Fishworks - Swallow Street
This chic stylish restaurant is only minutes away from the bustle of Piccadilly hidden away in an exclusive street. The whole restaurant opens its glass window façade doors creating a fantastic atmosphere great for corporate dining and enjoying a pre-theatre meal before hitting the West End.
Blackboards display our daily landings or diners can choose from our classic menu with delights such as piled-high fruits de mer, scrumptious South Coast scallops or simply the best gourmet cod and chips you will ever taste!
Jersey oysters served with shallot vinegar and Tabasco
Brixham Fish Soup
Grilled Seafood Platter
Sauted scallop cooked with white wine and garlic butter, topped with breadcrumbs and Pernod, fillet of sea bass, sea bream and chilli ginger prawns. Goes perfectly with Vermentino, Sardinia 10/glass
We had a wonderful meal here coincidentally the night before they had to close because of Tier 3. All the staff were lovely and the food, as usual was exceptional. The wine list too is moderately prices. We will certainly go back there when we are allowed to.
We had a lovely evening at Fishworks Swallow Street. The staff were friendly and attentive and dishes served in good time. The restaurant had a great feel to it, good lighting and nicely laid out.
My only comment is that all of the main courses should come with a choice of at least one side dish.
We would definitely return there.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food and great service. This was our second time here and it didn’t disappoint - looking forward to our next visit already!
Very friendly staff, good menu and superb food (I tried the Bouillabaisse, it was just like in Marseilles!). Excellent wine too and overall good value for money.
Very well balanced place, not too expensive, though food is very good, not too loud, though loud enough to feel comfortable with kids, service was fantastic - quick, friendly, helpful for my family
Lovely place. We had oysters, scallops, fish platter and linguine, all of which were very tasty.
Very good food and nice ambience.Been before and will go again
Service was excellent.
Food was overall good, my husband really enjoyed his fish and chips and my fish platter was good.
Food very good overall: I’m vegetarian and the gnocchi was excellent, although the veggie starter was fairly average. My fellow diner very much enjoyed the oysters and whole sea bass. Side dishes were also good.
Went the first Monday after lockdown ended so it was fairly quiet. Disappointed with the service given there were only half a dozen tables taken: not very attentive at all and the waiter was fairly disinterested - which is not great when you’re paying for a relatively expensive dining experience.
Go to enjoy the food, but not for the overall experience, based on our visit.
Service was very poor
The set menus on Open Table weren’t updated so the one we wanted wasn’t available and there were no mussels on any menus. We ended up getting scallops and Argentinian prawns for starters which were very nice, for mains we both ordered Sea Bass, some of the best fish I’ve ever had, the broccoli side was fantastic too
Despite it being a quiet night, only us and another table, it was quite hard to get the attention of the waiting staff
Would definitely go back, slight shame about the menu issues, made the start of the evening a bit disheartening
Consistently great food and service. Great place and felt very secure in terms of covid precautions.
Lovely food and the wine of the week was very nice! Good service and we felt safe the majority of the time. Occasionally people did get up and go to the toilet area without putting on their masks. Hard for an establishment to see that if they're busy though.
I had the halibut special – absolutely delicious. Pricey, but fundamentally good value for price point. Withheld dairy when asked. Truly delicious food with great service! Will return.
Very nice, far better than the Covent Garden branch, server’s were pleasant, well mannered and knowledgeable, food and wine excellent. Only reason I marked it down a star was that they had ran out of oysters🤦🏻
The menu looked really good but a majority of the menu items were not available, such as oysters. So that was disappointing.
The staff is amazing! I celebrated my boyfriend birthday there and everything was impeccable. !
We enjoyed a very nice socially distanced lunch for two. The ambience felt good and we really enjoyed the food. Very well cooked and very tasty. Fish soup and spicy mackerel were especially good.
Had the fish platter. Good selection but as it comes all at once need to eat the hot ffod first. Hot plate was a bit bland but the rest of the meal was really good. Helpful staff.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff; excellent menu and first rate wine list. It was good to be back!
Food was mostly good with a decent house wine on offer for the week. Lobster had great flavour but was slightly rubbery and possibly over-cooked.
A delightful place for lunch after a visit to the Royal Academy . Excellent value Daily Menu and very pleasant staff Will definitely visit again.
Always enjoy Fish works. It has a pleasant atmosphere and the service is good.
The Fish and chips is to be recommended as it is crunchy and a large portion.
It’s was horrible. The grilled food was served cold and literally without salt or any flavour for that matter. The Seafood was not fresh and lacked flavour immensely. Literally the chef and the team here need to learn to cook. Horrible experience will never recommend anyone to go here. It was a birthday lunch and also mentioned on the notes but sadly nothing was done or mentioned to us like a dessert with happy birthday. I was badly disappointed.
The Taramasalata is tamer than the Greek original. No Atlantic prawn on offer, which is a shame. Lobster is really good, but you have to order a whole one which can be a bit much for some people
A Restaurant That Leaves a Bad Taste in the Mouth
I booked for a Special Seafood Platter lunch for me and a client. Beforehand and on arrival nobody told me they didn't have the fish for the platter. After 15 minutes or so they announced we would have to choose other dishes. Lots of things on the rest of the menu were not available either. I chose whitebait as a starter but no rouille arrived with the dish. When I asked where it was I was told they didn't have any! Mayonnaise? None of that either!
I won't bore you with more, but it was a disaster of incompetence. No manager came to explain or apologise - we felt rather sorry for the very junior member of staff who waited table.
At last, when we asked for the bill, a sort of manager arrived with a card reader. I pointed out that there was supposed to be a £10 reduction off the bill and she said "Oh yes. If you don't ask you don't get"!
So in summary, despite a great-looking menu, they don't have much available. They can't be arsed to say that to the customers. What is left is bland and missing components. They happily overcharge and don't apologise.
An absolute shambles!
If you like fish this is one of the best places to go in London without it costing fortune.
Staff were friendly and efficient. The food was good but I felt the portions were on the small size for the money, eg a small dish of olives, bread on the menu as an extra but only one thin slice, coffee cups on the small side. I think they could have been more generous.
Excellent dinner out. Staff very attentive and did not rush us for the 10pm curfew. Will return
What a brilliant dinner night myself and my partner experienced at FishWorks in Swallow Street. We'll be heading there soon. Thank you for a memorable experience. The food was delightful and both desserts were exceptional.
Mediocre. Good eat
We are seafood lovers who have frequented Fishworks. Never disappointed
Very good seafood and kind staff.
We got fish and chips, grilled salmon and oysters with champagne offer.
Excellent food especially the sea bream and dover sole. Service unobtrusive.
Eaten here several times. Always excellent choice of fresh fish beautifully prepared.
Excellent dinner, the family really enjoyed the meal and the evening.
Very nice atmosphere, service excellent and food really good
Pleasant lunchtime spot very close to the Royal Academy
Took a while for someone to take our orders. Main courses felt very overpriced for the quality of the food.
