Floral by Lima
Under the keen eye of Virgilio Martinez (Executive Chef and ranked #5 in the World 50 Best List and #1 in in Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list) and Robert Ortiz, the same high standards apply and customers and critics alike have been equally lavish with praise. Amongst these we are pleased to have been awarded two AA Rosettes and a 5-Star review from Time Out.
Rocoto mayonnaise, ginger chimichurri
Brazilian nut pesto, Lima beans, rocoto tiger's milk
Nikkei tiger's milk, seaweed and sesame salad
Went to floral Lima for a midweek lunch, not too busy and nice environment.
Food was good, but nothing exceptional... the seabream ceviche was excellent, but far too small for the price given... The scallop ceviche was ok. The main courses were better just a bit on the salty side for the beef sauce and the puree on the pork belly dish was a bit plastic tasting and under seasoned.
my rice pudding dessert was very good and a nice ending to the meal, by brothers dessert was a overly set panna cotta which he left half eaten. Waitress didn't say anything as to why it wasn't finished. We had a fair bit of food with 2 x pisco sours and bill would have been around £140 which is expensive for what it is... but we had a voucher which made it just about affordable.
This is a beautiful restaurant with very attentive and helpful staff. Unfortunately the food was underwhelming and quite expensive
Good food, good service, nice location. good place
Really nice food. We went for the set brunch menu. The food was delicious and the service was really good.
Would definitely recommend.
Lovely restaurant, great decor, very quiet (we were one of four tables). The food is always delicious and beautifully presented. Good choice of wines. Only thing that put me off is that they have a happy hour downstairs but not upstairs for some reason. So we ended up paying full price for drinks that were 50% off downstairs - can't understand the logic. Otherwise, we always have a great time when we come to Floral by Lima.
Good experience and really nice service.
We had a really nice selection of very tasty food to share. The staff were really friendly and helpful. This was a very good choice for us before heading off to the theatre. Nicely full but not bursting.
Cosy restaurant with some very nice dishes. Very friendly staff. We really enjoyed our visit.
Terrible experience. Made my mother violently sick
Overall disappointing. Decent food but nothing worth remembering. Room is quite dark and underwhelming. Friendly staff and nice touch to celebrate birthday.
We had an enjoyable meal apart from a drink being forgotten and the main course of duck being dry and a little tough.
Excellent food, really tasty and great service and atmosphere
Great spot in heart of Covent Garden with excellent vibe, food and ambiance.
Hot dishes were best tasting but almost cold.
Servers were overwhelmed on a busy Tuesday.
£17 for a plate of cold noodles was the one thing that took the mickey but otherwise was fine.
Awesome food pre theatre dinner menu
This was our first experience of Peruvian food and very good it was too. The waiter was very helpful in helping us choose a selection of dishes to try and we enjoyed some very colourful and tasty dishes helped down by some Peruvian wine (another first).
We chose a fairly quiet Tuesday lunchtime so it was difficult to imagine what the atmosphere might be when it is more crowded but we would certainly be happy to sample Peruvian food again.
Good food specially el Alfajor
Good sharing menu and cocktails.
Really good food, good atmosphere, a bit expensive but worth it
Food was a little underwhelming and under seasoned; desserts were lovely. Some of the mains were cold and I don't think this was intentional. The music was too loud, and not atmospheric for a valentines meal. Service was fair.
Very very good. The service and the live music all created a very enjoyable ambience for my wife and myself. I would highly recommend this place.
Fresh flavours and quick service. Would recommend!
Group of 7 friends. We enjoyed it. Relaxed and nice service.
The food was really good and I tried couple of menu items. The place wasn't very busy when I arrived but It got packed after half an hour but it didn't changed the quality of the service.
Delicious food and excellent service. Would highly recommend. We went for the set menu and were very impressed.
Excellent restaurant with delicious food! Good service and the tasting menu is good value for money. Would definitely recommend!
A better restaurant would provide a welcome; and perhaps provide a drink before serving food. This is a fast food joint in sheep’s clothing.
