Not all that impressed with the standard of the food at Father's Office. The fish & chips was very small and pretty tired. Other meals - like the calamari - were fairly uninspiring, with many accompanied by a bizarre purple sauce. The majority of us felt like the standard of food overall has dropped, certainly since the last time I ate here.

Abit over hyped.
Found my burger cold.
My cold drink (even though it was just plain diet coke) had no fizz at all. Looks like the soda mixer had some issues.
Overall just an okey place.

I would like to preface by saying I have only been once, I would actually try again. Good for larger groups. The food was ok, plenty of options & a $20 lunch menu is good, couldn't recommend the cinnamon calamari (got it for novelty factor), the arrancini balls were pretty tasty, & everyone agreed the salads/vego options were good. Price was average for melb. Noise wise I can see what the reviews are saying but most restaurants I find you can't hear one another at peak dining times. But I was most disappointed by the decor/ambience. It just didn't meet my expectations. Although the waitress was nice & dressed up in a sparkly flapper dress I felt like she was the only one, we sat on plastic chairs with plastic cups, the wallpapered book shelf at the stairs seemed a wasted opportunity, & I honestly felt like it was more tacky than authentic. I've seen it done better. The location is good, nice views although direct sunlight at lunch meant sitting far away from the big windows. All the best!

I choose Fathers Office due to the fact it has so many positive reviews from Coeliacs. I was not disappointed. I love cheeseburgers so I choose the American Double Cheeseburger. We had an entrée of Nachos which were very tasty. Could not fault the wait staff as they were run off their feet as the place is very popular. When in Melbourne I will definitely eat here again.

We had the $20 lunch special. The steak was a $20 steak, I asked for no sides (Paleo) but meal was served with chips and sauce, not a big deal, just not what I asked for. Overall worth it.

So loud we had to yell to have a conversation. The service was atrocious and the other diners were also looking around for service and waving down staff. There were plenty of tables available yet we were seated side by side all the other diners packed in so close I could touch them. Food was dry and not made how I asked due to food intolerances, lucky I wasn’t allergic. Picked a part my food because we didn’t want to wait for them to remake after waiting so long to be served in the first place. . Definitely gone down hill in the last couple of years and won’t be returning

The reality of the experience at this restaurant/bar unfortunately doesn't match the description on their website. Went here on a Saturday night for dinner with a small group of friends. Unfortunately there was a large group of drunk young guys who were swearing, groping women, drinking out of the punch bowls and disturbing all diners. We could not enjoy the food or experience and left as soon as we could after receiving our food. The food was average. Perhaps this place started out as something different but it appears to now just accept the uni crowd to the detriment of all other diners. Would not recommend to friends or return.

Visited with my sister visiting from interstate - fantastic food, even with dietary requirements for both of us. There is a lift too, if needed for access, though we only discovered this after we managed to get up the stairs.

Cheaper option where food is a reflection of the prices (most good, some meh), beer a little pricey in comparison, volume is what lets this place down. For the type of establishment it appears to be, the nightclub decibel levels were just weird. Especially for a 12pm lunch.
Great venue if you're just after a place to meet up with the boys. Food and drinks won't disappoint.
Not so much if conversation is going to be a focal point of the visit.

We loved our evening at Father's Office even though they had run out of lamb at 7.30 on a Saturday night. We chose different items from the menu and the food was delicious, well prepared and looked great on the plate. It turned out to be a fantastic meal....will have lamb next time!

Absolutely love Father’s Office. Great atmosphere, the staff are friendly and the food is fantastic and creative without being pretentious. My only comment for our Saturday night meal was that the music was a little bit loud to hold a conversation with people sitting across the table from you. Besides that I couldn’t fault the place. Well done guys!

Their pork dishes and the steaks are amazing. I highly recommend them. However the lamb cutlet was bit too nutty.
Quick and friendly service also deserves a praise. Also good place for vegetarian and people who need gluten-free diet.

Fantastic find within walking distance of theatres. We had a family member with coeliac disease and the range of food she was able to choose from was astounding (and what she had was delicious - first burger in four years!) Food came out really fast. Only drawback was that it was extremely hot in there (was 42 degrees outside), they did have a large portable airconditioner blowing at full speed and fans, but it's a big space and still was very hot.

