Firedoor
The service was slow and the ambiance wasn’t as warm as it could have been. Friendly enough. The food was lovely.
We would like to compliment the wait staff they were very good extremely friendly and helpful The food we enjoyed however we expected something outstanding for the price
This was our first stop in Sydney for lunch! After a long flight, this meal was the high point of our entire trip! The ambiance, atmosphere, food, and service were unbelievable. We tried several carafes of wine and the chefs menu for lunch! This is a MUST if visiting Sydney and you would like an exciting and beautiful dining experience!
Great steak ($200) and lovely bottle of Etna rossa. Marron ($65) was under and very small. Brussel sprout salad ($16) was average. Probably wouldn’t go back again, but was nice to try.
The chefs menu was so good. the food is outstanding. better in a group where you can try many things.
Amazing food and great service. we will be back for more tasty food.
Excellent food... well presented and beautifully cooked. Thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant. 🍸🥂👍
Awesome experience
This is my favourite restaurant in Sydney.
The food is consistently amazing. Straight forward flavours showcase the technique, the freshness and the quality of the ingredients.
Nice meal, good food and high quality - chef clearly knows their flavours! Quite expensive and service a little too much at times. Would return.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Simply superb in every respect.
Firedoor came recommended with the caveat that it was expensive. Knowing that we went ahead. The food is interesting, not great. The portions are insultingly small given the price. Plating and service was nothing special. I can’t see how this place will survive because it feels like a ripoff.
We had the tasting menu and some of the dishes were a standout, and surprisingly it was some of the simpler sounding dishes that were really tasty (such as the bread!) We all tried the marron and one of the signature steaks - good, but were they worth the extra cost? Maybe, and we didn't want to leave not having tried it all! The wines were fantastic too, and the sommelier was very helpful in giving us 3 to choose from with good descriptions. Recommended, but just be aware of your budget before you go.
Pure brilliance. One of those restaurants that will stay with you long after your leave, mainly due to sheer quality of food and service. It’s expensive but it’s absolutely worth it. And the staff here are just amazing - they remind you what “hospitality” is all about. Well done, Team Firedoor!
An exceptional restaurant with a novel and exciting approach to food preparation. Delicious! Plus exceptional service. Altogether a truly memorable experience.
This was an excellent experience and I highly recommend Firedoor!
The waitress Angelic has extensive knowledge about all the food dishes and served us with a smile!!
Fancy fine-dine yet casual setting. Food presentation is excellent however slight disappointment when the menu of the day did not match the one on their website. Was looking to try the dry-aged beef however the extras were for a couple instead in which could be too much for the both of us. We got the ala-carte choices instead. Might pop by just to try the dry-aged someday to see how different it is compared to normal 30-day beef.
Top 5 in Sydney
Brilliant concept. Great food. Toby s wine knowledge was a great help.
One of my new favourites in Sydney. The food is very impressive and extremely high quality. Not cheap but perfect for a special occasion
Fantastic restaurant, if dining as a couple, ask to sit at the bar to experience first hand the theatre of the kitchen. Degustation menu is very good. The steak is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. Spoil yourself!
Superb meal. The best we had in Sydney and one of the best we have had in a long time.
Food was good, but the steak was too rough to eat it
I was so underwhelmed. Two sittings . Food was pathetic. Over seasoned and too cool for school . I don’t mind cool but you have to do it well . We all laughed and said never again . Heard so much and delivered below average. It was embarrassing. Wine list so bad . I just can’t put into enough words what the 4 of us really thought of it. The price was crazy for the food that you got . The biggest rip off for average food in Sydney
Need to be selective with menu choices
This was a better experience than previously due to better selections
Quality food and service
One of the best meals we've had this year, without doubt.
Inventive cuisine, well presented and excellent quality.
Nice interiors, friendly service. The steak was so succulent and tasted like butter. Nice experience but very pricey.
Theatrical in the best sense of the word, without detracting from the superb food which is beautifully selected and prepared.
The service at Firedoor was excellent. They made helpful suggestions and ensured I could enjoy the dining experience by catering to my dietary requirements but while still experiencing the dishes. Sitting up at the bar overlooking the kitchen was cool but the noise from the meat saw was pretty intense. All the food was great but there was the odd bit on each dish which didn't seem to have any flavour. The bread and butter with smoked rye was unreal. Recommended for a couple not in a group.
FIredoor lived up to its reputation as a great dining experience. Friendly and helpful staff, a great selection of wood fired food, many gluten free options (great for me as a coeliac) and a very nice fitout. Highly recommended.
I absolutely love the food at Firedoor. The name would imply that there is mostly meat (and there is plenty of that) but what Lennox Hastie can do with vegetables and fire makes my heart beat faster.
He is a true master of his craft.
Oustanging recommebdation from Charlie at Atlad Dining. Lennox, Fraser and the guys servedvsuperb food in a great atmosphere. Highly recommend it
We had the set menu which I thought was very reasonable for the price. All the food was very lightly cooked which is not how I would usually eat some dishes (particularly meat) but it was beautifully cooked and delicate and the lightness brought out the flavours in all the ingredients.
Lovely setting.
Great bread but I'm afraid that's about it!!!
Shared food is a great idea but the portion sizes are miniscule and the price hefty for what it is.
If the dishes were spicy or tasty rather than bland, it would have been a different review.
Sorry but you have some work to do to live up to the price tag.
I left very disappointed and wouldn't recommend to any friends to dine here unfortunately, which is a great shame as I had wanted to dine her for a long time, but the very extensive wait times for food wasn't ideal.
My table of 4 all ordered individual dishes not to be shared, we was informed the the was designed to be shared, but with the venue only being half full I feel there could have been a little bit of consideration, we sat at 6.30pm and received our mains at 8.50pm.
Phenomenal as usual. Absolutely cannot go wrong with the food served here. The service was as excellent as always and the wine was on point too. Nothing to fault. Our current fave.
Fantastic meal, great service!
Nice for something different but ridiculously overpriced for a restaurant without a view.
Best of everything.. an experienced chef creating incredible tastings. Atmosphere alone makes this restaurant a hot fave.
Great seafood asadeo...apart from the elegant aged wagyu this place is developing quite a reputation for its brilliant treatment of seafood like pemberton marron from wa and shark bay snapper. .loved it..nicely done on the coals washed down with a lovely semillon
