Esquire Drink and Dine
The service was extremely poor in this restaurant. It took them more than 30mins to get our drinks, and another 40mins to get our food. However, the food was decent, despite the wait, and the restaurant had a pretty nice design and ambience.
The lunch special did not represent value for money. Thin cut of steak and had to request sides during as portion wasn’t sufficient. $145 for two steaks and 4 x drinks is overpriced.
Esquire should be Sydney's answer to Melbourne's Supper Club but it still needs to find its feet in terms of the right level of service (currently either too much or too little and all within the same couple of hours). Nicely decorated venue with potential. Just needs more practice.
Had an early 5.30pm booking after attending Saturday Night Fever:)
From the moment we walked we were made very welcome by all staff & more so by our American waiter Patrick who was simply the best in looking after us & fully explaining each course as it arrived.
The whole ambience of the restaurant & bar was lovely.
We had the Chefs Tasting for two which was a whopping seven courses & dessert plus salad & mash - each dish was well presented & very tasty.
Also finished off with two glasses of Giant Steps Pinot Noir thanks to Mr Sommelier Fabio then Espresso Martinis -WOW!

Loved the moody venue and the food was very tasty. The let down was the outrageously priced wine list.
Chefs menu good value at $65 a head. Nice buzzy atmosphere earlier in the night but after 10pm when the restaurant cleared there was only 1 floor staff & it took us close to 10 minutes to get their attention to pay the bill. Table too small for a group of 4 having the chefs menu with drinks.
All the staff are clearly new to hospitality. The barmen put so much ice in the cocktails they're undrinkable and taste watered down. Whilst the waiters are trying their best they bother you way too much and get order wrong repeatedly. The portions are far too small for the price.
Perhaps in a few months they might have gotten their act together but it still won't worth the price they're charging.
Beautiful spot. Great food. Service was a minor disaster. Wine didn’t turn up which sort of ruined meal and we asked four times to check. If it was my restaurant I would comp’d some drinks and apologised instead it was more sorry we are busy
A nice secluded pocket away from the noise of the shops. Lovely staff too. Only dish we didn’t love was the schnitzel, everything else delicious! Especially the lock and key cocktail. Yum yum. Will definitely be back.