It was fine. The food menu is not health friendly. Very loud on a Friday night. Our request on our booking on open table wasn't known, don't bother booking on there. It is not a speakeasy but a regular pub. Friendly staff. Alright food. Nothing special

Reviews and menu looked promising but the actual quality of the food was disappointing.

Service was good.

The place looked more like a beer joint where you could come with friends and drink and have fun. For that with bar food it might be fine.

We had a group of 17 people dine here and not one of them were satisfied with the food. We all purchased the set menu which on paper looked fantastic but when the food arrived we were greatly let down. The general concsesis was the man burger was so dry no one finished it. The only good thing about the Duo pork board was the pulled pork the other half of the duo being some pork crackling and cubes of roasted pork were soo dry and flavourless. The only up side may have been the starters like the chicken wings, calamari rings and pork belly wich were very nice, the only thing is that there was not enough for the group. The beer was also flat, some of there cocktails were enjoyable but not worth it to order.

The food was great taste wise however mine wasn't hot when it came out and the chips had gone a bit soggy (chicken poutine). Friends were very happy with their meals, no complaints. The waiters were lovely and helpful, especially the young guy with a moustache. Mojito was fantastic. Best mojito in Melbourne! Music was a bit too loud but understand that's the kind of place it is. Overall would like to come back and try more of the menu but maybe on a quieter night or afternoon.

The dining area was somewhat loud as it was right next to the bar area, but the decor was nice. The food was somewhat disappointing. I had lamb cutlets coated in a pistachio and sesame crust, but was disappointed to find the crust made up most of the meal with little meat. The accompanying mash potatoes were also a little dry. My girlfriend had a salmon salad, onion rings, and cocktail which she quite enjoyed.

My Sydney-based manager wanted to have a team lunch on January 2. I knew it would be tricky finding a place in Melbourne's CBD that was open so soon after the holidays and not overflowing with tourists. I knew Fathers Office had impressed previous teams so I quickly booked. The staff was very accommodating with an increase in our group size and the overall review from the team was "WOW!". Seriously, people loved the selections of the quick lunch and the value, not to mention the taste. So thank you!
My only criticism would be the sides and sauces. One of my workmates mentioned how she'd prefer more slaw on her burger. Another, who was unfamiliar with cornbread, tucked into it with his poutine but there was nothing actually on top of the cornbread -- like a chili jam or butter. Also ... carbs with a side of carbs? Really?
I'm originally from Illinois so the American-style menu is fun for me. I couldn't wait to tuck into the chicken and waffles but was immediately disappointed to find the kitchen had already poured the syrup on top of everything. Tragedy! And while I enjoy chicken with waffles, and ice cream with waffles, having all three together was a little strange.
Thanks so much for a great time. I'll definitely be back -- but I'll get that ice cream and syrup on the side. : )

We had a family dinner at Fathers Office on New Year's Eve. We picked the place because it was child friendly, central & casual and the menu looked good. My husband had the Surf 'N' Turf, I had the Pan Seared Salmon and our daughter had the fish & chips. For dessert, we had the home-made ice-cream & sorbet (raspberry & coconut flavour) and peanut butter cheesecake. All the meals were sumptuous - our daughter loved the fish & chips (she wished she had more fish slices though) and the raspberry sorbet made her day! The salmon was perfectly cooked and the quinoa salad was fantastic. My husband loved the eye fillet and topped off with chorizo made him very happy. Our thanks to the chef for the wonderful meals to end the year. We also had a great time people watching. I rate the customer service as good only because there were a few instances where the waitresses were distracted and we had to made our requests twice (ie. the cheesecake was to be shared by two adults but only one spoon was provided to us) however it was a small matter and we let it pass. We would go there for dinner again.

Look, I like Father's Office as a bar and place to go for a drink but I cannot recommend the restaurant for one simple reason... It's just way to noisy! We were with friends and the conversation was nearly impossible to hear. The restaurant was only about one third full and the punters were not particularly rowdy but the noise was nearly unbearable. Food good, service ok. Fix the accoustics in the restaurant and I would happily go back!
