Ilha Formosa, beautiful island. The name was given by the Portuguese when they discovered the island of Taiwan in 1544. Due to its great ethnic diversity, Taiwan presents the world with a food culture of a wide variety of choices. Taiwanese cuisine itself is often associated with influences from China, Japan, and North America, but also blends in its unique flavour and local characteristics. Incredible food and highly attentive service. We heard about this restaurant from a review on CBC and I'm so glad we gave it a shot. Everything was delicious. Try the popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries (actually made with sweet potatoes instead of yams), and the braised pork belly over rice. Actually, try anything. It was all amazing. Try it and love it!!! We can't wait to go back.

It was my first time eating at Formosa and we will be returning. The service friendly and engaged and the food was fresh, creative and mouthwateringly delicious. We had the popcorn chicken, boiled vegetable (Gai Lain with a savoury-sweet sauce with bits of porks), marinated pork belly, and beef stew noodles. I can't pick a favourite. Love and care in the food.

Loved it. The lady who served us explained Taiwanese cuisine, assisted us to select items from the menu and was friendly and engaging. The food was very, very good. Will be back.

Popcorn chicken was pretty damn good. that bao gua(kaagura chicken?) or whatever was interesting but i liked it so did my girlfriend. paid around 45 bucks for some decent sides. didnt get a main dish . just the sides alone was good.,

The two of us ordered the 5-course meal for $39.99. It was more than enough to eat! The owner described everything that we ordered & gave us extra Kimchee & soup as well. All the food was delicious!
The green tea from Taiwan is very good.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We ordered everything that was recommended to order from here - popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries, pork belly bao, 100 year egg on Tofu, as well as edamame, Teppanyaki noodles with chicken & a delicious black pepper sauce.

The owner came by to bring us some Taiwanese Kimchi to try & it was very different from the Korean version. Sweet & vinegary, rather than hot.

The tea we ordered to drink was brought from the owner’s next door neighbor in Taiwan. Both the green & the black were very smooth.
I wouldn’t hesitate to return here for a meal!

Good food and lovely staff. We had a variety of food - I recommend the braised pork rice bowl and the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The chicken has a distinctive clove/cinnamony, sweet and savoury flavour. Great prices as well.

Great Taiwanese food! It’s nice to finally have a great one in Edmonton. Service was wonderful and knowledgeable about menu. Their Popcorn chicken and Sweet potatoe (not yam!) fries really DO taste like donuts! You have to try them! Steamed fish was delicious and rice side dish was accompanied by other little side dishes which was a nice surprise.

Good wholesome food. The server were good , friendly and helpful. The food was as stated on the menu and was tasty and not full of MSG.
Prices are reasonable. The restaurant was spacious and quiet , good ambience. Overall I highly recommend this is you want good food without spending an arm and a leg

I like how the food is authentic and flavoured in such a way that I can appreciate the ingredients used and the care they was taken into preparing my meal. There is no overflavoring with salt and MSG here. It's just pure, guilt-free food. Highly recommended!
