Eugene's Diner and Bar
Delicious and inventive food. Great vibe. Highly recommend the counter if your a foodie.
My wife loved her GF crispy eggs and sweet potato and I loved my French toast. Service was overall VG. It was the foie gras that disappointed. It was the suggested accompaniment to the French toast on the menu and when I saw it as such I presumed it would be a seared hot rare rich unctuous piece of goose liver that would’ve been the perfect counterpoint to the sweet indulgence of the French toast! What I received for the $12 up charge was a piece of cold goose liver smaller than the size of my thumb that was more of a tiny terrine of foie gras than the pan seared variety I was expecting. The menu was misleading. It should’ve specified that it was cooked through and served cold. Other than that it was very good. The French toast was one of the best I’ve eaten.
Amazing. Order everything. Waffles and bone marrow rocked my world- no syrup needed. TV dinner was excellent. Brussels sprouts are killer. My boyfriend said the cheeseburger was the best he has had and this spot is his new favorite place in Westchester. I live down the street... I may just move in to Eugene’s. Also, rainbow cake for dessert- stellar. Had the Cheech Loves Chong to drink- insanely amazing mezcal cocktail. Owners were lovely. Service was great.
Funky decor and interesting upscale twists on classic diner food. Great experience. Will return.
I usually wait to review a restaurant after a few visits, but you can just tell this place has it. From the staff to the meal to the ambiance -- it was awesome. The fluffy pancakes are a can't miss (I say share them as a not-too-sweet dessert). Matzo soup on point (that bone broth tho... Amazing). And the hash browns are salted blocks of crispy perfection. Oh! And the salt and pepper eggs are like nothing I've ever tried before! So simple but so good. Mike (our server) was so knowledgeable and friendly. Chef Dave even came by for a hello. Can't wait to come back!
A fun and casual vibe combined with an interesting take on diner/comfort food! Loved the 70s basement motif and the friendly service. Had the signature TV dinner of the day: meatloaf plus sides all on one tray, which was really good! Highly recommended; just don’t expect a super quiet environment.
Date or friends or family place- ridiculous comfort food run by a culinary genius and his lovely wife!
Our waiter Mike was great and all of the others who stopped by our table to check in or simply clear a dish were awesome too!
Don't miss this place!!! Throw back to my childhood and a gastric indulgence worth every calorie!!!
We'll Be Back! Even if just fir dessert or apps and drinks on a whim!
Deeeeeeeeelicious! Everything was excellent - from the house made pastrami to the kale salad to the peanut butter pie. Super casual. Very energetic and loud which works with the vibe. Can’t wait to go back.
Service is not consistent at all, music can be way too loud if you want to have a conversation.
But food is definitely great!
Very good food and services
Food is great, owners amazing
Service really depends on the waiter you get, we had one bad experience and one amazing experience so far!
This is a review for the New Year’s Eve 2019 DJ event which was excellent. As always the food was delicious with a broad range of passed items, some great food stations and SPECTACULAR selection of desserts. The bar was very efficient although there was a bit of waiting it was never for long. The DJ kept the tunes going all night with a good selection and the entire staff were wonderful, personable and professional! We were very glad to have been part of the celebration
Love the retro themed decor and menu. Great menu, been here twice. Just an fyi if you order the pancakes, they are not served super hot. They are made in advance and heated on the griddle. Because they are so thick, the middle is never hot. However, they are delicious!! Can't wait to come back to try something new.
I go often and am never disappointed. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Eugene’s is still a work in progress. Three out of four of us had to send our food back. This is despite the fact that they charge a 3% kitchen fee to give tips to the people who work in the kitchen. Well I applied that notion, it’s probably best that if you’re going to charge that type of a fee, the food needs to come out not burnt, or cold. When we spoke to the manager, she did adjust the check to make everything right, and we will be trying Eugene’s again.
Delicious food. I had the daily fish special which was trout - amazing.
Diner food prepared at a higher level. The Hungry Dude was great - my son said it was better than Denny's. Shakes and dessert were also excellent
Great food, great vibe.
At this point we are treated like family and love going there for our date nights of family nights. Chef Dave is always adding delicious, inventive foods and I still love all our favorites as well.