The food was very lovely, but i am afraid for the price you pay the service really let the evening down. It was not the fault of any individuals as they generally all seemed very nice and extremely busy, so perhaps there were not enough staff working. However, we had to wait nearly 1/2 hour for our wine to arrive (unsure why, but some mention of no wine glasses being available). We had to remind the waiting staff about missing dishes we had ordered more that once. And, then again when we ordered a second bottle of wine, which was very slow to arrive. Generally, it felt like we had to work at the evening, rather than relax and enjoy our meal. A shame as the food is very nice.
Disappointed. I’ve been here previously and had a great meal. The service was incredibly slow, despite it not being busy. We gave up on ordering dessert after no one came by for half an hour. Flavours were nice but not sharp and sauces were a little syrupy.
First time experiencing Peruvian food - i now want to visit Peru. We did the Cuzco menu - all dishes absolutely delicious.
Shame there isn't a Floral in Newcastle....
The drinks took forever to come but the food was very good.
Lovely interesting food. Will come again though somewhat pricey. Total bill at £157 is quite a bit more than expected for 3 and for lunch.
Food & service very good and would recommend
In a nutshell, wouldn't recommend this place. Wish I had paid more attention to the bad reviews of this place, but decided to take a gamble which didn't pay off. We left hungry and had to eat out again, despite paying so much!
Service- not a single smile from our waitress the whole time, terrible attitude. I had called ahead of time to ask for a dessert for my cousin's birthday, they ended up giving us a single plate with writing in egg white. We had to take out some cupcakes we had brought from outside in lieu of a dessert, which we were told off for.
Food- good, but TINY portions, not worth the money
Location- good, in Covent Garden
I love Lima Floral and eat there every time I travel to London. The food is always delicious and creative and the atmosphere is just right - hip but not too overdone. The service has really gone downhill lately. I waited for 15 minutes until a waitress showed up. When she did, she didn’t even greet me and just asked what I was going to order. She also recommended that I order way more food than I could consume. I never saw her again. I had to flag another waiter, who acted like he was being taken away from his other tables and was doing me a favor. The time before I brought clients to the restaurant and we ended up waiting for 30 minutes before someone came to take our order. I’m really not sure what has happened but it needs to be fixed.
We have wanted to try Floral for a long time and finally got around to doing so but we were so disappointed. A few of our initial dishes were tasty but as the meal progressed the food got worse. It was totally lacking in taste and generally the food was poor. Apart from one waiter who was lovely, the remaining service was also really poor. Staff acted like it was an effort to take our orders, and it took ages to get drinks at the beginning and throughout the meal. It was very poor value for money given the quality of food.
A charming place for a data or girls night out!
This restaurant is a bit of a hit and miss. Most dishes were very good, but some were either too salty or too acidic. The ambience was good but the music is slightly too loud, so guests have to shout a bit to get heard. The service wasn't very professional: nice guys but we got one set of starters for one person, then nothing for 20mn, and the payment of the bill was a bit of a palaver. Now, this would be OK if it wasn't so expensive. The menu recommends to order 2 starters (at £9 to £12 each!) per person and a main course. Considering the size of the dishes, it is totally unnecessary and expensive. It's a shame, but it wouldn't take much for this restaurant to fix those issues and make it a good experience.
There are much better Peruvian restaurants in London. Ceviche was not flavoured well. Good choice for that area though as not much around.
We had a good meal here, pre theatre. It’s super-conveniently located, in between Covent Garden and Leicester Square. We had a reservation, but at 1745 on a Friday night there were tables available. The service was mostly friendly, with a couple of exceptions, and a tiny bit inefficient, but overall absolutely fine. The food is excellent in places, and good all round. We didn’t have anything we didn’t want to finish, but some dishes were definitely more successful than others. The favourites for us were the sea bass ceviche, the Chinese cauliflower, the beef tartare, and the sweet potato cakes. The four stars are therefore not to be read as a damning review (I HATE that somehow now anything less than 5 stars means not very good), but that it’s a good restaurant, with good food, just not perfection itself. We will look forward to returning.
