Amazing food and great prices!!!
Loved the set lunch that we ate at 40 Dean st. I had cauliflower and parsnip soup to start which was delicious. My partner raves about his main course pork and bean stew. We will go back!
Great Italian in Soho! Just came from an amazing dinner at 40 Dean. I don’t often review restaurants but felt compelled to for this one. The ambience is great and service was fantastic. Great salads to start. My wife had the arribiata and I had the homemade ravioli with lobster. The desserts were great. Amazing pistachio tiramisu. I would recommend this restaurant highly, one of our best meals in London thus far. If I am ever back in this area again I would eat here in a heartbeat.
It's ok. Not amazing, not appalling. Rather average Italian fare but that's kind of expected in the middle of Soho. Most dishes were acceptable, except for a friend who ordered chicken Milanese and was presented with a breaded chicken breast covered with a lump of rather dry-looking spaghetti. Being Italian I can guarantee you I never seen such a dish in Italy. He wasn't happy either.
Thanks to the staff for accommodating a change in the booking for an extra guest, really appreciated.
Amazing food from starter to dessert and very tasty wine for my Mum and I; my only grumble was the waiter trying to take my plate away before I had finished.
Very enjoyable Dining Experience... friendly staff and atmosphere... excellent food ... wine was v pricey...definitely recommend and will return
I’ve visited this restaurant a few times and have brought large groups here. The food was good although service was a bit slow tonight. The dampener on our evening is that my friend’s coat was taken from the coat rack by the door. The staff remaining at the end of the night helped as much as they could and when my friend followed up she was told that she would be reimbursed for the cost of the coat which was only purchased 2 months previously. However, the owner spoke to my friend today, was very unpleasant and aggressive and refused to pay for a second-hand coat. He was unecessarily rude and we are all upset by the incident.
Food was fantastic! We have gone twice on our vacation because the food was so good. Everyone is very friendly- loved the staff.
Good quality Italian Food in a nice environment. Well worth a visit.
Food was absolutely delicious, I had the sea bass!
Great food - lovely ambience - thoroughly recommend.
Great waiting staff who was really accommodating with our two children.
Lovely atmosphere and perfect for a pre-theatre meal
A nice secret restaurant tucked away in the heart of Soho. Happy to be back so soon. Definitely will be returning in summer for the ambiance, the wine and the calamari!!
Lovely little restaurant with a great atmosphere
Great local Soho Italian restaurant, amazing value given its location. Have been many times, will go many more times.
Fabulous restaurant. Fantastic food made with real care and quality ingredients, the service was outstanding with real attention to detail and the over all atmosphere of the venue was lively yet intimate.
Always good food, lively atmosphere sometimes a little loud. Drinks good value. Service can be hit and miss but always we’ll meaning. Set menu great value.
Been past many times but this was our first visit. An attractive restaurant with lovely, attentive service and excellent food. We had the set menu which was great value but al-a-carte also looked reasonable
Came in after theatre and the food was lovely, couldn't be more helpful. I'd definitely go again when I visit london
Friendly service tho too many people asking the same questions, ie “is everything alright” too often.
My main came covered in unasked for green leaf salad so I couldn’t see the food. My companion’s looked a bit insipid in the low level lighting. But both tasted good.
Not bad at all. Will go back.
The waiters were particularly great! The restaurant has a quintessentially Italian vibe to it and the food was perfect.
A lovely restaurant nestled in the heart of Soho that was just perfect for our pre-theatre dinner. Great food and drinks with a lovely atmosphere and excellent service.
Great place and brilliant food Iand wine , I am so pleased to have found it and will definitely go again , friendly staff where nothing was too much trouble including charging up my phone !
A huge massive plus point is that they allow dogs here! Another huge massive plus point was that the food was absolutely delicious. I had the beef ragu and it was incredible. I’ll definitely be coming here again.
Once we got there we had to wait about 20 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation, a table took more time to clear. The place is tiny but with a good atmosphere. It definitely worth the wait because the food was great, we really enjoyed it and we’ll definitely come back to try different dishes. Very recommended for a casual date or dinner with friends.
Food was great! The service was fantastic except for the delay between our starters and main which was over a 30 mins other than that cant fault them! Would recommend
Our table wasn’t ready in time and were asked to wait outside in the cold for 10 minutes whilst our table became available. We had to get up and get our own water for the table. Once eventually got the attention of the waiter to order our mains which we waited for over an hour. Despite taking an hour for our food, it arrived, parts of our food was cold which was worrying. They did take away our dishes and gave us a new hot one.
The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant, was buzzing and the look and feel of the restaurant was pleasant!
Good deal from the dinner set menu, overall nice Experience
Too many covers squeezed into a relatively small space.
Consistently good service, although a little rushed at times. Restaurant was Very busy.
Good wine list.
Good choice of set menu.
Great value for money.
This was my partners 60th Birthday. We had arranged for friends to meet us there as a surprise. The staff were very good at going along with the surprise when we arrived, our friends were already seated and enjoying a drink.
The restaurant has a lovely ambience and the staff were very friendly. Service was very good and we didn't wait long for our food to arrive. The food itself was really delicious and enjoyed by all. When my partners dessert arrived it had a sparkler candle and they sang happy birthday which added a special touch.
I do not live near London and had never eaten at 40 Dean street before but I was very happy with my booking choice.
A great overall experience!
Very nice food. Friendly.
The overall experience and quality of food was very good. The ambiance is intimate and warm and the vibe is well worth the visit. My only gripe is that for our evening booking we were rushed to order food quickly as the kitchen was closing. However, the food arrived at a decent time and was hot and tasty. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day meal in the middle of Soho and we both agreed we’d return again.
Food was absolutely delicious - i had a seafood risotto and my partner lamb, both first class.
On arrival, rather than being friendly and welcoming, the front of house merely informed me that we were 10 minutes late. I had been told we couldn't arrive 15 minutes after the booking but as we were only 10 minutes late, i found this very unnecessary and quite rude.
My boyfriends starter had far too much dressing on it, he could not taste the beef.
Other than that the ambiance was good.
Very good experience - food and value better than expected
Good menu with plenty of choice, ample portion sizes - my friend and I shared a portion of cheese for desert and there was plenty - delicious food, delightful service and reasonable prices. All right in the middle of Soho; what more can you ask for? Easy access to Shaftsbury Avenue for theatres and the West End for shopping. A true gem.
Great experience. Very good value for money
This is a great unassuming Italian which I know gets very busy most nights.
Went on storm Ciara Sunday so it was quiet however the food was excellent and great value for money.
Perfect for our dinner before we went off to Ronnie Scotts.
The restaurant is lovely and the food delicious and well priced. Only quibble is the sound system which was set a tad too loud but less than my last visit; taking it down a further notch would be magic.
Good little restaurant, friendly staff, good value , easy reach of West End theatres etc.
