Jean Joho is a treasure, Everest our celebratory go-to. Three amuses-bouches—broccoli mousse, mushroom bisque and lobster en gelée—lead the way for a beautiful three-game bird marbré; the tenderness of the veal tenderloin entrée rendered the steak knife extraneous; dessert Vacherin with raspberry was a sublime taste and texture delight. The gewurtz and verbena palette cleanser—or pre-dessert—was a delicate, pleasant treat. Wine pairings complemented food choices. Add the view—>voilà, perfection!

We were quite disappointed actually. The menu online was the deciding factor for us to try Everest. How disappointing that on arrival, we were advised it was a set menu. If we’d seen or known about the set menu we could have taken a view, but seeing as we were there already we went with it. The chef did give us some money off if we removed the desserts, as we are more savory which was nice, and the staff were really professional and pleasant. I have to say it wasn’t about the money, it was the restriction on choice. We chose the lobster soup and steak. The lobster was chewy and the steak was too. The food came out way way too quick and we’d literally finished within 45 minutes of arriving. For the price, which ended up being close to $500 it was really unsatisfying and as this was supposed to be a special meal, we felt somewhat short changed . We paid and left instead of making a fuss, but I’m afraid we won’t be returning anytime soon. I understand restaurants are struggling at the moment with Covid. But there is no excuse to serve up mediocre food and charge top dollar prices. You know it’s bad and so do the patrons that eat it.

It had been a long time since I have been to Everest, my favorite go-to for celebrations. Even with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic it again exceeded expectations. It was a little disconcerting to use a Q code for the wine list and the menu but that will be a new norm and much appreciated. There was a special request I had from a meal there many years ago and the wait staff were very accommodating and I was able to share a very fond memory with my daughter, from when she was 12 and served multiple Shirley Temples without being asked if she wanted more. Lobster corn soup, and halibut, yes, more please!

The sommelier was the only one that really interacted with the table.
I asked on the reservation for a view, instead small little table on side and i looked at the wall.
For a M Star restaurant this was nothing special. Go try some where else for $600 for two people.

We didn't appreciate our food as much as we usually do. A few things on the tasting menu missed the mark. The corn soup was tasty but it overpowered the lobster pieces that came surrounded by it. Tarragon seemed to be too strong on our cod course and the veal, while tender, was plain tasting. The hits of our evening were the amuse-bouche, trio of marbre of duck, pheasant and quail, cheese course of crispy camembert, and our desert of blueberry fromage blanc parfait. As usual the service was wonderful!

Sensational food, incredible view of the sunset, and phenomenal service! Perfect restaurant selection for a romantic date night. A little pricey, but well worth the splurge!
