Founding Farmers - Tysons Ratings and Reviews
Waiter was simply not friendly. We don't know if his girlfriend just broke up with him, but he did not make us feel welcome. Food was good, as usual, but they forgot to bring out my tomato soup as a starter, which through off the whole meal. They comped us for the soup, but still. We really enjoy taking our family to this place, but our experience last night was sub-par in comparison to what we are used to. We really hope this doesn't become the norm.
We went for their brunch and came away feeling that while the food was good, it wasn’t worth $32 each. The service was the worst; from waiting 15 minutes to be seated after arriving on time for our reservation, to never being served the egg benedict that I ordered (they managed to serve my boyfriend his though). It was odd, we ended up having two different servers working our area together and between the two them neither could manage to refill our coffee the entire meal. The one waitress was really sweet though when she noticed that we had never received our coffee refills and sent us home with to-go cups and apologizes. Maybe we’ll just stick to dinner here.
Brunch was very good! There were lots of options. Everything tasted great and the drinks were also good. Only concern was the buffet needed the labels we had a shellfish allergy in our party and at some point there was concern that one of the spreads may have had crab so better lables would have been helpful. That said the servers were great and did intially offer to walk is through the items on the buffet but we passed on the offer (so we're partially to blame) we will definitely return
The food was fantastic. I had chicken pot pie and it was definitely made from scratch with large chunks of chicken, onions, potatoes and carrots in very yummy sauce topped with fluffy flaky crust. My husband had rib eye and he gave it five stats - it was cooked to his specifications, it was flavorful and juicy. Potatoes au gratin and mixed vegetables were OK.
Food was interesting and a relatively good value for the money. Drinks were not. Being seated for a 7.45 reservation at 8.05 only after complaining? No bueno. They are -clearly- oversubscribed on reservations at peak hours. If I wanted a “check-in” system, I’d use Nowait...
I took my team of 8 from work here for dinner. Overall we enjoyed the food and drinks, and the service was good. However, they sat us at a round booth table against the back wall. The table was not big enough to seat 8 comfortably, and I had to pull over a chair to stick on the end. The booth seats were worn and the cusions were flat, so the table came up to my chest and my knees were up high. I found it to be very uncomfortable (until I got a chair). The booth itself was nestled in large floor to ceiling wall coverings that made it feel cramped and claustrophobic. It was also very hard to talk to anyone except the person next to you because the round table was so large. If we ever come here again for a group we will insist on a rectangular long table with chairs instead.
Founding Farmers was a delight for brunch. The service was spot on and food was delicious. It was my first time dining there, and as mentioned, was there for brunch so I can’t speak to the menu for later in the day. The am menu was great! Decent portion size and the coffee was excellent. I will definitely return.
Out of all the founding farmers, farmers fishers bakers restaurants, (we have been to all in the area) this was the only one we had to wait over 30 min. passed our reservation time. It was a week night , Wednesday, and we used open table. Will return to others , but just not this location.
We visited Founding Farmers to celebrate a birthday and we enjoyed the entire dining experience - from the online reservation, to parking convenient to the front entrance, to the courteous hostess who took us to a requested booth. We then enjoyed a few cocktails and a splendid crab dip appetizer before our scallops with butternut squash risotto and ribeye steak entrees. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly, and service was efficient with just the right amount of attention. We finished dinner by sharing a piece of peanut butter mousse pie. A wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended. We can’t wait to go again.
For a buffet brunch, the food was very good. They ran out often and were not good about replenishing items quickly which was frustrating. It was very crowded but staff were friendly and tried to make the best of the situation. Don't go without a reservation!
The food was great! Variety of food was great! Salads, hot breakfast and lunch foods, mini muffins and pastries. Did not have an omelet station, which was disappointing, but might have held up the buffet even more. The restaurant was crowded, so slow through the buffet line, and very noisy. The menu in the restaurant is only for drinks, so could not remember what items would be ‘passed around’. Might miss out on something.
Another wonderful meal at Founding Farmers. Fantastic Sunday Brunch. Be sure to have reservations – restaurant was packed – still only had to wait 5 minutes for our table. Our go to restaurant. Delicious food and great time had by all. Great wait staff – very attentive to all of our requests.
Waaaay overpriced for brunch. The waiter had the nerve to call the brunch menu "made to oder." Dude, by definition, a brunch is NOT made to order. Pancakes in a giant pan, french toast that's been sitting out, a giant bowl of scrambled eggs? If I wanted that, I'd go to Golden Corral for a tenth of the price.
We made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary. Had to wait over 40 minutes still. No kids menu either ... Food was good but I like their brunch better. I'm not going back there for dinner ever though. So many other places I can go to where I don't have to wait that long and food is better priced and just as good. Maybe brunch ...
Met with an old college friend for dinner and was not disappointed. Food was very good (nice choices on the dinner menu with interesting twists on southern favorites). Server was EXCELLENT---we had lots of catching up to do so she was available but not hovering. The most disappointing aspect (and one that is apparently a long-term issue) was the reservation and seating situation. I made an Open Table booking for 8:30pm but showed up around 7:15pm just in case I could put my name in and get an earlier seat. We were not seated until after 9pm and only after we pestered the host at least 4-5 times after the hour we were told it would take to seat us. Something needs to be done about this because you are going to lose customers who get frustrated and go to one of the other many restaurants nearby.
We had a wonderful time at Founding Farmers with exceptional service by our entertaining server, Randall! His recommendations for cocktails and food were perfect as was his comic delivery. The popcorn, bacon lollis, and biscuits were delicious and we'll definitely be back for the Prime Rib Dip. Fantastic day at FF!
Got seated 45 mins after our reservation time. Gnocci dish I ordered was way too sweet, had to send it back. Got the bucchatini as a back up, which was much better. This is the first bad experience with FF. I expect that it will not become the new standard.
My only complaint was that when we arrived for our 5 pm reservation not many were there. We were seated between 2 tables of people. When we asked to sit somewhere else they didn't do it. The person I was with has a hearing problem so could basically not hear anything.
Wonderful lunch. Fish and chips was a smaller more manageable portion than many places and crispy and delicious. Chips of two varieties, one thin and one strips were crispy good. Their roasted tomato soup was spicy and flavorful. The founding farmer salad was fresh and good. Service was slow but we weren’t in a hurry.
