Esca is dedicated to showcasing the wines of our estate by pairing them with simple yet elegant food in spectacular Hunter Valley setting. Our food philosophy is to use the best quality local ingredients combined with our own Bimbadgen produce. Right here on site we have our own bee boxes, vegetable garden and extensive citrus orchard.
Our menu has been designed to allow you to design your own tasting experience. You have the option to choose as the number of courses you wish, and in which order you wish to enjoy these. We begin our menu experience with 3 courses, but you can select 4 5 or more if you wish.
To enjoy the full Esca and Bimbadgen experience, we highly recommend you enjoy each dish with our wine pairings. Our Executive Chef, Nick Samaras and Winemaker Richard Done, have carefully selected a perfect wine match to each menu item.

We booked this for our anniversary meal. The food at Esca was outrageously good, great value for their 5 course degustation tasting menu with wine pairing, service was impeccable and found the staff very pleasant, helpful and informative re: wine pairings. A great experience overall, would definitely recommend and visit again!
The ambiance is romantic and the room very comfortable. The tasting menu is beautifully crafted using Estate and local produce . Beautifully presented, carefully balanced, and superbly cooked.
Eleven out of ten for service..........perfect, correct but friendly staff, who when our cab did not arrive, offered a ride back to our hotel. How good is that?
The staff were very welcoming, table setting was modern, atmosphere was lovely, food was amazing... however, I needed my beef substituted but am not vegetarian. Staff assumed I was and placed a plate of roasted cauliflower in front on me for my main. I was a little disappointed as I was expecting another meat substitute (chicken, fish, lamb etc).
Overall, we had a great time at Esca and will definitely return 😊
Perfect location, food, service and quality. Would highly recommend
From the moment you walk through the door you are treated like one of the family. Even though it is a set menu the food was outstanding as were the matching wines. One meal needed to be Gluten free and that was not a problem a minor tweak to the original dish, the flavours were not compromised.
Wonderful food, service and experience. Christy is really lovely and very helpful.
Had lunch, not rushed, truly excellent warm service with great quality food. Would recommend highly and will visit again for special occasion
What a gorgeous lunch we had! The service, venue, food and wine were incredible - and very well priced. Thank you
Fantastic dinner - had the 5 course tasting menu. Could not recommend more, thanks for great dinner !
Delicious food, great quality, excellent service!
Service was wonderful and attentive. Only 3 of the 5 courses of the set menu was great. The views from the balcony are divine.
Exceptional food with efficient unobtrusive service.
We really enjoyed our night out the food was great, can’t wait to try some more an other special menu one day soon. Our waitress was fantastic with a great personality.
Thank you for a lovely night!
One off if not the best meal we have had for a very long time! The whole experience was 1st class! 11 out of 10! Thank you so much
The meal was fantastic and the wines were superb. The highlight of our weekend.
Excellent food, services. A great place to while away a few hours
Was a great lunch, great value and incredible view
Esca are currently doing a 5 course lunch with the current covid restrictions. We opted for the matched wines and felt it was very good value. They were happy to do swap outs for dietary requirements. Lovely setting over looking the vineyards and the service was outstanding. Pizzas in the Cafe below looked great if you were after something a bit more casual .
It was an amazing array of beautiful food with stunning wine. The service was supreme and as a regular, it just gets better and better.
Been to this establishment many a time, the reason for return? Amazing wine, atmosphere,,food and friendly service. Very knowledgeable with the menu. Can also accommodate those with dietary needs.
Under staffed. Two flies in the restaurant were off putting. Advised staff and they didn’t care.
We were the only customer during Lunch Service, Staff was friendly and nice, the views are amazing at this place, unfortunately the food was average, Overly seasoned.. We had the Duck with Beetroot puree which doesn't go well together, our Med Rare Steak from was Med Well and salty, and I like salt normally.
Dessert was a BIG MISS, Icecream in a CUP would have tasted better... I hope they would improved.
After reading some less than complimentary reviews of Esca in recent online reviews we were quite prepared to be disappointed. But we weren't.
The space is pleasant with good views over the vines through the large windows - perhaps a little over-airconditioned but that's a matter of preference. Our welcome was low key but friendly and the restaurant quiet.
We were very happy with the food and service. The entrees we chose were a green gazpacho with goats cheese and a grilled scallops - both were tasty, fresh and delicious.
We both had the aged angus for mains and it was cooked perfectly with just enough flavoursome fat to make it interesting. As only occasional red meat eaters it was truly a treat.
We had Bimbadgen wines by the glass - just their everyday range - and both the chardonnay and the shiraz were well suited to our meals. No complaints there.
Overall, we'd happily go back. It's not stand-out special, just a good modern Australian restaurant in a lovely location and that's no bad thing.
Some of the other local restaurants are more theatrical and fancy, and on the right night that's good too, but Esca should keep on doing what it does well. Perhaps they've listened to some of the criticism of the food quality and smartened up their act.
We got an amazing verandah table outside for my birthday and had to two course menu. We have just been recently as well and both this time and last time exceeded our expectations - thanks for being one of the best restaurants in the Hunter.
Always fantastic food and great friendly staff. The food experience is always different, new ideas, great produce and an overall taste bud sensation.
We have been to esca many times and it’s always beautiful this time however something was lacking. We did notice staff had changed also which is fine but it was the menu that we found disappointing this time round.
Outstanding food, quality service. Highly recommend.
Great waiting staff thank you would recommend to everyone
Nice food and service. It wasn’t the best weather but that didn’t affect our night.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food, well worth a visit
Very seafood based menu.
That being said, the service, presentation, overall taste of the food was very good, just didn't feel there was much option for people who don't like seafood (the starter section mainly).
On the expensive side compared to other places I've been.
We had a great gentlemen ( forgot his name unfortunately) who gave us a great experience up until he left which was just before dessert where we were handed over to 2 ladies who seemed to have no interest in us. We wanted to purchase some wines at the end s we did the wine pairing but this all seemed to hard for them and we were quoted incorrect prices and it was all to much effort. Our table of 6 were all looking to buy wines but only one person in the end did as we felt like the staff were more interested in having us leave. It is a pity that that last quarter of our evening ended so badly as otherwise it would have been an amazing experience.
Probably wouldn't recommend simply because there are so many options in the hunter and I have to imagine some of them do a better job of this particular type of dining experience. I'd rather tell somebody to try something different than waste my recommendation on something I felt was only ok, especially for the cost. For $200 bill for two people celebrating a big event, it was absolutely not worth it.
Best thing to do on a hot summers day. Spend the afternoon in air con comfort being served delicious food and wine whilst looking at the spectacular views
Fantastic venue for a scenic lunch that is tasty and healthy, plus personable service from all staff. Well done Bimbadgen and keep it up!
Fantastic staff, very attentive and professional. The food was lovely and well presented. We will be back.
good food that was tasty, good ambience was a very quiet day
Not the menu, if you dont like seafood or raw meat with pickled mush then theres not really an entree for you. The flavour combinations were also a bit of a hit or miss, mainly miss.
Very relaxing and enjoyable lunch in a wonderful location. Beautiful food and great wines.
We absolutely loved our 5 course menu with matching wines. Service was outstanding and overall experience was great!
