Eugene's Diner and Bar
A+ dining experience.
A lot of pride and attention to detail goes into everything they do.
From the decor, atmosphere, service and most importantly the menu and its preparation.
Even though it was a busy Saturday night the staff spent their time answering our questions about the menu with great detail (and pride, appropriately)
It has a comfortable and sophisticated feel with a wide appeal (great for the kids, grandfolks, date night or groups), however it isn't stuffy or highfalutin.
This is a special and unique place.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. We had a reservation but half our party got SEVERELY held up and arrived 30 minutes late. The host staff made it work as best they could despite the busy night (a Saturday) and we were still able to be seated. After we arrived they were just as friendly as if we’d been on time. Really appreciate the understanding!
Food itself was quite good, but I’m not sure I agree with the pricing for the TV dinner that night. Drinks were good but be warned: cocktails are draft and therefore not really customizable!
Third time there. The first two times were great with service. Second time service was not that great. It could have been they didn’t have enough coverage which I get happens. However, we ordered drinks and only mine came. We waited about 15 minutes for the server to come over and we informed them about the missing drink. Most places would take it off the bill considering we ordered the drink 20 mins before she actually came back over to take our food order. We did enjoy what we ordered but didn’t feel the need to stay any longer for dessert.
Love Eugene's...never disappoints us! Food is amazing!
Awesome food, fun and funky decor. Love this place!!
We loved it! The service was the first thing we noticed - it was fun and light and great. We got recommendations and descriptions and they were helpful without being overbearing. Then the drinks were awesome - good wine selection and some killer cocktails. Lastly the food lived up to the hype. Great sandwiches, burgers, soup, fries, veggies - it was ALL good. This is definitely a new go to for us for fun and casual - great pre-show for the Capitol Theatre. We will be back!
It was OK. Nicely decorated Diner decor. LOUD MUSIC , very concerned service. Food was fine. Hamburger meat was over salted
Absolutely amazing. Like I was transported back to my Grandmother's basement from the 80's- if she happened to be a gourmet chef. Amazing flavors, amazing ambiance, awesome service. Will be back soon.
a diner with gimmicks. If you're into gimmicks, that's fine. if you just want real diner food, go to a real diner, at most likely 1/3 the cost
The menu would be better if it had more of the classics that one is accustomed to seeing in a diner menu. They have some twists on the classics but they might come off as weird. It would be difficult to find something for young children to eat. No chicken tenders, no Mac and cheese, and no normal grilled cheese. The decor is very retro and kind of cool. The manager and the staff are quite friendly and eager to please. I think this place has great potential but needs to find a balance between the very creative takes they have done on the classics and the classics. There are no omelettes, pancakes, or eggs cooked to order.
Step inside Eugene's and it's 1970 all over again. The menu is eclectic and delicious. Don't discount the entertainment value of the Star Wars theme music being played for birthdays, along with a hot dog and pickle dressed up and serving birthday cake. A unique edition to the Port Chester dining scene!
The food was outstanding. Like Special good. It was a good bye dinner for a friend of mine and he said it may have been the best meal he has ever had. He ordered bacon for dessert that's how much he liked it.
Fun. Great drinks. Had a smoked mezcal drink that was amazing. Lots of eye candy with the decor. Food was solid/fun. Food took quite a while, seemed like a mistake in back of house, folks around us got food quickly, we were sitting between apps and mains for a long time. Not a big deal, fun atmosphere, I’ll be back.
Was taking a very special woman to The Cap, to see Lucinda Williams perform - our first date, so we had to stop in and indulge ourselves with Chef DiBari at his newest restaurant, Eugene’s. Chef DiBari is at the top of his culinary game. The Chef came out to say hello and welcome us. This is a “diner” in name only. His cuisine is Down Home Comfort Food. Where can you enjoy a wonderfully delicious and scrumptious Meatloaf TV Dinner, or “All Day Waffles with Marrow?” What a treat. We pigged out on the pastrami - I thought I was at the Second Avenue Deli!!!! Jesus spoke to me.
