Service was great and good was too however being out of several of the key side items left is with fewer options. Also only had two cooks going in the kitchen so the 2.5 hour meal time was longer than we had anticipated
My wife and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary by having dinner at Frankie Rowland’s. Our previous experience was fantastic even during a busy weekend evening. Last night was not the same case. Despite there being only 4 tables, it took almost an hour and a half to complete the meal. They were out of both of the appetizers we tried to order; very frustrating. Drink orders were phenomenal as were our entrees, disappointed in the wait time and lack of popular items.
The steak was over cooked, and the house wine was overpriced. We loved the salad and the sides. The new site was beautiful but we were one of four couples. It felt cavernous and empty.
The food was very good, but our waitress tried to rush us too much. Also removing plates from the table before everyone finished is not appropriate for a high-end restaurant. We look forward to returning.
Excellent food and service!
The food, drinks and service were excellent. Expect to pay a high price for the quality.
Great place. Took my wife for our anniversary dinner. We’ll be back
We are visiting this area for a wedding weekend and found this restaurant on trip advisor. We had no expectations, but wow! The food was delicious and my steak was probably the best I’ve ever had. The martinis were also a hit and again, probably the best espresso martini I’ve had. I highly recommend this restaurant if your ever in Salem!
Great dinner. And service was great. Just what Salem needs
We'd been to the downtown Roanoke location before (once) and thought we'd give this new Salem location a try for our friend's birthday.
The space is nice enough, with good lighting and several booths. We'd requested a booth, but ended up at a table in the middle of the room. I felt kind of in the way when the servers were walking by if my chair was out too far.
This is the type of place where the items are all a la carte. We each ordered our dish and split a couple sides for the table.
Our friend's steak came back overcooked, so they promptly started a new one. It came out about 10 mins later cooked correctly. I'd asked for a different sauce on my fish than the cheese cream sauce it came with. I should have done what my husband did and ordered it on the side as it was just swimming in it. Kind of killed the complexity of the fish flavor.
All in all nothing was spectacular, especially when you factor in the price. I would love to think that at those prices the beef would be grass fed locally sourced and the fish wild caught, but that isn't the case.
Just an old school steakhouse that for me wasn't a great dining experience.
Great way to spend a birthday with new friends! Great food, drinks and service!
The service and food at Frankie Rowland’s is excellent. We love having them in Salem!
Outstanding value and exquisite service. Comfortable seating and beautiful ambiance.
It was a wonderful first time experience for my wife and I. It was our 25th Anniversary and the staff was so very kind. It meant a great deal. The food was wonderful and prepared perfectly. Our cocktails were delicious! The manager came by and we had a nice chat about the music. Spot on!
We completely disliked the atmosphere
Overpriced - we both felt it was trying to be a higher priced restaurant and did not achieve the status, food or atmosphere.
The food was overpriced , chicken too thick and no taste.
The risotto was mush
The menu caught us unaware as the porterhouse ordered turned out to be pork on the menu . What we ordered by mistake was a pricey $69 porterhouse.
The service was pleasant and on point.
Really enjoyed the ambiance @ the Salem Frankie Rowland’s- so much more intimate than the downtown Roanoke location- the only thing different I would have liked is that since it was just my husband & I would have been to have a small booth around the edge of the room rather than a large round table in the middle of the room
This was our first time dining at Frankie's in Salem. We have been to the Roanoke location multiple times. We were very impressed with the whole experience. The facility is excellent, the service was great and naturally our steaks were fantastic.
Atmosphere and seating was not up to the expectation and pricing. Tables out in the open with everyone else made it very noisy. Not really any privacy. Nothing special as far as ambience. Food was fair, not exceptional to match the price. Best thing was the Shrimp Cocktail, huge shrimp, and the Pineapple Martini was really good. I would go back for just that. Service was exceptional. Many people serving in various capacities. Did not lack for anything. But, expected more to match the high price.
The food and staff are excellent making for a great experience.
Friendly and very personable staff and management.
Restaurant features high-end steaks with a la carte side dishes (which are large enough to share). Menu also offers seafood and chicken. We had the filet mignon and sea bass which were both excellent. The crab-stuffed mushrooms were also excellent. We each had salads (half portions). We each ordered a side dish. We didn't try the desserts because we were stuffed! We have enough leftovers to have another dinner.
Servers are very attentive. The food is delicious as well as their specialty drinks. We always leave very satisfied and VERY FULL!
Great service and excellent food!
Wow, this place is a gem in Salem. The steaks, sides, martinis, and the service were all exemplary.
Great food, drinks and service. Food was pricey but that was expected for a high end steak house.
The entree was perfect, however the side dishes were disappointing based on reputation and experiences elsewhere including my own kitchen. That said, opinions vary and Frankies is known for their steak and pineapple martinis which I would certainly repeat for.
My wife and I celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at Frankie Rowlands in Salem and it could not have gone better. Everything, including the food, service, and atmosphere were outstanding!!
The service was wonderful. The servers were knowledgeable and professional while also being down to earth. The food was prepared exactly as we requested and was excellent. Only suggestion is to have more options on the size of meat portions. Would have given a 5 star rating if it weren’t for a large and very noisy party the arrived part way through our meal. Wait staff were very understanding and quickly offered to comp our drinks. Despite the noise will definitely go back.
Our steaks were over cooked. Medium was cooked well done. Filet was burnt on one side and my wife had to trim the side off.
Excellent service. Steaks that rival any restaurant in the country. Pricey, but excellent in every other way.
Very wonderful evening for food, service and environment! Cant wait to go back.
An elegant and special restaurant all around.
Food, service and atmosphere were excellent! The Salem location is perfect! Definitely will be coming back!
It was our anniversary and we tried the new Frankie Rowland’s in Salem. The atmosphere is wonderful making for a very special evening. The cocktails were delightful, the crab stuffed mushrooms and shrimp cocktail appetizers and the tomato, fresh mozzarella salad were very good. We each had a Filet which were cooked to perfection. We ordered their signature AuGratin potatoes which fell a little under their usual perfection. All in all we had a wonderful experience and recommend this new location.
My daughter’s 18th birthday celebration could not have been better. Remarkable service from Amy, Hope, Olivia and Ashlin. Truly grateful for this unforgettable celebration. Many thanks!!
Delicious food and wonderful service from Karolina!
Got a ribeye and it was the best steak I have had in a long time. Food was cooked to perfection. Brussel sprouts were delicious! Service is outstanding!!! Music and atmosphere just made you relax and smile! Overall a wonderful dining experience. Many gluten free options! Always said Salem needed a good steak restaurant.
I think this location is more laid back than the Roanoke place. It didn’t feel uptight’.
Super friendly staff!
Frankie Rowland’s in Salem is excellent. The service and food are the best.
Everyone was AMAZING!!! Food was beyond delicious. We will be back for sure!!
