Founding Farmers - Tysons
Great service & awesome drinks!
Food is outstanding, and presentation is special. Great, friendly, and prompt, attentive service. The only drawback is the noise level, which really is a GOOD sign, that it's always crowded!
Everything was perfect
Waiter took a super long time to get the check and return it. Spent about an extra 20 minutes waiting
Pretty pricey but all right for a date.
Paid $100 for a few drinks and a couple appetizers.
Superb food at a reasonable price. Extensive menu. Service was excellent.
Food was ok, I had beer can chicken which was overcooked and very dry but the sides were great. We were there on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed, reservations are a must. This also makes the restaurant very noisy so don't go there thinking you'll have a quiet dinner. Tables are very close, if you end up sitting on the aisle the waiters and table servers will brush up against you constantly. Parking is $25 but they validate so don't forget to bring your ticket inside.
We always like Founding Farmers. It may have been an issue of going there before an event, although the dining room was not packed. But the service was not up to par. Small things, like getting the wrong beer, salad dressing not on the side, as requested, drinks taking forever to arrive.
We are regulars at Founding Farmers and have always been pleased with our entire experience. This time, however, we were disappointed in the food due to inconsistent preparation as we have greatly enjoyed the entree previously. We hope that the quality and consistency historically experienced will continue and look forward to our next visit.
We were seated 30 minutes late for our reservation. The hostess apologized and said they would send along some free bites to start the meal. None came. By the time we realized they were delinquent or nonexistent it was too late as our server only came to check on us 20 minutes after our mains were hastily delivered. It was a busy night and the service was basically a mess and ruined a decent meal. The mains were ordered were good, but not great.
Hi AllanT: Oh gosh! How embarrassing it is for us to read that not only were we late with your reservation this time, but that we offered some tasty treats for your kind patience with our delay, and they never showed. :( This is absolutely unacceptable and I am VERY sorry this happened! I would love to make right this wrong, and will send you a PM to continue this conversation. -Amy
My wife and I went to the restaurant after a show. We had a 7pm reservation, we got there early 6:35pm hoping to get seated early. We were seated at 7:15 after I talked to the hostess. We sat down and the waiter didn't take our order til 7:30.
The food was very good but by the time we finally got our food around 8pm we just wanted to get home. We wanted to try some dessert but didn't want to eat that at close to 9pm.
Service had some glitches...was very slow at times (wine glasses came to table a while after order and wine even longer after that; coffee came pretty quickly after order but dessert came so much later, as did bill which we requested upon dessert order, that we had to leave before consuming). Managers apologized and took coffee and dessert off tab. Have been before and not had an issue. Food was very good.
Went on Restaurant Week. Appetizers were good. Had the Cider Reuben that I had had before and it was tasteless. The bread fell apart. The slaw had no cider taste. Very disappointing since I had loved it the other time. Dessert crisp was quite nice, but it should be half the size.
I met friends for a 1:15pm Sunday brunch reservation. We checked in on time and were told to wait. When I inquired again a little before 1:30, the hostess stated that there is a customary 15 minute waiting period to reservations. Regardless, we were not seated until 1:45pm.
The buffet-style brunch was good, but not worth Tyson's traffic and the tardy seating for our reservation. Best items on the buffet are the salads and hash browns. Iced tea did not taste fresh; more like powdered Nestea.
Delicious brunch menu ! The items were constantly being replenished so there was always enough out. I honestly don’t even know what was the best food item. Everything was amazing!
I have had breakfast there and I thought the brunch would be just as good. The buffet was disappointing. Some of the food was cold, and others overcooked. They do not do mass production well. The food was great the last time I went, but not in the buffet this time. It was overpriced for the quality of food. I am not interested in quantity of the quality isn't there.
Hi AimeeS: I am very sorry to read that your brunch experience with us failed to make the grade, and many items were cold or overcooked. :( This is a true disappointment and I would love the chance to touch base about your feedback. I will send you a PM with my email address. -Amy
The food was outstanding. Although our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, his tableside manner could have been better. I felt his impatience while we were making our choices. He wanted to check the box and move on.
Over 20 mins past reservation time to be seated. Food was delicious and our server was friendly.
Despite having a reservation we had to wait 20 minutes for a table too small to accommodate our party. In fact, they seem to overcrowd a number of tables which caused significant circulation problems for the staff (not to mention fire code hazards). Staff was clearly overwhelmed and often rude. Food was fine, but for the price it was extremely uncomfortable and not worth it. Plenty of other options at the same price point that will accommodate guests and provide a better dining experience.
