Fathers Office Ratings and Reviews
We had a group of 17 people dine here and not one of them were satisfied with the food. We all purchased the set menu which on paper looked fantastic but when the food arrived we were greatly let down. The general concsesis was the man burger was so dry no one finished it. The only good thing about the Duo pork board was the pulled pork the other half of the duo being some pork crackling and cubes of roasted pork were soo dry and flavourless. The only up side may have been the starters like the chicken wings, calamari rings and pork belly wich were very nice, the only thing is that there was not enough for the group. The beer was also flat, some of there cocktails were enjoyable but not worth it to order.
The food was great taste wise however mine wasn't hot when it came out and the chips had gone a bit soggy (chicken poutine). Friends were very happy with their meals, no complaints. The waiters were lovely and helpful, especially the young guy with a moustache. Mojito was fantastic. Best mojito in Melbourne! Music was a bit too loud but understand that's the kind of place it is. Overall would like to come back and try more of the menu but maybe on a quieter night or afternoon.
The dining area was somewhat loud as it was right next to the bar area, but the decor was nice. The food was somewhat disappointing. I had lamb cutlets coated in a pistachio and sesame crust, but was disappointed to find the crust made up most of the meal with little meat. The accompanying mash potatoes were also a little dry. My girlfriend had a salmon salad, onion rings, and cocktail which she quite enjoyed.
My Sydney-based manager wanted to have a team lunch on January 2. I knew it would be tricky finding a place in Melbourne's CBD that was open so soon after the holidays and not overflowing with tourists. I knew Fathers Office had impressed previous teams so I quickly booked. The staff was very accommodating with an increase in our group size and the overall review from the team was "WOW!". Seriously, people loved the selections of the quick lunch and the value, not to mention the taste. So thank you!
My only criticism would be the sides and sauces. One of my workmates mentioned how she'd prefer more slaw on her burger. Another, who was unfamiliar with cornbread, tucked into it with his poutine but there was nothing actually on top of the cornbread -- like a chili jam or butter. Also ... carbs with a side of carbs? Really?
I'm originally from Illinois so the American-style menu is fun for me. I couldn't wait to tuck into the chicken and waffles but was immediately disappointed to find the kitchen had already poured the syrup on top of everything. Tragedy! And while I enjoy chicken with waffles, and ice cream with waffles, having all three together was a little strange.
Thanks so much for a great time. I'll definitely be back -- but I'll get that ice cream and syrup on the side. : )
We had a family dinner at Fathers Office on New Year's Eve. We picked the place because it was child friendly, central & casual and the menu looked good. My husband had the Surf 'N' Turf, I had the Pan Seared Salmon and our daughter had the fish & chips. For dessert, we had the home-made ice-cream & sorbet (raspberry & coconut flavour) and peanut butter cheesecake. All the meals were sumptuous - our daughter loved the fish & chips (she wished she had more fish slices though) and the raspberry sorbet made her day! The salmon was perfectly cooked and the quinoa salad was fantastic. My husband loved the eye fillet and topped off with chorizo made him very happy. Our thanks to the chef for the wonderful meals to end the year. We also had a great time people watching. I rate the customer service as good only because there were a few instances where the waitresses were distracted and we had to made our requests twice (ie. the cheesecake was to be shared by two adults but only one spoon was provided to us) however it was a small matter and we let it pass. We would go there for dinner again.
Look, I like Father's Office as a bar and place to go for a drink but I cannot recommend the restaurant for one simple reason... It's just way to noisy! We were with friends and the conversation was nearly impossible to hear. The restaurant was only about one third full and the punters were not particularly rowdy but the noise was nearly unbearable. Food good, service ok. Fix the accoustics in the restaurant and I would happily go back!
I just love it. Too noisy for me at peak times, so I go when it's quieter. Worth the work-around. Great burgers, good steak. Nice selection of soul-food and bar snacks. Really good value lunch specials. Some really fun cocktails. The staff are always super friendly, even when they're run off their feet. Great people watching balcony looking over Swanston St, especially for lazy Sunday afternoon drinks when its quiet. Cool decor with art deco sconces and hanging globes, wall mural and pressed metal ceilings. Even the bathroom is attractive.
We were not very impressed that it took 30 minutes for us to even be acknowledged even for drinks. We approached the bar twice thinking we got drinks from there only to be sent back to the table as they would not serve us. When we were finished again trying to get someone to even acknowledge us to figure out where we needed to pay didn't happen for 20 minutes then the one person who did look at us waved us off and ignored us.
I had not been to your venue before - and to be honest I won't be organising to go there again. I know it is the Xmas season, but the room was so noisy - we couldn't hear each other speak.
The food was good, but access to the venue is a challenge for anyone with walking issues.
There are too many other options in Melbourne to try out.
The food was great - thank you for catering for all the dietary variations that we needed.
The only thing we found challenging was the noise levels. Is it possible to install some sound deadening panels on the sealing. We (a table of 8) couldn't hear each other...
The wait staff didn't really know what they were doing, we were asked if we wanted drinks by the same waitress 6 times, when we had full drinks in front of us.
The venue was loud and it was hard to hear my partner. The food was priced well and was an OK, but nothing extraordinary. I wouldn't come back for dinner again; but a drink and snack in the bar area would be nice.
I love fathers Office restaurant as a great spot to dine in Melbourne Central it is always classy and great food and great value. Sometimes the music is too loud in the restaurant area - we like to talk to each other while we dine. However, I dined there with colleagues and family the other day at 6 pm and it was perfect and much quieter and calmer. Thank-you. I hope the over loud music issue in the dining area has been resolved. The staff are always lovely and attentive and the menu satisfies all diets. The mid week special is great value - perfect for work, shopping or pre an evening out and even a great lunch spot. Please keep the music level down in the restaurant so we can talk without shouting across the table!
TOO, TOO noisy. I'd say it was unbearably loud. I can be loud at times, but this was ridiculous. If I had realised the bar was so close to the dining area, I'd have gone elsewhere. Yes, it was a Saturday night, but the level of noise is exacerbated greatly by the close proximity of the bar to the dining area. It's certainly not s place I'd recommend if you're interested in conversation over a meal.
The ability to split bills was great!
A small group of friends joined me to help me celebrate my birthday at Fathers Office for dinner and drinks. It was nearly all of our first time being there and we didnt know what to expect. But we found we had a great night in a great atmosphere with good service, good food and awesome Happy hour till 10pm setting us up nicely for the rest of our night. Thank you Fathers Office 😁
It was hard to get the attention of the waiters, couldn't get the attention in time so we missed the happy hour prices because of it.
One person in our group got their food 30 minutes before the rest of us and had finished before we got the rest. Then two of the orders were wrong and had to be sent back, then returned a while later all cold. The burger was fried black and super dry, the steak was over done.
I would not recommend to go here and eat.
