Meat
Firepit at The Paper Mill is all about cooking with fire. Specialising in wood-fired and
charcoal-grilled meat and seafood, Firepit is casual dining at its finest in a stunningly
restored heritage space. Premium-quality meat, fresh market seafood and locally-sourced
vegetables are cooked by our pit masters over fire, on the vertical grill, or in one of two
custom-built wood-fired ovens.
Starters include Sheep’s milk saganaki, pan-fried with honey, lemon and ouzo, Wagyu
tartare, Blue swimmer crab salad. Main courses showcase grass and grain fed beef grilled to
order over the coals, a selection of ribs and the famous snapper schnitty. Add a generous
array of sides for a memorable feast.

Service was really slow. These seem to be plenty of staff, and not many tables occupied but still took ages for the food to arrive. The waiter did not warn my friend that her plate was hot and she burned her finger. We weren't given jugs of water just refills whenever they remembered. 2 of my friends could not taste the garlic in the garlic prawns.

I cannot recommend Fire Pit enough! When we arrived we were treated to free valet parking, which was very convenient as there is not a lot of street parking. Requesting the car when we left was a very quick and easy process.
The food was amazing, so tasty and presented beautifully. We thought it was very good value for money, the portion sizes were generous and filling. The wait staff were very friendly and bubbly, nothing was a problem.
We will definitely be back, the private function rooms caught our eye with their beautiful presentation, it will be a great place for our company events. Thank you!

Order taken for drinks and starters
Starters come before drinks...then a salad and mains ordered and then drinks and mains come without the salad which for some unknown reason Goto another table...food was good but this place is under staffed or they just don't know what's going on...real disappointment because it's a beautiful place oh and parking is real trouble too.

Although it was a great night I was disappointed when my $90 Lobster tails dish arrived to resemble Moreton Bay bugs. They tasted great but was not what I was expecting based on the menu description or the price. We also were left parched when no table water was left at the table to compliment our cocktails and meals, we had to ask for water refills.

Free valet parking really got the experience off to a fantastic start. Menu was lacking kids options so you're limited to hot chips for kids, wait staff didn't give any options... but for the adults, the steak and queensland snapper schnitzel was cooked to perfection, hats off to the chef. Overall a lovely atmosphere and decor. The only hiccup which we weren't expecting was the pressure from staff to give a hefty tip on a bill that was already $148 for two adults and one child, this was only for focaccia entree, two main meals, 2 sides of hot chips, one beer, one wine and one apple juice . As it's not customary to give tips in Australia this felt awkward and embarrassing, and to be honest, the table service, while prompt, wasn't exactly award winning to justify the pressure of a $12 tip considering we were only there for half an hour. No one came to check if the meal was ok or if we needed extra drinks, or if we'd like dessert and coffee.

Excellent dining experience, great atmosphere, not too noisy, fresh, open and not overly crowded. Amazing food, a touch pricey but all worth it, fabulous service from smiling helpful staff. Easy transaction, and decision. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic venue, a restaurant within a restaurant. The vibe from the staff was very positive, it must be a good place to work! The interior ambience was spot on with the rustic appearance of the original paper mill well maintained amongst and behind the modern adaptations to create a fun contrasting style without being as fake as most - this was a genuine paper mill in its past life! Highly recommended.

We ordered lamb rack and snapper snitty. Lamb was so hard and chewy. Snapper had an after taste like it had either gone off or close to. It lasted like dried fish. Reported this to the waiter who appeared concerned and went to the kitchen to check. After that all we received for the final bill with no explanation about the horrible tasting fish which we had to leave half eaten. Paid the bill and decided never to visit the place again. Will pass on the feedback to our friends too.

Our waiter for the night was lovely and very attentive, staff were great. However, felt like we were in a walkway for the other casual dining areas, which we actually were! When you are paying the prices that Firepit charge it should be more contained rather than the foodhall feel with large groups of people standing around your table saying their goodbyes to each other.

Decor very good with nice vibe. Menu was good but food generally disappointing. My friend's paella was terrible, the gnocchi had a great mushroom sauce but the gnocchi was really tough. The Angus Eye Fillter was well cooked and probably best meal on the table. Pasta Marinara was just okay. One of the waiters was very good but he was busy organising other wait staff that were not very well trained, so if we wanted anything we had to signal a waitress. Bit expensive for what we received. Would definitely go back to the Paper Mill for more casual dining, pizzas, coffee etc. but not keen on going back to Fire Pit.

Things seemed very unorganised , maybe too big to have good control over things ??
Food came out all over the place , 1 entree came out before the kids meals
We ordered 15 minutes before the entrees ?
Then received 1 kids meal ... waited for the 2 Nd , then again waited another 15 for the second entree . Was very annoying
Food wasn’t that great. The sauce in the mussels tasted like a lot of garlic had been burnt in there , it was strange .
Place looks nice but that’s about it

Food was nice. Service needs drastic improvement.
Got our entree and drinks quickly. Waited 1 hour and then flagged down a waiter asking about our mains (during that time noone checked on our table or asked if we wanted more drinks - we did). Waiter went to kitchen to check on meals then never returned to our table to give an update. Finally another waiter checked on us, found out what was happening and gave an update (thats what u should do in service industry). Also gave us a couple free drinks.
When food finally arrived it was tasty.
You expect much better service at any restaurant but in particular if you are paying $200 for dinner for two (1 entree, 2 drinks, 2 mains and 2 sides)

Looks pretty cool. Unfortunately there is ZERO parking in the area aside from ~20 on street car spaces which are taken up by the residents of the nearby apartments. Food took a really long time to come out as well. We only ordered an entree and two mains and it was around 40 mins for the entree to come out followed by another 30 mins for the main. They weren't even that busy when we arrived. Duck fat roasted potatoes were more like baton shaped hash browns and WAY too salty. Overall the venue looks really cute and if they pick up their game with the wait time and salt I'd go again.

The fire pit buffet choice was tasty, although the protein portion was extremely small. The was one small piece of meat to share between 5 people and 1 extremely small rack of ribs that consisted of 7 ribs only.

The waiter was attentive without being intrusive the venue was very pleasing but the food was the highlight. Highly recommend the pork ribs. Wasn’t shocked by the bill. We have needed a something like this here for a long time.