Go anytime of day or night - you won’t regret it. And if you did, well you shouldn’t have believed me in the first place - get a life and eat with Chef DiBari here or at one of his other restaurants - The Cookery, and The Parlor. Both close to the river in Fabulous Dobbs Ferry.
Have eaten here on multiple occasions, and always an enjoyable experience
Our experience was quite amazing! The service was super speedy and everyone we had the pleasure to meet were kind and happy to help. The food was ridiculously good. It’s a bit pricey but considering the high quality, it’s worth every penny!
Love everything about this place, will definitely be going back! I had the fried bologna and brussels sprouts side and my husband had the meatloaf TV dinner, everything was delicious!!
We had a great time sitting at the bar snacking and drinking! The birthday celebration was the best!
Second time here. Loved it even more than the first time!
The food was very flavourful and had some inspired unusual combinations that enhanced the delicious experience. The drinks were also very tasty and a good selection of wines. Sorry we did not have room for dessert this time so we will have to visit again.
We have been to the other restaurants of Chef DiBarry & have always been pleased. Not so with Eugene's. The service was considerably slow & the food (for the price) was not worth it. My pastrami sandwich was good but somewhat skimpy. And, the two gentlemen in our party were very disappointed that their egg & Spam dishes didn't even contain one piece of toast! Simple things I know but it's sometimes the simple touches that makes a difference!
Great and campy!!!
They kill you with the added and very expensive charges for simple things like French fries or a side of pickles with a hamburger. Food was good but not worth nearly $50 for hamburger and fries for two people. And we didn’t even have drinks.
Very enjoyable as all of Dave Dibari restaurants are
Awesome decor and incredible food. We frequent the Parlor and although this is a bit farther away for us we’ll be going back. Creative food and 70s throwback make this a very unique place. Surprisingly great bar vibe as well.
We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the food! We were celebrating a birthday and their way of singing Happy Birthday was creative and super fun! We will definitely be back for the food and the experience.
I took my 2 oldest grandchildren ages 14 and 15 for dinner. They loved breakfast for dinner. I would definitely go again
Totally fun venue. Great meal and enjoyed the retro decor , reminded me my kitchen growing up. Food was great and I enjoyed my cocktail as well
Another Chef David DiBari masterpiece!
The decor, the service, the entire vibe was wonderful! Who would've thought I would like a fried bologna sandwich as much as I did! And the pancakes! All of the food was phenomenal!
waaaay overpriced. Service was good. Wouldn't go back.
We went quick before a concert or else I would have eaten more. Hysterical 70s decor. The most comfy chairs at the counter, pastrami sandwich was amazing. French fries awesome...homemade like-- everything. Totally was watching the pies spin around in front of me and would have had dessert but didn't want to be in a food coma right before a show ha. Tiki drink was delicious. Want to try everything on the menu almost...minus the brains lol. Another A+ for David Debari.
Excellent inventive diner food. Great service and fun ambiance.
The food was absolutely awful.
The waiter suggested the Meatloaf which he said was their signature dish. It was not very good. We ordered a shrimp cocktail that was sub par and we also tried the snap pea appetizer which was just awful.
The Brussels sprouts and Rice Krispies and the pickles were good.
Save your hard earned money and go somewhere else.
A clever and imaginative approach to a diner. We loved it and had a great time. Our friends brought a great Bordeaux which went great with my pastrami sandwich!
We visited Port Chester, not to mention the house cured bacon! The staff made us feel very welcome & addressed our every need. Even though we live on Long Island, we will certainly return to Eugene’s on our next trip through Westchester County.
Amazing. This is not a “regular” diner.
Outstanding food. Lots of personal attention from our waiter, the manager as well as the owner who was in that evening. Sit at the counter and enjoy watching the kitchen in action!!
Have been a number of times. Fun experience.
Ambience was really cool absolutely enjoyed that. The menu was super small and there wasn’t a kids menu which would be great being that it’s still a diner. The food took a very long time and it was just OK. Milk shakes were not good Neither were the fries
