Lovely service and food presentation
Once again Florentino's delivers on flavour sensational meal the Ravioli with egg yolk inside it is truly a work of art. The meal was paired with lovely Italian wines absolutely superb. The service is top notch what you expect from the Institution that is Florentino's upstairs. Highly recommended.
Could not fault this amazing Italian restaurant. The décor of the upstairs dining evokes Italian decadence and the service was impeccable. Our waitress Paola from Lombardy was helpful, knowledgeable and a delight to chat to. The sommelier shared his expertise to help us chose an excellent bottle of wine.
We decided on à la carte with three courses but then the cheese came out an we couldn’t resist. This was our first visit to Grossi Florentino and it was one of our best dining experiences ever!

Amazing food and service second to none.
The service provided by all the staff was outstanding. They explained all our choices re food and drinks. We informed them that we were going to a show after dinner and they insured that we were served in a timely manner without us feeling hurried.
The food not only tasted exquisite but looked just amazing, and the courses were just the right size. However I found the risotto a bit too 'al dente'.
A restaurant characterised both by platinum level service and food excellence so often missing these days. Price is consequently at the higher end but wholly juustified
Impeccable food and service in a beautiful ambient setting. However disappointed to be charged $12/litre for still water when wait staff refilled your water glass without consulting you. Price of the grand tour menu at $180/head should include complimentary still water. Error made with our cheese selection and we were charged for an extra glass of wine that we didn't actually have. We didn't check the bill at time of payment as we assumed an establishment of this stature would not make an error.
I'd been to Grossi Florentino upstairs several years ago and loved it. On this occasion however the menu appeared to have been "modernised" and was honestly a bit disappointing. Presentation was good but the flavours were lacking and why no side dishes? It felt as though they had decided to ditch the traditional in an effort to become "fine dining" but it should be taste first. The food in our opinion was good but not great. Service and atmosphere were top notch and we still had a lovely night
The service was great and the sommelier was really good. HowevI was disappointed by the presentation of the food. Pictures on their Instagram account look way better than the plate you are being served although the flavours are there. I was also disappointed to be served in the side room and being told that there was an event the next day so they could not open the main room. All their marketing is about that main room and not being told that we would not be able to eat in it was disappointing.

We were a couple celebrating an anniversary dinner.
The atmosphere was lovely the right level of noise with customer service exceptional.
We ordered the Gran Tour, it was incredible each dish was perfect with an appropriate amount of time between each course.
Staff were informative and helpful with each dish and knowledgeable on recommendations.
All the dishes we would recommend to anyone. The food was amazing.
I had the Gran Tour menu with matching wines. Service was impeccable. Next time i go, I'll probably mix-it up and order the three course option, with extra course for $25, for courses that are more suited to my taste. E.g. not a dessert person. They are accommodating to personal taste/ allergies/ etc. Great food.
my wife and i had dinner there celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and were amazed with the food, service and ambiance. The staff were fantastic formal but not snobbish gave great advice on wine selection.

From the moment we were welcomed we knew this would be a unique experience. We weren’t wrong as the service , food and wine were exceptional. The small touches of having Guy sign a birthday card for Emma then decorate her dessert acknowledging the occasion was just brilliant. The entire Team did the Grossi Florentino reputation and experience proud. Hats off in particular to our sommelier for the evening who demonstrated genuine knowledge and passion. Thank You! Consistently one of Melbourne's, and Australia's, greatest restaurants, with an historic Italian heritage and influence in its amazing dishes, from a classic tomato and buffalo mozzarella starter with perfect quality ingredients through the perfectly cooked and flavoursome ravioli, to the lamb which is always a highlight, however presented.

We were served the wrong courses twice. The service was rather cold and mechanical. For a $450 meal for two the evening clearly failed to meet expectations. Totally disappointing
We were on a cruise from Sydney to Hobart with a stop at Melbourne, so we went back to Grossi Florentino Upstairs for lunch. What en exceptional restaurant this is, and what a fantastic dining experience the people here create. This is fine dining at it's best.
Pleasant, not the wow factor we were expecting. Staff excellent, food a little disappointing.
One of the paired wines did not match the food, but it was quickly replaced with something more to my partner's palate.
We were charged $20 extra for a bottle of wine, however this was quickly rectified.
We were shocked to be charged $24.00 for water.
A creative array of small tasting dishes on the house really wowed our taste buds in readiness for the scallops entre & snapper main - the seafood was delicately & delicious!!! Tastiest scallops l have eaten in ages with the roe made into a special mouse & the snapper was crispy on the outside but superbly moist on the inside - l also adored its creamy bed - my partner’s meat/pasta entre was a hit the right spot as did the succulent duck he tucked into for his main - he loved the tiny turnips

My family has always been going to Grossi Upstairs for at least 4 years. That and Chef Guy’s other restaurant in Collingwood is a testament to the passion and capability of the team to deliver top notch products. Well done team Grossi keep it up!
Waiters were pretentious - totally unnecessary. Made us feel uncomfortable & unwelcome. Food waiter was unfamiliar with ingredients in some of the dishes leading to poor descriptions. Food was overpriced. Ordering a la carte - forced to have 3 dishes. Issues with some of our dishes which management tried to fix by providing additional alternative dishes. After 4 dishes including 3 amuse-bouche we could not eat anymore. We were very disappointed having traveled from Sydney
The staff were excellent, the ambience likewise. The food was variable: entree very good, though the tomatoes were too chilled; the 2nd course, risotto, was nicely done tho a little bland; the cod with beans was nice, tho the beans were very salty. For the price, the food was disappointing. Indeed, I believe the overall experience was significantly over-priced.
Great menu choices, high quality foods and wines supported by excellent service. Also never felt hurried and took 2.5 hours over lunch as did the rest of the patrons. First time my wife and I have been there and would recommend it for romantic dinners as well as round table dinners. As a lot of the dishes were written in Italian the waiters were very helpful in assisting the translations and engaged with us appropriately. We thought it was good value.
My fiancé and I loved everything about the whole dining experience. The food and service was amazing. Will definitely be returning to try other dishes on the menu. Could not fault anything.

Grossi Florentino was a fantastic surprise whilst I used to frequent it years ago I will now be frequenting it again. It was simply outstanding, the service, ambience and food were world class. The six course tasting menu is a must for the well travelled and seasoned foodies. The development of the menu from earlier years will have Grossi Florentino at the top of the food critiques list for many years to come. A must dining experience in Melbourne! Food good but nothing special. Beware the devious wine waiter who offers no wine list with prices. Instead offers unpriced glasses of wine leaving the big surprise when you receive the bill. Who would have thought 4 glasses of wine and 2 coffees would cost $157 when the food bill was $130 for 2 lunchtime meals.
On arrival and throughout the meal the service was exceptional and of the highest quality. The service by all staff made you feel special! The food was super delicious and the recommended Italian wines superb. The drinks waiter had deep knowledge of wineries throughout Italy. It was a memorable and magical night! Thank you to all staff at Grossi Florentino for a spectacular experience.
Well, as you might have guessed from my all-10-points, this restaurant is a diamond. Their sommelier is extraordinary. Their servers are incredibly attentive without seeming to hover. Their food however is out of this world. The oysters are pure poetry. The eel parfait is divine. The wagyu beef ... melt in the mouth with crunchy kale ...awesome. and the dessert - a fluffy composition of hot and cold paired with yet another incredible wine - to die for.
