a venue like this. The food is unique and not something you could get from your standard Japanese restaurant. My only comment would be the cocktails we got were a spritz, which personally we didn't consider a cocktail. Not that they weren't nice, just not what was expected! Other than that, can't really fault, worth visiting :) Staff are super nice also! I went previously and I didn't particularly find the service great and we were a large group (but they could have been having a bad day - we've all been there).
Second time here, and I found the food service to be particularly slow in between courses (15-20mins). The food overall was still consistent and the service staff were attentive.
Food terrific.Service erratic.
Perhaps 8.15 is a little late to book
This is a vibrant and elegant venue with delicious food. A city aura in lil ol Swan St ! Long overdue and most welcome judging by the crowd on a Tuesday night. Due to the demand staff do try and move you through pretty quick so don’t expect to linger. We will definitely return.
The food was great. We had a few issues with lighting - it kept dimming in the front room. We were also sitting near the front and had a really bright light shining in our eyes from the waitress front table.
Loved the food and atmosphere, but the music was just way too loud!
It was a great vibe but couldn't hear people I was dining with. Just a touch down on the music would be preferable, otherwise a great night out and outstanding food.
I've been to Future Future 6 or 7 times now and everyone always enjoys the food.
The waiters are helpful without being too pushy.
Would definitely recommend.
Casual dinner with friends. Sat on the high table in the back room. Delicious as always. The raw tuna and and the Swordfish skewers were our highlight.
Food quality is always excellent. Main chef is always there.
They have improved seating also
Great, looking forward to next dinner
The food was good but the service was poor with noth our food and drink orders wrong. Not really acceptable for a fairly expensive restaurant
The best Japanese food in Melbourne! Amazing space, awesome ambience and a super unique, memorable experience every time. The sando's are the best!
Business related lunch for three. Ordered a la carte. Everything was delicious. Chicken Karage and raw tuna my favourite.
food is very consistent and excellent especially fish dishes. Chief chef seems to always there which is an excellent sign. Staff are attentive generally . Pinot noir is good value and matches food well.
Lunch in the courtyard on a sunny Friday was perfect. Spritzs and Karage chicken was my highlight.
