The Grill at The Four has done away with the formality of the previous offering and replaced it with a heartier, more produce driven that is packed with flavour once cooked on the new grill.

Lovely historic pub in a quiet leafy corner of Paddington with a laidback vibe. Sunday roast was excellent as are the booths if you're fortunate enough to secure one. Let's hope this great pub remains open so that Paddo doesn't become yet another bland vanilla suburb.

We come back in this restaurant next time when we come to Sydney from Nouméa. The butler advise me to take a wine according with my tastes, the wine " Bête Noir" was fabulous ! Good meat , good wine,good evening !!
Service very professional. Food was good to very good, I had the barramundi which was moist and delicious, my wife had the rabbit ribbon pasta, which was tasty but a bit watery she found. Anyway, a real local gem, have been dining there for years and never disappointed.

Excellent dinner, quiet venue so we could talk, friendly staff and accommodating management.
An old favourite has changed hands. Still a great place, but I think the menu is now too short. If one doesn’t want steak, one will need to look elsewhere. Likewise, repeat visits will be infrequent because steak-or-steak.
Otherwise, same lovely venue, terrific service and a very pleasant experience.
Was a bit expensive for the quality of the food. Service was very pleasant though.
Better than usual pub. The suckling pig was excellent as were the crispy chats. Good services, friendly and efficient.

We had an excellent lunch at Four in Hand. If you are in or around Paddington, I highly recommend that you visit.
The food was straightforward and very tasty. The wine list had a good variety. The desserts were stand-outs. It was quiet at lunch, so conversation was not a problem - I expect it gets pretty lively in the evenings.
Make the trip down Elizabeth from Oxford St. You won’t be disappointed.
One of my regular haunts. The food is always well prepared, a bit too much mest on the menu, a good solid wine list.
No longer the "Four in Hand" bistro, but rather an overpriced and pretentious grill.
Whilst the old restaurant was one of my favourites, the new one i will not be going back to.
I wish i could have given a better star rating. I haven't been to this restaurant for quite a number of years and i think i liked the atmosphere prior to it being renovated.
I ordered the Kingfish entree as i have always loved this kind of dish, however the Kingfish was too thick and the flavours just didn't do it justice. It tasted like a home-made attempt might taste. The butter for the bread was tasteless.
However, overall, we had a lovely night and enjoyed ourselves and our waiter was great.
This is a grill now with fairly limited menu. It was noisy but you could at least hear. We had said on booking that was for a birthday but no record of it by staff. Overall, not bad but not wonderful.
Another super experience at the F I H. Squid .... perfection. Lamb.. a melting moment . Ambience ..blissful. Service matched the venue. The bar.... serene , then pumping. Lunch ended at 8.30pm. Don't you love those days! Rare as they've become.

Second time to Four In Hand. Enjoyable restaurant ambiance and the food was really delicious. The suckling pork for two was a very generous serve, larger than we have encountered in other restaurants. The service was not as good as on the first occasion with confusion over orders by waiters in training. Apart from some missteps the experience overall was pretty good.

Food was Very good the only negative point was my partners rib eye wasn't very good for the price.
Issue with our friendly waitress but with language barrier understanding our order ....repeated several times yet one steak, which four in hand is famous for, was medium rare not medium well .....shouldn't really have to send your meal back to have another crack at it in a restaurant of this Calibre
Food was average and WAY overpriced. It's sad they tried to make the restaurant so fancy... old Four in Hand was great!!
Sadly I cant recommend The Four In Hand. Our food experience fell far short of expectation.
With the exception of a starter of calamari with romesco sauce nothing left a good impression. The fish was something I would be happy with at a local bistro at half the price. The rump steak went back only 1/3 eaten and no one bothered to ask whether there was a reason why it was not eaten. The fries which were so ordinary, the leek with hazelnuts which was squeaky and bland. It may seem that we are dificult to please but honestly this was so ordinary. It was our first time and we had expectations that we would have a memorable meal. Not the case sadly.
The best thing about the dinner was the wine.
Expensive local pub dining. Meat was of high quality. Fish under cooked. Grit/dirt in grilled lettuce. Wines by the glass very expensive. Staff pleasant but not super knowledgeable. I don't like the fit out as before. Its was much warmer and welcoming. Now just a fairly boring room.
Terrific meal and good service but the tables are a fraction too close together and it's noisy. The largest loudest table wins.
Great vibe, nice service and yummy food. Pate was delicious. Duck between 3 was great and way more than enough! Bar area was really vibey and good for pre's too; mixed age crowd.

Really great find. I was looking for a bistro type restaurant with lots of meat options and veggie options.. And I found the place I was looking for! The staff were really great and made some excellent recommendations for food and wine. Great value as well. Will definitely be back.
Unimpressed. Variable performance for an unremarkable menu. Interesting idea to allow dinners to construct their own meal but in practice this was lost in translation.

Great spot for cheese and wine on a Sunday arvo. Roast of day was nice but not as good as other pubs, not a fan of cabbage & kale with a roast.
Cuisine is impeccable. Service not up to the standardard of the Kitchen in the "dining room". Sat facing a wall, they wouldn't offer us another table despite availability.
$18,- for a glass of wine pured out of a three litre bottle, dissapointing and over priced.
Our table of 4 were quite disappointed with the food, having looked forward to a special dining experience. The octopus starter was delicious as was the pork belly, however the yellow fin tuna was totally lacking in flavour. The roast chicken for 2 persons @$65 was completely tasteless, the barramundi not firm but mushy. The chocolate mousse dessert was particularly disappointing having a very gelatinous texture.
