We had a very tasty lunch at Forage and Chatter recently. Only the Beetroot starter was a bit bland and disappointing, the Duck Terrine, the Beef Fillet mains and the Chocolate & Pear dessert were stunning.
But I fear we will not return. Our complaint is that service was TOO fast. Although slick, we had hardly any time between courses to draw breath and started to ask for some time before considering dessert, then coffee. Bill arrived unasked for, further interruption to ask whether we were paying by Card or cash, coats left on a chair near door....and please upgrade your toilets!

The restaurant is quite cosy, the service was very nice and the food was also very good (tagliatelle mushroom & cheese as well as broccoli with garlic to recommend). We had a wonderful evening!

Great restauant with relaxing atmosphere. Easy to reserve time for dinner thru there website. Super nice staff wich make you feel very welcome. The three course meal we had was a quite uniq mix for my consern but tasty, especially the desert. Recommended for a dinner out in Edinburgh.

The organic White wine was a little strange, no very like Pinot, very scented. We decided we were glad we didn't but a bottle especially at £8.20 a glass. Food excellent!

Business lunch for 4. Having tried many Edinburgh restaurants, I noticed this on Open Table and thought we'd check it out. The Food, ambiance, service and price were excellent and cannot be faulted. This is a restaurant you really must try. Enjoy!

Completely perfect in every way! My wife and I were lucky enough to find this amazing gem and have the best meal we've had in a very long time. The choc fondant and white choc mousse were ridiculous as deserts. Recommended endlesseley :)

Made this booking without checking any reviews, liked the look of the restaurant from the outside and the diplayed menus. Brought my wife and 2 friends for lunch, from making the online booking to leaving the restaurant at 3.15 it was a real pleasure. Hosts made us very welcome, their presentation and presence were top notch, unobtrusive but attentive, but the real plus was the quality of food. Best 3 coarses I have encountered for a while, fresh, tasty and ample. All reasonably priced ( except as usual ) the wine, but on an overall experience this was a highly rated restaurant and I would, and have recommended to others. Don't delay, go today!

Third visit and still one of the best places I have visited. One minor blip in that complimentary bread was served at virtually same time as starter. This was acknowledged as not appropriate and ultimately didn’t spoil a beautiful meal.

We had very tasty fish starters and meals. Everything was lovely and especially the service was amazingly fast. The waiters were super attentive and we had a little surprise birthday fudge provided to us just for free. Would highly recommend it for a nice dinner on a weekday or a weekend. Really cosy and calm place where you can enjoy your food to the fullest.

Such a shame, it's a wonderful place but we felt so interrupted by the almost constant filling up of our water glasses (I lost count after 7 times) and the facts that our starters arrived before the wine did and that the mains came out almost instantly after our starters. The duck main was also a very small portion but must say the mushroom starter was simply incredible.

Picked up this gem on tripadvisor and drawn to it by the reviews, menu and photographs. We were not disappointed. As soon as we arrived we were greeted pleasantly, our coats taken and lead to a lovely lounge area for a pre-dinner drink despite being over thirty minutes early!
Our servers were all very friendly and have a special mention for Ben from Hull who was excellent in terms of his attention, politeness and friendliness without being oppressive. His knowledge of the drinks and food menu was also outstanding.
To the food and drink - obviously used quality ingredients and they were cooked and arranged to perfection. On first sight I may have thought the portions were small, but once we got into eating the portion size was perfect as my wife and I were both able to then sample from the full extent of the menu - which in this place you have to do. Gorgeous appetiser of their signature dough balls with lovely spreads also. All night long our glasses were refilled - no extra charge for extra water etc, and we were never rushed with any of our decisions and never felt we were needed to vacate the table despite it being a Friday night and seeing unfortunate drop-ins turned away! Always worth booking in advance to guarantee a table.
To finish, being from out of town and wanting to continue our lovely evening we asked Ben if he could recommend a nice bar for a conversational couple to grab a drink on a Friday night. Once again the service was impeccable as he returned with a map to guide us on a ten minute walk from the restaurant to an amazing bar for couples and small groups to while away the hours over a special cocktail or beer. Just another part of the fantastic service Forage and Chatter offers.
In short, this is one place not to be missed for a special night out in Edinburgh.

A pleasant venue with tables well spaced so able to have a conversation without too much noise. Food excellent well described and prepared. Staff attentive almost too attentive re topping up water and wine frequently. Only slight niggle was a wall full of dead butterflies in cases when the restaurant professes an earthy environmental locally sourced philosophy, a bit incongruous.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. Amazing local ingredients cooked with a French twist and instilled with more flavour than you could ever imagine possible. Attentive service and a lovely atmosphere. Really special and half the price of some of the other better known Edinburgh restaurants where the food isn't even close to as good as it is here!

This was my second time here for lunch this year and I yet again I was extremely impressed. I opted for the fixed price menu which had some good options to choice from and when the food arrived you knew it was freshly cooked with good ingredients. The staff were all very attentive.
I would definitely recommend.
