The restaurant is open during Spring, Summer, and Fall for Forest House guests to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend. we also are open to the general public for dinner.
The place was closed for the season.........thanks for not letting us know after we drove 20 miles to get there
Just had my second meal here. The food is very good authentic German. I had my German Mother-in-Law with us and she was delighted. We shared several app's and desert, and each had different entre's. The entire experience was great. The atmosphere has not changed in forever, it is like walking into a small place in the Alps. Delightful.
We went here the night we arrived in the area for an extended weekend / anniversary / retirement celebration. It is definitely out-of-the-way, but well worth the trip. The food was excellent, the wait staff attentive (then again, with only two tables occupied it might not have been that hard). The best part (besides the food) was conversing with the people at the other table. It felt like being part of a larger family that night. Oh, the last picture is dessert- it did not last long at all.
Almost too many options to select from, and none look bad
There is a great selection of appetizers and entrees. We started out with the Shrimp Rosate appetizer, then moved on to our entrees. My wife chose the scallops special while I had the Rouladen. They were both fantastic. For dessert, we both went for the chocolate mocha torte which did not last long.
If you like German food, I have had few better meals, even in Germany.
Total cost was just under $100 before tip.
Been dining in the area for many years and never knew about this diamond in the literal rough until very recently. When you arrive, you feel like you've stepped back in time to a well preserved German themed resort from the 1950's. The food is traditional German fare that tastes delicious. The mushroom soup was tasty, the salad with homemade dressing was tasty, the sauerbraten with spaetzle and red cabbage was tasty, the almond cake was tasty. Wash dinner down with old fashioned flavored sodas that you have to mix before you drink them. All for a very reasonable price for good quality food. We will definitely keep going back.
The Forsthaus is a wonderful restaurant serving authentic German cuisine, along with creative alternative options. The food is delicious and definitely worth the drive. Ralph is a fabulous host and makes you feel welcome and right at home.
It's a funky old place which was nice, had a European feel. Unfortunately, the food was truly awful, burnt onion flavor prevailed. The only decent thing was the red cabbage! Great potential there but need serious help in the kitchen.
Food was fresh and delicious. Authentic German cuisine. Service was friendly. Going back again and again.
The food was amazing. Authentic German fare and you can tell the recipes have been passed down and refined through the generations. Family owned with with homey feel. The owner visited each table to say hello and chat with patrons. I recommend the veinerschnitzel.
Enjoy German food and German restaurants are very few and far between. Happy to have a restaurant specializing in this cuisine close to home.
Have been to Germany numerous times and do miss the food but will certainly visit this restaurant again. The owner is very friendly and accomodating.
