In London for a conference and found this place by on line search. Great location, ordered tuna cooked perfectly rare, Dover sole delicious.
Food was decent very fresh and well presented we arrived after 10pm and the atmosphere was good no rushing.
All in all the service and staff were excellent I highly recommend
Very enjoyable evening. Nice ambience, great food and good service
Very good seafood
Great services and very polite from all the staff we encountered.
The food was pretty good but there were a couple of things that marred our experience. Firstly, they brought our mains to the table without having first cleared our starter plates and in fact while one of us was still finishing their starter, making her rush the last few mouthfuls there and then to be able to give her plate to the server and make space on the table for the mains. The server didn't apologise, she just acted if this was completely normal service! Secondly, half way through our meal, it suddenly got really cold, as if the air con had been cranked all the way up (obviously not necessary on a cold winter's day). A different server explained that it was the ventilation from the kitchen and that there was nothing he could do about it other than move us to another table which would only become available in about 30 minutes, by which point we would have almost finished our meal. The cold draft fluctuated for the rest of our time there and according to the server, we were not the first to complain about the cold at that particular table. So overall, good food but not a great overall experience.
Great place for a cosy fish dinner! Pre-theatre menu is a really delicious and for a good value. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful dinner after a trip to the theatre. Such a great variety of food on the menu and excellent wine too. I can highly recommend saving a little room for dessert - the coffee panna cotta is absolutely divine.
Good food and good ambiance. Service very good. very nice
As soon as we entered Staff just glanced at us with no one greeting us to confirm table booking. We waited and were eventually taken to our table.
We ordered our food and drinks. The waitress didn't write anything down. She didn't remember what we ordered and came back to the table to ask again.
After receiving our water and wine, i had to ask 3 times for an Old Fashion and a small Coke. Eventually i received it.
Oysters and Old Fashion were good. The grill was soggy and the chips were not crisp.
We just wanted to leave as quick as possible. Not the best end of day experience.
Found it by accident and realised I was on to something. Now on 2nd visit.
Great service, ambiance and food. It’s actually underrated and should be given better compliments.
Great service, atmosphere and even better food. Chose from the set lunch menu and definitely could not fault it. Very enjoyable.
Pleasant looking restaurant with good service. Chips with the battered cod were disappointing - small portion and looked like the small bits left in the end of the basket.
The food and wine was lovely and the service was excellent. I can’t wait to go back.
The menu is large, as is the restaurant, and the food is good, but the fish was a bit overcooked, probably due to the large volume and press of pre-theatre crowds. Service was very good and mindful of theatre deadlines. Value for pre-theatre menu is good. A safe choice, but not memorable.
We dined on a Saturday evening in the pre-theatre time, so the restaurant was incredibly busy. The staff were working non-stop but couldn't get to all the diners in a reasonable time so it was a long wait for service and food. It calmed down a lot when the theatre-goers left but the restaurant could do with more resource at the busy time.
The starters and desserts were lovely, the main of sea bream fillet was rather small and the cucumber, chilli and mint salad was disappointing however the mackerel main was beautifully cooked and spiced.
The pre-theatre menu is really good value and I would go to a Fishworks again but allowing plenty of time if I had a show to get to.
This is a lovely restaurant with good food but the service is glacial. We were sat in the basement. Saturday night, generally only one very hard working, stressed waitress who was fighting a losing battle on her own whilst everyone complained to her. If I was her I would have hung up my apron and walked out. Arrived at 5.30 and left ar7.15 having only just eaten our main course.
Would be a nice place to eat if they staffed it properly.
The first course, a shared Frito misty was very good. The moules which followed were overcooked and not
hot. The Dover sole was tasty but too salty.
Service was haphazard. We had to ask for our starter plate to be removed and the waiter seemed surprised to be asked.
I have been to the Swallow St. branch a few times and it has always been very good.
Nice pre theatre meal - the service was a bit slow and they forgot the desserts for a while so we had to gulp these down to make sure we got to the show on time. Nice seafood menu but portions quite small.
Really nice restaurant - no problems at all. Lovely food and drink, excellent service, nice atmosphere for a party or for a quieter catch up with a friend, for a date - perfect location for so many other things nearby. A little pricey but for the quality and location, overall excellent value.
Nice ambiance, good service, great location. Main course was OK, avoid the desert.
Have eaten at other Fishworks several times, so tried this new venue and opted for the set lunch. I had the fish and chips (non set lunch) which is normally fantastic, but this was a tail end and a bit meagre... similar experience with the starter. So wasn't impressed with the food. Staff were good and the venue is nice....
Food an drink were very good but restaurant was empty.
A lovely find. Excellent service from charming and attentive staff. Has a very 'upmarket' feel with a very reasonably-priced menu. Would highly recommend.
The oysters were terrific!
Nice place, nice food and good service but it was my mum birthday and I mentioned it when I did my reservation so I was expecting a little attention, even a simple birthday candle.
A family meal. Very impressed that I was remembered from a previous visit some three months prior to this. Taramasalata as good as ever ditto the fritto misto The albarinho was as. Good as their previous Mar dad Frades. Altogether a fine occasion
Food v good
Wine expensive
Good all round
Pleasant welcome, good food and the pre-theatre menu is good value. Pity it is so noisy - the refurb of the restaurant has added more hard surfaces and the noise ricochets around - impossible for our elderly guest
Super experience in food, vines and service- we will be back next time we are in London
Catch up with family, great food and service
great food great service good location - it is not the first time we are eating at fishworks various branches and it is always great. great seafood restaurant
Food excellent service great We had 2 course set menu very good value Food piping hot
Only downside we sat downstairs it was uncomfortably hot
Our fourth visit, this time to celebrate a birthday with a pre-theater meal. Served again by our (now) usual waiter, Mr. P, to excellence. We always start with a round of oysters, which have never disappointed. Really nice wine options to pair with a well-rounded selection of entrees. Just a stone's throw from our favorite theater, or a stroll through Covent Garden. Always a pleasure. Naturally, will be returning. Thank you.
I am Fishworks regular but this was my first trip to Covent Garden. We were going to the Opera so had an early dinner. The food was exceptional. Towards the end three service was a bit iff- only one person on duty but really everything else was so good we couldn't complain. We ate A la Carte and everything was executed to perfection. Will come again.
Great value food pre theatre. Although the waiter was fantastic, the starters took a very long time to come out.
Ask to be seated in the main restaurant, not on the top tier. Often felt like we got forgotten about which was a shame as when the server did come they were great. Perhaps short staffed on the day we were there. Food was great and the 2 course meal very reasonable!
Wonderful lunch here for my mum's birthday, scallops were delicious, as was the fish and chips! Would definitely return.
Usually very reliable but staff were not attentive and even tried to bill me for items that I had ordered initially but were unavailable. Very sloppy on this occasion. Fish on this case was average and the espresso pannocotta too sweet