I have been for lunch. Good. Decided to go back for dinner. Not as good. Food was just ok. Had the ribs special. Not special. Full slab of ribs. Dry. Nothing came with it.
It's a really cool Diner with a 70s vibe. The service was excellent and the food delicious. A little pricey because the food does not come with sides you order those separately. The place has ambiance.
Service was ultra slow. My turkey leg was a piece of turkey meat covered in some sauce with a burnt patty of stuffing underneath with a dollop of cranberry sauce. The chicken platter is big with 2 large pieces with carrots & peas. This place is a wanna-be cool hip place. The interior is cute. I felt like I was in my Grandmother's basement. I would stop by for a drink, but that's about it. Dave DiBari can do better!
Overpriced for what you get. Food is mediocre at best. A pretty place with a nice staff. The pastrami was stringy and tough, the Belgian waffles arrived cold, and the meatloaf --- a signature dish -- was, well, ordinary. So, if you want a nothing special meal in a pretty place where the major aftertaste is from the bill, you've found your spot.,
Another great meal at Eugene's Diner! Took entire family and every had a great time. Fun and delicious food; great staff; cool nostalgic decor. Highly recommend.
Need a reservation for dinner, but for lunchtime. Very relaxing atmosphere and tasty quality food. Will definitely visit again!!
We love the restaurant - the decor ,
Ambiance, service and the food is delicious. It’s a great menu -
Something for everyone. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Awrsome and fun place. Diner vibe with way better than diner food.
Love the idea of a retro diner and menu. Meal was delicious, service excellent, music too loud. I will be back.
We had a fun time at Eugene's following a movie on Tues. Everyone had cheeseburgers, which were delish, though I am glad I didn't order extra fries. They didn't seem worth it and probably should just be included - or chips. Other than that it was great and funky!
Excited to try this new place by David Dibari of The Cookery and The Parlor in Dobbs Ferry, both places we go to regularly, we'll probably wait a little bit longer until this place gets in our rotation. Certainly no value for the money as we went last day of Restaurant Week, $120 dinner (incl. one cocktail each) seems too much for room temperature tv dinner style meat loaf, matzo ball soup.
The food was very good but the service was not great. The server seemed very rushed. We sat with just our menus for a little too long and same thing with when we wanted refills on our drinks. I think the place is pretty new and still needs to get into a groove. Willing to try it again.
It was fun and different, but the music was too loud and not appropriate for the theme of the restaurant. the menu had some interesting things but would like to see some healthier choices for sides.
Meal was wrong waiter and staff error.
The ambience and decor was kitschy! Totally retro. Loved the "tv dinner" meal. Went for lunch during restaurant week and the portions were perfect. Regular menu seems a bit pricey. But i will definitely be back
Eugene’s is an upscale, retro diner. We enjoyed their version of a TV dinner. We will definitely go back to try their other dishes.
Concept and vibe were great, but food was inedible. Gooey egg was served cold and congealed twice. Worst ham steak I have ever had. Brussels sprouts and drinks were fantastic. Service was barely passable.
Run, don’t walk to Eugene’s. Wonderful spot serving great food, with pleasant hospitality in a fun space.
You don’t need a special occasion to eat here. Food is great and reasonably priced...
Amazing food and cool atmosphere
Let's put it the nicest way: Eugene's is a work in progress. For dinner on a Thursday night, I ordered a pastrami sanwich with French fries and a root beer. My wife ordered the chopped salad and a coffee. Mine first: what Eugene's calls "house mustard" had the consistency and color of Cheeze Whiz. I had to taste first to be sure I wasn't putting cheese on my pastrami. If you're not having a Reuben, deli mustard is a MUST. Next, the menu says sodas are $2.50. When I got home, I looked at the check and I was charged $6!
My wife's chopped salad was meager and small, what you'd expect from a side salad at a diner if you ordered an entree. Nothing on the menu says the "veg" that comes with the iceberg lettuce is only cucumber. Okay, not a biggie. Neither was the $11 portion, which was overpriced by double.
The coffee was fine. No one offered a refill. No one offered salt and/or pepper either. Like I said, work in progress.
Final thing: three different people came to the table asking, "How's everything?" One person a meal is plenty. The check with tip amounted to $50. $50! Yikes!
No, we won't be going back.