Hi JenniferF: I am so so sorry to read about the disappointing experience you had with us this past weekend. :( I feel badly for the delayed start to your visit, as well as a table that felt too small to accommodate your party size. This said, I would love to look into this and touch base further. I will send you a DM with my email address. -Amy
Crowded tables close together, too much noise/loud ambiance, and poor service. I think the waiter may have checked on us once throughout our meal and we wound up asking another waiter for assistance. Table next to us complained about their meal and sent one dish back, then wound up waiting for a dish to be served even as one member of the party already had their dish. Clearly the crowds were heading to Cirque afterwards but was also clear that Founding made no provisions for ensuring that there was sufficient staff on hand to deal with the extra crowds. Not a good experience this time.
Food and service were fantastic!
One of my favorites however they didn’t not tell us it as a weekend brunch buffet when we checked in. We were informed by the server once we were seated. If we had known, we wouldn’t have bothered with the 20 minute wait in spite the reservation. They could only serve us drinks. We felt bad for the waiter, taking up a table but we also had nowhere else to go.
We thought all the chain restaurants were set up in the same manner—this restaurant has buffet and it was quite chaotic and hectic. It’s alright just not particularly our cup of tea—service was good no complaints there just not that location we plan coming back to in the future. Reston, VA location is just as busy, but ambiance is much more conducive to eating comfortably, relaxing and enjoying a meal with family and friends.
Wasn’t expecting a buffet but I was pleasantly surprised. Wide variety on buffet as well as a-la-cart items cooked to order which were also included. Will definitely be back during my next trip to the area
The brunch service has changed slightly but overall the food was great and the quality was great for the price! Some items have to be prepared in the back and the wait staff should make that known to the patrons when they sit down. Otherwise the brunch is amazing and top notch
Absolutely amazing service. Food was great. Zero complaints.
Experience started poorly with server pouring water without any eye contact or communication with our table and then sliding the water down the table to us. Then after we ordered telling us items were not available instead of telling us before hand what was sold out.
A disappointing experience service wise, and the food was not up to previous experiences. Pasta was dry, and salad was not flavorful.
Fantastic restaurant week offers!
Friendly staff for sure. Paid attention to the notes we put into our OpenTable reservation. Seated us immediately when we walked in a few minutes early.
Just awesome as usual! Went for “Restaurant Week” and everything from the appetizers to desserts were delicious!
Everything was excellent except one.
I ordered Many Vegetable Mushroom Loaf which was too salty to me.
Very happy. Food was great, service was even better. We did the Restaurant Week menu which was a great way to try things. I was caught a little off guard that the house-made soda was $5.50 each...but my fault for not asking before ordering. Will definitely be back.
Hi PHan: Thank you for your wonderful RW review! We really appreciate it and your 5-STAR rating left us VERY happy, too! :) We hope to have you back for anther try soon and please call us at 703-442-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
We were in a little quieter side of the restaurant which helped as there were five of us. Two of our party were late (it had just poured and traffic was awful) so we did wait for our table but understood. Our waiter was not very attentive and we waited some time for him to greet us - he brought water and walked away! Finally he returned and asked if we were ready to order - no drink orders! So we ordered all at the same time and our appetizers came before our drinks. However since the meal is such a good bargain and we were there to enjoy we overlooked the timing thing. Lots of selections and huge portions, all of is truly enjoyed our food and experience - just delicious and look forward to another trip!
The food is always great and the waiter was awesome! Thank you!
The very veggie mushroom loaf was a little chalky. However this is the only Founding Farmers that does the cold press juices. The farm bread with Brie cheese and green apples with onion jam is excellent! Deviled eggs with crab meat is heaven.
It was restaurant week. The option that I wanted I couldn’t get even though I offered to pay the $3 difference. They had no ranch for the wings. I need ranch. Also, the steak & enchiladas was ok. I don’t like corn tortillas didn’t know it came with that.
Food was delicious, and definitely overate but have no regrets
We waited 20 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Several parties of 2 were seated ahead of us. When we inquired, one of the hosts said we had requested a table “upstairs,” but we had not.
Noise level is extremely high here, so no chance for a good conversation. Server was nice, didn’t write anything down, and got our orders correct except for the decaf cappuccino after dinner—NOT decaf. Up all night. Made for a one star experience overall. Food was good but not spectacular.
The restaurant is a watering hole for young professionals, and is VERY noisy. There is a large crowd around the bar, even on weekday evenings. The noise is very bothersome--can't hear the people at your own table. The food tasted very good, but I ordered steak medium, and it came out with a dark red center and was very much rare. The waitress did take it back, and it was reheated--and the manager did come out, apologize, and take the steak off my bill. Still, for older diners, the noise and crowd really impacts the ambience and detracts from the meal. On the other hand, the menu is very appealing, and we will try the Founding Farmers restaurant in Reston.
