Outstanding dinner and service yet again at Everest. Chef Jean Joho never disappoints. Some of our favorite dishes right now are the risotto with shaved truffle, the farm fresh shirred egg and the raw oysters with the champagne-cucumber flourette. Also, Everest has an outstanding Sommelier to help you choose just the perfect wine pairing. Highly recommend.
Second time here, everything is amazing! Foie gras is my favorite!
Impeccable experience start to finish. Personalized service beginning with the sommelier and ending through dessert/coffee. Not cheap but felt like I got full value
Our view was not as described . The food and wine were excellent. Service was very good.
The view from Everest was well worth it then when you couple that with the excellent food and the wine choices it was a magical evening.
We went for New Years Eve and there was not one decoration. We were on time and our table was not ready so they had us wait in a room with no one else in sight. Looked like an overflow room. Then, after 10 minutes with no one asking if we would like a drink, they put us in a small room with one bright light in middle of room. Looked like a bedroom with five tables. The food was ok- not worth price. We will never go back! Really disappointed.
For dinner we had the Baked Wild Sea Bass Backaoffa Alsace Style, Double Smoked Bacon and the Venison, Alsace Fromage Blanc Knepfla, Wild Huckleberry Jus, Spiced Pear. The Bass and Venison are certainly the winners of the evening. The sommelier recommended the perfect Pinot Noir wines to accompany our main courses.
We were quite stuffed at this point with the hardy portions, but dessert was a must. My husband had the Alsace Vacherin, which had the prettiest meringue on top. He ate every bite. I enjoyed the Kougelhopf, a savory rum cake wading in a healthy portion of more rum with candied ginger. What a memorable dessert!
Overall, our dining experience reminded us of some of our favorite meals when we Chef Joho!
There was only one drawback to the evening. Unfortunately, a Trumpster was seated near us. While hearing him drone on and on about his extensive wine knowledge was borderline irritating, when he started to defend Trump’s traitorous phone call to Ukraine as a “poor choice of words,” I started to grow red with anger, (red as my husband’s medium rare venison). I took a breath, and looked out at our beautiful city since we had the nice view. But this guy continued to weave between his Trump-love and his frustration with overpaying for CSO tickets. I thought about throwing my $38 glass of Pinot Noir at him and tell him to MAGA and stop talking, but I didn’t. Instead, I remembered that I was in a French restaurant so glorious that it brings Trumpsters and bleeding heart liberals like us together. So once again, Merci Chef Joho! Vive la résistance!
The entire meal was incredible. Had the multi course tasting menu. Do not miss the lobster dish that they’re famous for. Truly wonderful.
We were at Everest once before and had a great meal and great service. This visit seemed like they were not prepared for the holiday crowd. We were placed at a table that seemed like a added table just to make extra seating. Very uncomfortable!! We asked for different seating but were not accommodated.
On top of the poor seating, it seemed like they forgot about us we had to ask for menus and a service person.
I have been to many Michelin star restaurants, Based on this experience I would say Everest doesn’t belong with in that group.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Everest. Very nice atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Food was even better. We did the Christmas in Alsace dinner with wine pairing, and we really enjoyed it. Definitely a special occasion kinda place given the cost. Great views if you get a table near a window. We’d definitely love to come back and would recommend.
The service was the worst it’s been. I have dined here at least 6-8 times before. They screwed up on my starters. Gave me the wrong dish and I had to wait for it while my guests ate. My waiter was not available when I needed anything !! Will have to seriously think about going back again. When I’m paying that much for fine dining, excellent service is expected !!
Truly a unique and memorable dining experience. From start to finish, excellent service, people who are knowledgeable and friendly. The wine list is simply amazing, and the sommeliers were helpful and easy to discuss the wine with. It’s a high price point restaurant, but everything was first class. Highly recommended.
This is an experience that if you can have, you should. We discovered that Chef Joho owned Everest Room while dining at the Eiffel Tower restaurant Las Vegas. Being from Chicago and absolutely loving the experience at Eiffel Tower we knew we would have to try Everest.
I am incredibly happy to say we did and it was everything that we hoped it would be and more.
This is FINE dining. I made the mistake of dressing in jeans with a nice oxford. Acceptable to the restaurant but I really should have dressed better. So often we dress to the 9s and are seated next to a sweatsuit wearing twit.
Those details aside you will not get better service ANYWHERE in Chicago.
The food is OUTSTANDING! As I said this is an experience that if you can have it, you should.
