The food, service and overall venue were great.
The significant downside was that it was a cold June night in Melbourne and the heating did not work. When we asked for the heating to be turned up, the waitress advised us that it had been broken for 2 years and that it was cold in Winter and boiling hot in summer.
We all sat with our coats on during the entire meal and it was still cold and uncomfortable. We would have left but there were 10 of us.
Also, the coffee machine was broken (and had been for a month) so no coffees. The men's toilets were also broken and two were cordoned off.

They need to spend the money to fix the broken things as this detracts from the experience.

Can't comment on the food as we left before ordering. This place was so noisy we couldn't hear ourselves think. Don't come here if you want to talk to the people you are with.

I've always loved Fathers Office and took family friends because (i thought) i knew it was a fail safe, awesome place!! But the music was just soo loud we couldnt hear each other speak!! I had to shout to speak to the next sitting next to me, at a restaurant. I went for a nice dining experience with friends who are 50+ years old. Instead we scoffed our food (which was delicious as it always is) and left asap so we could catch up, which was the whole point of the occasion.

Great service and an easy lunch menu that can fit most dietary requirements. Very noisy when it's a full house in the group bookings area, so something to keep in mind depending on the crowd. An in easy in and out lunch for a big group.

Service was really slow. They looked busy and under staffed. Waited over 45 mind for our desert and when it arrived it was plonked on the plate and had no taste atall. Definitely just a frozen desert defrosted.

Ate here with a group of 10 people. Food was nice but most dishes were cold. Timing of food was quite poor. Some mains came out before the starters. Otherwise no issues. Good atmosphere, friendly staff.

Met up with friends from out of town and the first place I could think of to show them a wonderful dinner, at the heart of the CBD was Father's Office. We sat in the restaurant, and while the music from the bar bleesd through to the restaurant, it added a level of ambient fun and easy going to the whole night. The food is brilliant, and the cocktail range is great fun to work your way down, one at time! Father's Office is one of my favourite spots in the CBD. Note: if you rock up just after business hours, be prepared for a busy, vibrant community inside! If you prefer a quieter time, try a little later in the evening or even a lunch sitting/visit!

Service was despicable, right from entry we were greeted as though the staff were too busy to seat and feed us, the place was extremely quiet. Asked for drinks and if we need to order at the bar and was told it was full table service and they would take our order, that was 15 minutes later!! Meals and drinks were ordered but one side meal forgotten. No more drinks were offered and side was eventually ordered but took another 20 minutes, we were leaving when it arrived. Received bill that included the side, waitress couldn’t find manager to amend bill, she ‘fixed it’ and lied about amending it, asked me for the same total and was embarrassed when I asked for a second receipt, to which she immediately said sorry I must have charged it wrong. I stated she just rang up the same account a second time to which she then disputed!! I explained I just saw her do it and she just gave me the disputed amount in cash.. Never will I enter this place again, I have not received this sort of disgusting customer service anywhere..

My family and I had the $20 lunch special which was great value and included an alcoholic drink. I had fish and chips, not a huge serve, but plenty for me and the chips were tasty. My family both had steak and were very happy with it. The house shiraz was a winner.

A very disappointing night at Fathers Office. The wait staff advised us that they were unable to serve drinks during happy hour 5-7pm due to an impromptu Health Inspection. This went on for 45mins where we sat there dry with our dinner. This charade continued on where the wait staff then advised it’ll be another 10-15mins where they can open the bar and only until then they will take our order. It came to the point where we were fed up, asked for the bill and moved on to another venue. There was no remorse from the wait staff or suggestions to remediate the poor service. Never coming here again!

Not all that impressed with the standard of the food at Father's Office. The fish & chips was very small and pretty tired. Other meals - like the calamari - were fairly uninspiring, with many accompanied by a bizarre purple sauce. The majority of us felt like the standard of food overall has dropped, certainly since the last time I ate here.

Abit over hyped.
Found my burger cold.
My cold drink (even though it was just plain diet coke) had no fizz at all. Looks like the soda mixer had some issues.
Overall just an okey place.

I would like to preface by saying I have only been once, I would actually try again. Good for larger groups. The food was ok, plenty of options & a $20 lunch menu is good, couldn't recommend the cinnamon calamari (got it for novelty factor), the arrancini balls were pretty tasty, & everyone agreed the salads/vego options were good. Price was average for melb. Noise wise I can see what the reviews are saying but most restaurants I find you can't hear one another at peak dining times. But I was most disappointed by the decor/ambience. It just didn't meet my expectations. Although the waitress was nice & dressed up in a sparkly flapper dress I felt like she was the only one, we sat on plastic chairs with plastic cups, the wallpapered book shelf at the stairs seemed a wasted opportunity, & I honestly felt like it was more tacky than authentic. I've seen it done better. The location is good, nice views although direct sunlight at lunch meant sitting far away from the big windows. All the best!

I choose Fathers Office due to the fact it has so many positive reviews from Coeliacs. I was not disappointed. I love cheeseburgers so I choose the American Double Cheeseburger. We had an entrée of Nachos which were very tasty. Could not fault the wait staff as they were run off their feet as the place is very popular. When in Melbourne I will definitely eat here again.

We had the $20 lunch special. The steak was a $20 steak, I asked for no sides (Paleo) but meal was served with chips and sauce, not a big deal, just not what I asked for. Overall worth it.

So loud we had to yell to have a conversation. The service was atrocious and the other diners were also looking around for service and waving down staff. There were plenty of tables available yet we were seated side by side all the other diners packed in so close I could touch them. Food was dry and not made how I asked due to food intolerances, lucky I wasn’t allergic. Picked a part my food because we didn’t want to wait for them to remake after waiting so long to be served in the first place. . Definitely gone down hill in the last couple of years and won’t be returning

The reality of the experience at this restaurant/bar unfortunately doesn't match the description on their website. Went here on a Saturday night for dinner with a small group of friends. Unfortunately there was a large group of drunk young guys who were swearing, groping women, drinking out of the punch bowls and disturbing all diners. We could not enjoy the food or experience and left as soon as we could after receiving our food. The food was average. Perhaps this place started out as something different but it appears to now just accept the uni crowd to the detriment of all other diners. Would not recommend to friends or return.

Cheaper option where food is a reflection of the prices (most good, some meh), beer a little pricey in comparison, volume is what lets this place down. For the type of establishment it appears to be, the nightclub decibel levels were just weird. Especially for a 12pm lunch.
Great venue if you're just after a place to meet up with the boys. Food and drinks won't disappoint.
Not so much if conversation is going to be a focal point of the visit.
