Fin & Brew
Bait and Switch. Shame on you open table. I made a reservation for Fin and Brew. I wanted to have an elegant dinner with my wife for our 39th wedding anniversary. When we arrived we found out that Fin and Brew wasn't even open. Our table was actually at River Outpost. So instead of a nice dinner, we ended up eating on an outside patio, very hot and extremely humid. The food was nothing more than OVERPRICED snacks, and cocktails and wine out of Dixie cups, The only thing that lived up to my expectation was the beer I ordered. It was a Corona, in a can, they gave me a plastic cup, but it was good and cold. Not only will I not go back, I won't ever use open table again.
Ambience. View. Beers. Service. All amazing. Happy to be out again.
I was meeting friends I hadn't seen in a while and my big concern was that they would adhere to their 2 hour dining limit. Luckily that was not a problem.
However... I have to say how tired I am of these waterfront restaurants hiking up their prices because they have a view. I felt the prices were high for the quality of the food and drinks we had. There were 4 of us and we left a lot of money at the table, but didn't even have dinner. The plates were small and more like appetizers and I'm not a big eater...
The best part of the evening, besides my company, was the server: Dylan. She was so great to us and if we decide to return (had hoped to find a place to get together at once a month) we will definitely ask for Dylan every time.
Perhaps dinner elsewhere and hang there for drinks...
O, they didn't have any music playing...(insert boring emoji)
Always a great time at the River Outpost Brewery!! Service Staff fantastic!! Good food Good drinks!!
They have definitely made the appropriate adjustments in response to COVID. Service was great! Will definitely be back!
So happy to be out after 4 months of isolation. Fin & Brew hit the spot with their good service and great food and drinks!
So this was not Fin and Brew, not sure what it's listed as that. Fin and Brew is still closed. This is River Outpost. So I can't review Fin and Brew.
Food options are too bland. They’re basic and the flavors fall short
We had a good experience. Food was good, service excellent. Setting is really nice and tables are widely spaced so we were comfortable. Only caveat is the sun got really hot and the umbrella was inadequate but not their fault. Will return when weather cools a bit.
Overall staff took proper precautions. Food and service was good. Only outside dining so noise was not an issue during our afternoon visit.
Hands down the best food in the Hudson area. The service was excellent and the menu is seasonal! There is a quiet and more intimate restaurant style setting on the 2nd floor. And there is a more casual outdoor seating and bar area on the ground floor, sometimes with live music. Both areas have gorgeous views of the Hudson river and Bear mountain, especially around sunset.
Went after quarantine for their outdoor seating expecting a nice date experience with good food. The food wasn't great and I felt like I was on Spring break. There was an AWFUL DJ that was way too loud and unnecessary. If you want a bar experience and no real food this is the place for you right now. Again to be clear we all love fin and Brew and are usual customers, their current outside seating for Covid is not that experience.
Food was good. Did not care for french fries. They tasted old. Will only retur when Fin and Brew opens upstairs with the old menu.
An enjoyable socially distanced dining experience made even better by a super-attentive waitress named Felicia. Well done River Outpost, we will be back!
Great spot on the river with fabulous views from outdoor patio. Excellent food -- try the steamed 1/2 lobster as a starter. Great beer from the onsite brewery. Friendly and professional service.
This was a bait & switch. I reserved on Fin & Brew's website because it said they have outdoor seating---- they are STILL CLOSED & A DIFFERENT PLACE WAS OPEN WITH OUTDOOR SEATING THAT WAS AWARE OF MY RESERVATIONS. A staff member even said "Fin & Brew is more upscale than we are but they're closed"
This felt like a dishonest bait & switch. I doubt that I'll return
I absolutely would not recommend this. I went from anticipating decent seafood down to a pullled pork sandwich instead... sucked
A very comfortable setting. We were so grateful for a bit of Normalcy
Service excellent. Food was very good. Would recommend to friends.
Great pub style food ... the lobster sandwich was amazing !
Fun atmosphere- sat outside under umbrella
Well thought out for COVID - virtually touchless
Service was good and staff is friendly
Fun, sunny, kid friendly place. Enjoyed the view was terrific.