Don't expect this to be an every day dining experience, and make no mistake the prices are ridiculous for most casual diners. But if you understand truly fine dining you will not be disappointed. I fully intend on returning as often as possible and will make sure I fit the room slightly better next time.
Dinner from Alsace tasting menu was perfect. Incredible wine pairs.
Amazing service! First time making a dinner reservation and they really set the bar high.
The food was amazing. I loved every bite. My only issue, which is very minor, is the ambiance. It lacked any modern updates. I thought it was brightly lit. The view is the scenery, but in the bright lights it gets lost.
Food was delicious and the Chef does it so well. Service could have been a little better as it seems we were getting passed over several times in the beginning but it improved later in the meal presentation process.
Have the foie. Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh fifty characters
Food was so good and impressive.
Best French restaurant in chicago!!! With the best view!!
This was the ultimate dinner experience. We were greeted as soon as we got off of the elevator, then someone took our coats, another person welcomed us to the restaurant and showed us to our table which had a magnificent view of Chicago. We chose the tasting menu. We were not disappointed. The food and service was absolutely excellent. Yes, it is pricey, but well worth it.
In an era where five stars are given to burger houses, it seems insufficient that a world class restaurant like Everest is limited to the same rating. Every aspect of the meal was nearly perfect. Every course was beautifully presented, perfectly prepared and delicious. Servers were well trained, knowledgeable, and personable. A special note of sommelier Sophie whose expertise was invaluable in navigating a prodigious wine list. All of this is accentuated by the spectacular 40th story views west of Chicago.
Elegance beyond expectations. We enjoyed the pre-Theater price-fix choice, which was perfect before going to see Hamilton. It made the experience more affordable and not having to worry about making it to the show on time.
Waited for almost half an hour between cheese and dessert... which was ice cream... other than that food was great and servers were really nice!
Absolute perfection in every single way. We will continue to return each trip to Chicago.
Great classic restaurant. The decor was a little dated, very classic. Service was outstanding, friendly. Food was good, nothing very inventive, just classic dishes. The duck was cooked to perfection.
Great restaurant experience with attentive service staff. My sisters and I had reservations for a birthday and we were not disappointed at all. Our dinner had amazing views of Chicago as well. Although a little pricey and we didn’t care for the deserts that accompanied the tasting menu, it was a memorable evening.
The food was not very good but also very health friendly . I am diabetic and after the full course dinner with desert including wine , a cocktail and excellent bread I had a very normal blood sugar level next morning . This is contrary to my dining experience in most other restaurants around the country . Congratulations to Everest and their gastronomic quality !!!! Worth of every penny ! Their service is excellent and beyond reproach .
The Dover sole was magnificent. Great wine list, great food, a great experience.
Way too pricey to look at a wall. I expected views but they were limited. The food was outstanding and the service was awesome as well. The view was really disappointing and for this reason, I will not return.
Great food, easy to locate, great waiters, the valet guy was either on his headphones or sleeping when we arrived, we knocked on the door to get his attention after standing there for a minute. The only reason why I tipped him low.
Sadly the service here ruined it for us. Servers were indifferent and the sommelier was either overwhelmed, uninterested, or both. When we attempted to engage her in selecting wines to accompany our meal, we gave her a budget. She responded by picking a few pours from the wine pairing schedule and a single expensive bottle of Bordeaux. Which would have been fine but she exceeded the (generous, and high for us) budget we gave her. Was very frustrating...
The food is excellent and the view is nice, but there are many many many better options that are easier to get to and far better value.
The béarnaise sauce for the New York steak was one of the best I’ve ever had as was the braised endive. The marbré of Duck, Pheasant and Quail was a little dry and needed more sauce, but overall it was a good dish. The staff was great and very attentive. Overall a great experience, I will be back on my next visit to Chicago.
Did tasting and wine pairing. Should have been a wonderful experience. Food was good but a bit different, portions were ridiculously small. Wine pairing was a total rip off. For $125 pp you should get more then a thimble full of wines.
Very expensive and really
The dinner was adequate but drawn out to the degree of being pretentious. Instead of getting the final course we got the bill. Do not go here for a high-end experience.
This was an extraordinary meal, one of the top three or four in my entire life. The food was flawless, the service was exemplary, the wine pairings were incredible, and everything was a home run. Every now and then they would bring us a little amuse-bouche, which was an unexpected treat. I’m trying to figure out when we can go back. And if you’re a soufflé lover, do spend the extra $10 for the apple soufflé dessert. You won’t regret it. It’s like eating a cloud.
Well done, Everest team! What a great night. Thank you.
Old world classic French that has excellent prixe fix menus and French wine pairings.