Fans of Fin & Brew beware... during outdoor-only Phase 2 reopening things here on my night skewed younger and rowdier, with sister spot River Outpost Brewery taking over completely. This meant more of an "off-the-Strip Vegas pool party" vibe, with stir-crazy kids (understandably) getting bent with their friends. But it would have been nice for the business to make apparent during the reservation process that Fin & Brew deck and menu weren't happening, and that instead I'd be carded at the door (!) and sat 20 feet from a blaring DJ booth. Plus the service was SUPER-slow, as clearly there weren't enough servers to handle the crowd. This was a total, total bust. Guess maybe I've aged out of this joint—and I'm only 39!
A bit over priced on the entrees. What you really pay for is the opportunity to dine outdoors with a beautiful view. Food could use more flavors and maybe some background music with be nice. Also, they ran out of lobster dishes by 4pm. Worst part was waitress by the name of Hook B kept taking her mask off to speak which made me extremely uncomfortable being that we choose the place for Covid safety. I even saw her touch a male patron’s arm before bringing my bill.
First time trying this place and using Open Table to make a reservation. Host was polite, security guard had a good sense of humor and very polite, server was extremely nice, knew his job well and constantly checked to see if there was anything we needed. Food came out quickly and was delicious!
The staff was very mindful of following the pandemic procedures. Food and atmosphere wonderful. We just discovered Factoria; it's our new favorite place!
Great atmosphere and beautiful view of the hudson river. The food is also very tasty and well prepared!
Great to see how they are adapting to covid guidelines
Wonderful seafood dishes and amazing water view
Great view and great food , service was little slow . Will be back in warmer months to sit outside and enjoy raw bar and cocktails
Everything was delicious start to finish. The bartenders were friendly, the chef came out to check on us. Highly recommend the mussels, shrimp cocktail and any cocktail on the list. Can’t wait to go back
We had an amazing dinner. The food from the appetizers to the main courses were wonderful. Delicious, generous! And the service was above and beyond! Our waitress Kerry was the best! Fun, great suggestions, really all around great.
A very good local restaurant with a very nice, casual atmosphere, consistantly very good food and typically good service. Not so much on the service this go-around. Our server was snippy', and actually caught herself at one point getting rude with one of our friends..
She was very unattentive, served my broth with no spoon than disappeared for 20 minutes. Everyone has a bad night and we will write this one off on her behalf. Unfortunately is was not a good first impression for our guests and they will likely not be returning here nor recommending the restaurant to others.
Great atmosphere and ambience but not too kid friendly .
Excellent fresh imaginative food
Great venue food was enjoying but way too small for what they charge
When visiting the area over Presidents Day Weekend, my friend's mother wanted to bring us to Fin & Brew. She has been before, and has some favorite items on the menu, so we made a reservation for Sunday night (the 16th). Unfortunately, when we sat down, we were presented with a Valentine's Weekend, five course menu - not what we had in mind. We were assured that we could order whatever we wanted off that menu, we don't need to order five courses, but that the portions are smaller. Since the items we were anticipating were not there, we decided to leave, and may return another time.
Having worked in the service industry, we know that restaurants often offer a special (and more expensive) menu for certain holidays like New Year's and Valentine's, so if we had gone on Friday the 14th, we wouldn't have been surprised or disappointed. When seated, we were told they "wanted this special menu to be available for those who couldn't make it out on Valentines Day." Being expected to pay out for a Valentines special two days later is a bit much.
Maybe we would've been made aware of the change if we had reserved by phone - I hope so. I can't comment on the quality of the food, which I've heard is very good, but this business and marketing approach didn't sit well with us.
I was very excited to bring my family there. However, we were presented with the Valentines Day menu even though it was 2 days past Valentines Day. This menu had very unappealing selections at a cost of $65 per person. A 4-course dinner that didn’t include a salad? The first course was hummus. Just hummus. We did not even have the option of ordering off the regular dinner menu. We did not stay. So extremely disappointing!!! Not sure I’ll try again.
Terrible choice of music and much too loud. We asked the waiter to lower the volume. He promised to do so but did not. It got worse when a loud wedding began in the adjacent room. This was not made known to us when we made our reservation. It was positively maddening listening to loud music from two sources while trying to converse with loved ones.
Not a bad meal, but overpriced for the quality. Would go again, but not for an event prix fixe menu.
A bit cold wind was blowing in from down stairs. Lighting was too dark / couldn’t read the menus nor see the food I was about to enjoy
Was great!! We got there early and were sorted right away, we had our baby with us, they were kind enough to seat us by the window, awesome view .. food was good, creative and well seasoned. Ambiance was great, friendly service.
